About this property
Whare Tatū Raglan - Holiday Accommodation
***We now have an additional bedroom, & outdoor bath area! Reserve your stay for summer! This new addition includes a queen sized bed, tea & coffee facilities, a separate toilet & basin, with a private outdoor (heated) shower***
***We have a 2 night minimum in the Summer months, but please reach out to us if you are wanting one night stays, please note that these requests do incur an extra charge***
Our private whare is a short drive/walk to Ngarunui Beach. Raglan will take you just under 10 minutes by car, if you’re able, it’s also a wonderful walk of around 35 minutes, along the footpath that’s just opposite our drive. Where you will also find Cala Cafe!
Our whare is ideal for couples and has been built to cater for family/friends and guests, as a quiet escape from everyday life. We wanted to create a warm and minimalistic space that you can truly relax in, while also having the freedom to explore Raglan (Whāingaroa)
You are able to fully self cater. To create a unique cooking experience, our kitchen is under cover, while being “outside” between the lounge and bedroom areas, there’s an induction cooktop, cooking utensils, small fridge/freezer, toaster, jug & tea/coffee making facilities, (please note we do not have an oven or microwave).
Our bathroom is warm and with the natural light through the clear light roofing, it makes for a neat “under the rain” wonderful hot shower. You’ll find this located behind the kitchen area, to keep it private from the bedroom and lounge.
Our bedroom is minimalistic, warm and comfortable, a king sized bed, cotton sheets, linen duvet, quality pillows. There’s a space for your bags and to hang your clothes. We also enjoy providing up to date magazines and leave a few good books here and there for guests to enjoy.
Our lounge space, which opens out onto the deck, is a sun trap, where you’ll find games, a stereo, incredibly comfortable daybeds and large beanbags to lounge on, or you’re welcome to lay them all on the floor for that afternoon in the sun (please note, we don`t have a tv, but we provide wifi).
Our decks provide a space to eat, enjoy that glass of wine or purely just relax and take in views of the harbour and Te Akau in the distance.
We really hope you enjoy our special space and feel right at home :)
Whare Tatū is completely private and seperate from our main house, you are able to enjoy the whole whare to yourselves :)
When checking in to Whare Tatū, you are welcome to use the lock box or state if you’d like me to meet you there. We also live only a couple of minutes further up the hill, and contactable via my cell phone at all times during your stay :)
Our whare Iti is now available to reserve, along side your Whare Tatū booking! This room can take up to 2 guests & will incur an extra charge per person, per night upon booking.
Depending on your abilities, the main beach, Ngarunui, which is patrolled in the summer months, is a 15 minute walk, as is Wainui Reserve. Raglan township is further, roughly 35 minutes by foot, or 5-10 minutes by car, depending on traffic on the one-way bridge.
A gentle reminder that Whare Tatū is a non-smoking whare at all times. We encourage recycling, there are extra bins out the rear of the whare, for glass/cardboard etc, please also note that while our kitchen is outside, it is mostly protected from the elements, if I’m aware of incredibly bad weather, I will contact you to offer an alternative date for your stay :)
Our Whare is near the main road to incredible surf spots and beach, you will hear road noise, but please be aware that this is not 24/7, the peak times for this are early mornings and sunset hours in Summer, as the sunset up at Ngārunui is undoubtedly one of the best I have ever seen!
`creepy crawlies` Yes! we live rural, so from time to time, you will see spiders and their webs, the odd cockroach/ant & even a good ole` fly, but I can assure you, we have done everything humanly possible, to keep these at an absolute minimum :)
We hope you have an incredible experience here with us, we are very lucky to be able to share this with you, as guests, and we hope that the memories stay with you long after your visit :)
