About this property

NEW! Heishman Historic Hillside Home

Perched on a hillside just above a welcoming West Virginia town, this

comfortable home offers open mountain views, fresh air, and a relaxed small-

town atmosphere without feeling remote or isolated. It’s an ideal retreat for

travelers who want space and scenery while still staying connected to everyday

life.

The Heishman Hillside Home is one of the founding residences of Wardensville,

established nearly two centuries ago by immigrant families who first

cultivated this land in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Over the

decades, a rich tapestry of cultures has passed through this valley, leaving

behind a gentle blending of history and local life. While the home has been

meticulously renovated to provide modern comfort and high living standards,

its historical soul remains the heart of the experience.

The home feels pleasantly set back from the road, providing privacy and views

across the surrounding hills. Mornings are perfect for coffee with the

mountains in sight, and evenings are generally calm and quiet in the way rural

towns naturally are. During the day, you may hear the gentle sounds of town

life in the distance, part of the authentic charm of staying in a real

community rather than a manufactured getaway.

Just a few minutes away, Main Street offers a local café, small shops, and the

VFW, where residents gather for drinks, music, and conversation. It’s an easy

place to settle in, explore, and feel part of the area, whether you’re staying

for a weekend or longer.

This home is a great fit for guests who appreciate honesty, simplicity, and

beautiful views—no pretense, no deep-woods isolation—just a comfortable place

to relax, recharge, and enjoy the character of small-town West Virginia at the

gateway to the mountains.
