Amazing cabin and property. Excellent option for a group as several cabins are available to rent. It was perfect for our daughter’s MTU graduation weekend.
Adorable cottage and property. Great location close to town, but in the quiet country. Everything was so clean and well-equipped. Would definitely return.

Beautiful and peaceful. Clean. Responded quickly to questions. Would be happy to stay here again.
This is my new go to place when I'm in the UP. Phenominal location, with great hosts. It is so peaceful and quiet that you can't help but want to just soak it in. It's absolutely woth the extra few minutes of drive time into town.
This property was great! Very pretty surroundings and the interior was very family friendly and cozy. We have stayed at this property multiple times and would recommend to others.
This is a wonderful house on a beautiful little lake outside of town. It is calm and peaceful. It is very nice and comfortable and it is in very good condition. The host is great. You will really enjoy this place!
Absolutely gorgeous cabin and location! We walked in the chalet and our son said - “This feels like home!” All 3 of our kiddos enjoyed squeegeeing the shower. We thoroughly enjoyed kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, and seeing the box turtles. We could’ve stayed at the resort and not gone anywhere for the duration of our stay. We would love to return and stay longer!
Great time! Cabin had everything you could need. The huge sliding glass door looking out to the lake was very nice. Just sitting on the huge porch, listening to the water and watching for wildlife was exactly the vacation we were looking for.
Great cabin close to Houghton. It was even nicer than the pictures showed! We had 4 adults and it was nice, clean and comfortable. Would book it for our next visit to Houghton!! Host was very responsive.
What a perfect location for a quiet family weekend! We had a great time exploring the Keweenaw area with our MTU student. The location was central for all of our planned activities. The home was clean, modern, and comfortable.

About the host
Hosted by Carl & Michelle Treankler
The story begins with my husband's son attending Michigan Tech. After his first year he wanted to live off campus. Advising him to find a property that he could fix up and then possibly sell after he graduated, Carl's son began the hunt; but with many dead ends. When we told the realtor to open it up to see what was out there, this magnificent property came to light. Sitting on 220 acres, with a 10 acre lake, it was 'love' at first site. My husband purchased the property and 3 months later brainstormed the idea of starting an outdoor bible camp for high school kids, church groups, or sport teams. Already being a big supporter to Camp Luther, in Three Lakes, WI, Carl started the plan to make this area their base camp. With an old barn that hunters used stayed in, an old homestead, a 600 square foot cabin, and a double wide home residing on the property, it became clear there was much work to be done. Having the vision of creating something great, we began the construction of a pavilion, addition to cabin, and complete gut out of the barn. With these projects done, new ones continue to begin in transforming the property into a premiere camp for kids. Future projects consist of a welcome center, and additional camp sites, 3 more cabins. The barn stands alone as it is a quarter mile away from the camp. Looking out from the upper deck on the barn, you can enjoy watching the geese fly in on the pond that also lies on the property. A great spot to watch some wildlife. The newly renovated double wide has been turned into a Love Palace Home, hence why we call it the LP and sits right on the private lake called Love Lake. The 2 newer built fish cabins (Walleye and Brook Trout) are tucked in a wooded area about 100 yards from the lake. The new rental, The Chalet is our previous house that was remodeled into a beautiful, warm home that will serve as a residence to our Camp Director in the summer months.
