Great space for the two us. Exactly as described. We didn’t spend much time in the unit, but it was clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again.
This is a great find as long as you can get up two flights of fairly steep stairs. Spotless room and bath. Bed is very comfortable. Definitely recommend.
Loved stay a few days in this cute and comfy spot. Instructions for getting in were perfect. The space was cozy and had everything I needed. The bathroom was much larger than I expected! I had dinner at two local spots that I could walk to (The Haven & Evergreen Cafe). Hopping on the metro was easy and a fairly quick ride into downtown Boston. I walked around during the day and night and always felt safe. Cute town! I would definitely stay here again!
The description and reviews were accurate. The place was very clean and the bed comfortable. It is a 3rd floor studio: the the stairs are a caution and the space fine for a couple (I am not sure is enough room for a third person sleeping on the floor). There is a microwave, a hot pot for boiling water and some dishes and flat ware - no really cooking possibilities. [I would add, I was a bit shocked at the final cost after a 100 cleaning fee and taxes....]
This property had all the comforts of home. The neighborhood was quiet and safe, the place was spotless, the shower was hot, and it was a cozy place to crash after my travels during the day. There is a friendly coffee shop (The Vu) just around the corner and the property is only a few blocks from the Orange Line making it a convenient location. Highly recommend!
the room was very clean and comfortable. Quiet. Had some trouble finding the house number in the dark. I found parking around the block easy walk. Tea and hot water available after a long day of traveling. Instructions provided very clear. thank you.
This space was quiet and comfortable with all amenities I needed. Very clean-comfortable bed-happy with locked outer door access to the entire house, plus dead bolt to this studio apartment. (Stairs leading to 3rd floor space are steep, if that is an issue.)
The space was small but very nice. Lots of windows for light, modern bathroom, and a beautiful refinished wood floor that shows the square cut nails used to install it long ago. Good location to walk to food (0.7mi Jamaica Plain - many choices), coffee, beer (0.3mi Samuel Adams Brewery), and subway (.3mi Orange Line). We easily maneuvered w/o a car. Stairs to unit are beautiful wood, tight, and steep. Heater was OK but slow to warm the unit and had to be shut off when we were not there by house rule.
Apartment is nicely updated (e.g. bathroom), very nice skylights and hardwood floors, air conditioner works well for hot days as this was on 3rd floor. Conveniently located to the T subway stop and good local eateries. It’s a densely populated old city neighborhood so parking can be a challenge. We found a good spot and then walked everywhere (with a mile or two) (which we like to do). If you can’t do a lot of walking and want to drive places and find parking that would be a potential challenge. All amenities (teapot, microwave, small fridge) were clean and worked well. Nicely decorated place. Close to downtown Boston. Nice parks nearby.
Rental was clean and convenient. Private entrance made coming and going easy. Independent temperature control for this unit was a great feature. Host was very quick to respond to communication during our stay. We had no internet (or t.v.) for our last 4 days so that was unfortunate and the host was not able to solve this as she was off site during that time.
The place is very clean and cozy. Finding street parking was very manageable. The host communicated very well, from the arrival instructions to the occasional checks. Highly recommended.

Hello! I'm Catherine, a musician and college professor. I love traveling, reading, cooking, and outdoor activities. I'm from the UK originally, and besides Boston I have lived in New York City and Rio de Janeiro. I've been in Jamaica Plain since 2007 and love the parks, the variety of local small businesses, and the diverse community. I think you will too! BLM and LGBTQ+ ally.
Why they chose this property
This is a typical Jamaica Plain 3-storey house, 100 years old, simple and comfortable. It has new heat and AC systems (2018), and nice renovations throughout. There is a sweet park on the corner, where my friends and I play music in the warmer months, next to a playground and a medical clinic. An array of local parks (5-10 minutes walk away) make up Boston's Emerald Necklace, for endless exploration and tranquility within sight of Downtown. The picture above is of Jamaica Pond, a beautiful lake within walking distance.
What makes this property unique
If you want access to a piano, there is a 7' Bechstein sometimes available for rental. Ask host in advance.
