About this property
Historic Firehouse - Spacious, Private & Clean
Everything you need for a getaway in the pines! This spacious ~1,300 sq ft apartment is located inside of the original Kachina Village Fire Station built in 1970. The bedrooms and living room were the original garage bays that housed the fire engines. When the firehouse was expanded in the 90's the garage bays were relocated. This space was converted to the front office with meeting rooms & offices for the firefighters. The new owners completed the latest renovation in Dec. 2020, converting it Into a living space that embraces the history. Appointed with pictures & other memorabilia donated by several firefighters who spent much of their tenure in the firehouse.
The house is surrounded by mature pine trees in a quiet neighborhood. The backside of the property connects to a trail that leads to Pumphouse Wash, boasting beautiful views of the area & access to hiking & biking trails. The property is well situated to take advantage of Northern Arizona. You can reach Downtown Flagstaff is only 10-15 min, Oak Creek in about 25 & Sedona in around 40. The ski resort is just 40 minutes north. Also located nearby is Fort Tuthill county park home of the Flagstaff Snow Park, Flagstaff Extreme adventure park, Fort. Tuthill bike park, Pepsi Amphitheater, the Overland Expo & many other events. Raymond County Park is just down the street - great for kids and adults alike! Also close by is Mountainaire Tavern, Flagstaff airport, a bird sanctuary and miles trails and county roads for those looking to explore. The firehouse and the bedroom community of Kachina are a wonderful place to escape to the pines, away from the chaos of the city while being just a short drive to town & so many incredible attractions & experiences!

We had a very pleasant stay. I enjoyed that this location was in a historic location and also had many new features and plenty of towels, etc. Access was very easy and the property manager/owner provided detailed access information. We were surprised that the bedroom that we thought had two beds in it based on the pictures had one large bed, however there was an added daybed in another room. They also had games and toys. The location is very quiet, which is also nice.
While the place was spacious and clean, we checked out after one night. We had to ask twice for access info including the day of arrival. The owners evidentialy don't trust guest who have trusted them with hundreds of dollars per night but when you arrive the keys are sticking in the front door after passing through a common entrance. While they assured us it was safe, we just couldn't shake that uneasy feeling about the lack of personal security.
We also were not down with rules that were not part of the listing being sprung on us the day of arrival. This is an expert from the owner:
Please remove your shoes upon entering. Be sure to wear your mask when you’re unable to distance and outside of the apartment, we do have two other residents living on the property.
Lastly, there is no stove, no working ice maker, no laundry and no cable or satellite service, just a Roku tv. Fortunately we were familiar with how to use one but there wasn't enough bandwidth to support streaming and surfing at the same time.
If you don't know how to use a smart TV, you will not have television either.
We expected a lot more for what cost us pretty much 300 per night.
Fool me once I guess...

I’m genuinely taken aback by your review. We have not had anything but positive reviews and feedback from the 50+ guests we have hosted. It is our standard process to provide check in instructions the day of your arrival, it has nothing to do with trusting our guests, whom are our livelihood, and are very much appreciated. As explained, the unique property has a home owner living onsite. The keys were left in the entrance for your convenience and behind a secured entry door. There was no one who could access aside from owners and housekeeper, who of course have spare keys anyway. Our house rules are also standard and requesting to wear a mask during a global pandemic is pretty normal when you’re around others that reside on the property which is very rare due to separate secured entrances. The television services, laundry, and kitchen are explained clearly in our description which you have access to prior to booking.
I clearly communicated all of this to you upon receiving your initial complaints. I’m truly sorry your experience was so negative, though I can’t imagine how we could have made for a better stay for our guests. We take pride in our home and our services.
Our family rented this property for our daughter’s wedding. Her and the bridal party got ready for the ceremony there. It was extra special because my husband worked out of station 21 for years. We loved all the pics and realized hubby was in 2 of them. We love the changes the new owner has made while holding onto the history!
The owner was so accommodating and the place was sparkly clean! Beautiful area and couldn't have enjoyed the place more.
