About the host
Hosted by Joe T
Joe spent 20 years working in national parks including The Grand Canyon and Yosemite. He also spent approximately 10 years traveling, studying and working abroad in different states and countries. He discovered this property while guiding tours throughout the American west over seven years. During his travels he learned the basics of several languages including Romanian Spanish German Polish and a smattering of French and Italian. Please feel free to share your language and keep his skills in practice.
Why they chose this property
Indian Canyon Ranch is located approximately 2 miles off the highway down a bumpy dirt road. The road Starts out fine but gets bumpier on Brushey Terrace and is not ideal for sports cars or low clearance vehicles but can be accessed by a skilled driver in said vehicles. Indian Canyon and Rosie Lane are both narrow rough roads but short. Rosie ends just past the Ranch on the edge of a small canyon on the edge of national forest and surrounded by open terrain free for your exploring.
Other things to note
You will likely be greeted by two friendly dogs, the black one is Bear, the brindle is River. River is still a puppy and tends to jump up on you though he is learning. Feel free to be firm if he jumps.
Indian Canyon Ranch is a Nest In Harmony promoted location, we value natural living and alternative living styles and featuring different living structures for off-grid lifestyles. With our guidance for the best experience for guests, owner of Indian Canyon Ranch, Joe, lived and worked in Yosemite & Grand Canyon National Park as project manager and not wanting the used materials to be wasted in the landfill, Joe captured the opportunity to create an off-grid retreat when he bought the first 10 acres of Indian Canyon Ranch which is now 20 acres total He took years to collect and build this off-grid retreat, piece by piece, up-cycling construction debris. Now Joe lives off-grid full-time and is sharing in the experience. Joe will be able to answer some of your questions or give you advice on the area and other natural wonders in the region including local Indian ruins, or a great place to swim, or go off-roading :)

What makes this property unique
The property is 100% off grid all the structures are built from construction debris from various construction projects over the years reclaimed/recycled materials. The water in the shower house is heated by the sun. All water is manually hauled in so conservation is essential. There is plenty of firewood throughout the property and there will be a fire every night in the common area. Feel free to start the fire and use the grill to cook your food as needed. There are fire pits at some of the units for private fires as well. Feel free to gather wood as needed to keep your private fire going but a wood pile will be ready at the common area pit always. Condiments in the kitchen cabinets and refrigerator are there for your use, the refrigerator is inside the shed next to the kitchen. The Wi-Fi password is on the whiteboard in the kitchen. The cabinet on the deck contains the Wi-Fi center and an inverter to plug in your devices if you need to charge them. Indian ruins and petroglyphs are nearby in the canyon ask your host for directions and he will guide you in the right direction.
