We always love to come back to Manninen’s! Our 3 teens love the adventures in the water, hiking, and fishing. It’s a wonderful place to unplug and enjoy family time. Our multi-generation vacation was awesome!
The property was just as described easy to find location the host was extremely helpful with finding a convince store. Great place to break away from the city and just relax
My stay at Yksi cabin was very lovely! The cabin was plenty large enough to visit at the table or relax on the couch. The cabin and the amenities were very clean, smelled fine, and was a pleasure to have in the setting.
The cabins are perched above the lake in a small wooded area that feels very private. My black lab Otso really enjoyed sniffing out the property and it worked great as a way to visit the UP without having to leave him behind.
We really enjoyed our stay at Manninen's Cabins. Christine was communicative and helpful throughout. We were all pleasantly surprised at how nice our cabin was! It was very clean and there were many sweet details. Nice linens were a huge plus and the kitchen was well outfitted with everything we needed. We enjoyed using the available boats and getting out on the lake, which was generally very quiet. The sauna on site was also great! Christine was very receptive to feedback and took our concerns seriously. The mosquitoes were a problem for us, but that is unavoidable to some extent. Overall, we were very happy with our stay and would definitely return if we came back to the area.

My family and I had a great time! Christine was a great host and we will likely return in the future. The only draw back were the mosquitoes, but that’s just part of being in the woods.
The cabin was spotlessly clean and we loved the charm and history. Thoughtful touches were added including wildflowers, very nice linens and towels, a fan for hot weather. Kayaks, paddle boards, canoes, and row boats were all included with the cabin. We also rented an electric motor for the boat which was nice to use while fishing. There was also a fire pit by the lake and firewood provided. The lake is beautiful and it is a peaceful place with lots of wildlife to watch. We enjoyed the fireflies. The only thing we’d change is if the outdoor street lights could be turned off around ten pm it would make stargazing and watching the fireflies amazing. They were also very dog friendly. I would highly recommend.
My family of 4, plus our dog, enjoyed staying at this cabin. We used the rowboat & paddleboards. There is a nice grassy area between the cabin and Otter Lake to play badminton and volleyball. A suggestion I have is to bring an extra fan if the weather is hot. We stayed when it was near 90 and there is no air conditioning.
We have a great time in our stay at this place. It’s pure rustic cabin feel, it’s an old cabins dated way back from generations of the family who own this place. It was kept for the most part. Our stay was wonderful. We luck out on the weather, it was perfect. We enjoyed the tranquility of the area especially the lake. All the boats, kayaks, canoe, and paddle boards are free to use by everyone. We fish the whole time and caught some good size northern and some catfish. If you have motor boats there is a DNR launch next to this place, you can navigate the lake and the river area. We looking forward to come back here again.
This a fabulous property. We stayed in Cabin #1 we have 4 adults it was very spacious, clean, good beds, beautiful view of the lake and fall colors. This is a very peaceful property lots of deer running around and pheasants the colors were spectacular. We had a fishing boat canoe and kayaks that we were free to use at our cabin. I would highly recommend these cabins we loved our stay. They are near to Porkies, Houghton, kewanaw pennisula, and Marquestte.
We loved our stay at Cabin #1. The cabin is old and full of character with all the necessary upgrades for a relaxing stay. We also loved the lake. It was very calm and quiet and so beautiful with the changing leaves. Would definitely stay here again!
We had a great time at Manninen's cabins. The cabins were built by Finnish immigrants in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The air quality in the logs cabins is wonderful and the cabins are clean. We enjoyed paddle boarding, kayaking, fishing and swimming at Otter Lake. We appreciated the peace and quiet of the resort and area. We had sauna every day! Christine, the owner, is great! She responds to requests very quickly and heats up the sauna when requested. We truly enjoyed our whole experience at Manninen's cabins and can recommend it to all!
Manninen's Cabins are a wonderful getaway and provide the perfect location for exploring everything the beautiful UP has to offer. I grew up going to these cabins and love that they still provide all the charm that you would expect from a rustic, log cabin but with great new updates such as soft new linens, reliable Wifi, kayaks, paddle boards and much more. Christine, the property manager, is very helpful and truly wants all of her guests to enjoy their stay. This is why so many families continue to return year after year!
The cabins were perfect. Management was always available to answer questions, prepare the sauna, take away recycling, etc. The beautiful view of the lake was priceless.
This is a great cabin that has easy access to Otter Lake. We were out in the lake almost every day either swimming, fishing, kayaking and canoeing. The cabin is well taken care of. The owner is very conscience about all the details and was available when we needed her. I am looking forward to future visits!
This property has it all. The drive to get there was beautiful and we saw deer each and every time. The cabin was clean, cozy and the wifi worked without problems! I can't wait to return.
