The Oak House in Historic Jean Lafitte

Come to relax in a serene setting, surrounded by hundred- year-old live oaks. Jean Lafitte properties follow along the Bayou Barataria which is rich with the best, freshest seafood. There are nearby bayous and lakes for fishing and water sports. Local adventures include swamp tours, chartered fishing excursions, nature trails, and nearby boat launch access. The house, located just 25 miles from the New Orleans French Quarter and Bourbon Street is a perfect getaway for festivals and Mardi Gras.

The house is newly built in 2020 with modern appliances and furnishings. The space will accommodate up to 6 guests; the master has a queen bed, and the second bedroom has one bunk bed and a full-size bed. The house is raised, and below there is an outdoor kitchen with a fryer, outdoor grill, boiling pot for seafood boils, and a wash area. There are also sitting areas under the house overlooking the oaks for outdoor relaxing. The driveway has enough room to park a boat and trailer, and a public launch is only 2 miles away. The kitchen is fully stocked with all essential cooking ware for you to enjoy home cooked meals during your stay. Don't want to cook, no problem, the property is minutes away from several outstanding local restaurants. All other living essentials are already awaiting you to make this not only an enjoyable, but hassle-free stay and get the most out of your time with family and friends.

We loved our stay at this adorable bayou house! It was cute, clean, and exactly as pictured—no surprises, just charm and comfort. Peaceful stay, home away from home.

We stayed at this location for a weekend family getaway. Being raised in louisiana its always a hit or miss with location. This was the perfect peaceful home. Clean and supplied with everything needed for an easy stay. The land the house is on gave it that magical cajun touch. The added bonus was being a mile away from a fun swamp tour that ended up being fun for the whole family. Highly recommend and will def stay again.

Our stay at the house on stilts was pretty awesome! Very clean and new, very pretty location. Saw lots of gators got to do lots of fishing all nearby and airboat rides!!

Clean and comfortable stay

We booked the house to visit family for Christmas and didn’t use it for much more than having a place to shower and sleep. That said, the house is fully stocked with utensils, cookware and dinnerware for those that want to prepare meals. The house is very nice inside and out and we had a comfortable stay. We would definitely book again.
