Easy access to all Gettysburg's events, beautiful house. Big, very clean, outdoor fire pit, alot of yard room, beautiful and calm surroundings. Traffic is moderate in that area but quiets down at night. We had a great time and will return.
We enjoyed our stay very much. Road noise was easily drowned out by the sound machines at night. The only suggestion would be better lighting in the bathroom
The property was great! The place was clean and supplied everything from linens and dishes to shampoo and soap. They allowed us to bring our 3 dogs also. They even supplied a dog bed, bowls, treats, and dog shampoo. They are supper nice and always responded immediately if I had to text them.
We attend a work conference at Gettysburg College each year. The dorms are so not good for older backs and hips lol. We decided to VRBO and I found the Rested Rooster property and couldn’t be happier! Communicating with Danielle was so easy. The beds were comfortable. The house was clean. Essentials to stay us out were there waiting for us AND the coffee was delicious! Check-in was simple as was check-out. We plan to make reservations to stay here again next year. I highly recommend this property.
Enjoyed our trip with our doggo. The downstairs rental had surprisingly large bedrooms and a very large bathroom, which was nice where we had little ones running around.
It's a historic building so if you like the vintage charm and quirks, it's great and a great value. If you're accustomed to more polished accommodations, this may not be for you. the yard is huge and my kids had fun playing in the snow. Also, there are goats next door. Did I mention the goats?
The home was old but served its purpose well. It was clean and had everything we needed for our stay. It was a little further from the Gettysburg battlefield than I would have preferred but it was the closest I could find that offered 4 beds which we needed. One bathroom was a challenge but we worked around it. The only negative was the street noise from the crossing where the house was located. No one was staying in the other rental above us so we were not distracted by any noise above us. I would recommend it if asked about it.
The home was spotlessly clean, attractively decorated and very comfortable. There were five in our family and everyone had plenty of space to sit on the porch, eat in the well-stocked kitchen, watch tv in the comfy living room or rest in one of the the three bedrooms. The location is perfect with less than a 15 minute drive to the Gettysburg battlefield and other main attractions. The must see historical Cashtown Inn is just a mile down the road ! Our dog loved the treats set up in the doggie spa ! There was even an outdoor fire ring with lots of seats for a backyard cookout ! The only negative is that there road noise from the traffic next to the house, but there are so many positives, it was well worth staying there.
The Rested Rooster and Happy Hen (we rented both floors) are well kept, immaculately clean, and nicely decorated. True to the online description, the place is right on the road and there is some traffic noise, but we didn't find it terribly loud.
We rented the place for our daughter's wedding, about 20 minutes away. It was a really nice retreat for us, family and friends.
The hostess was great ! Very responsive and had the house with items they you may need!!
The location was a very busy road that I wasn’t expecting, but the hostess was great
Very responsive and had the house stocked full of essentials!

Did you read the listing? To say you weren’t expecting the busy road and rate me 4/5 makes me think you didn't even read the listing, it states in at least 3 places how close the property is to the road and specifically there would be traffic. So thanks for not reading the listing and then giving less than 5 stars because of it.
About the host

We've both lived in and around Gettysburg since we were kids. We love the location of the homes because it's just outside of town, but not too far. We love the history of the homes digging in to find more out about them. We have two children and we do like to travel as a family when we can.
