We really enjoyed our stay at Happy Trails. This cabin had easy access to Highway 20, was only 20 minutes to trails on this side of North Cascades, and was a short drive to Mazama and Winthrop. The lay out of the cabin was perfect for our group and we did love the little walk to the river.
The house was a ton of fun and beautiful property. The couch and downstairs bed were so uncomfortable. I barely slept because it sags making you roll towards your partner. My hips were screaming. So sad to not be able to sleep on vacation. Please buy a new bed and bed frame.

The cabin is kind of old and worn out, not to our expectation. We had booked another cabin in the same property which was much better than this, overall it was kind of disappointing for the price we paid. The property is close to many beautiful trails, very convenient and we were pretty much out whole day and spent only nights here at the property.
Beautiful and well maintained cabin. Plenty of room for 4 adults and all our gear. Ideally located with easy access to Mazama and WA Pass. Would definitely stay there again.
My husband and I had a wonderful three-night stay at Happy Trails cabin in Mazama. The log cabin is beautiful, cozy, and perfectly located close to ski trails. The kitchen was very well stocked, and the sauna was absolute heaven after long days of skiing. It’s also dog-friendly, and our dogs were clearly living their best lives. We will definitely be back!!
Stayed for a hiking trip in the north cascades park.Great cabin - clean rooms, great diningspace and kitchen Excellent property - lots of space to be outdoors, good grill, and great deck for star gazing at the end of the nightGood location location - close to mazama store for breakfast and coffee and household essentials, near town of Winthrop, and very close to west side of north cascades parkHost very communicativeWould definitely stay again if in area
Great location for hiking! This cabin had plumbing issues so we were moved to another cabin on the property. Management was great to work with. River access was great and overall worked well for our family. Would stay again.

Thanks for your feedback. It's unfortunate that a series of maintenance events all occurred during your stay and when the owners were traveling themselves. They are long time hosts, very responsive and replaced the appliances and corrected all of the issues last week. We're glad we could accommodate you elsewhere to enjoy your stay and we hope that you book Happy Trails in the future as it's a great cabin.
Well stocked kitchen with everything one would need for any meal. Lots of games and puzzles and a Sonos speaker for music. Would have been nice to have a fourth room for the six men, but we made it work on the oversized couches. Quiet and good instructions for use and check out. Communication with Jim was great.
Loved staying at Happy Trails. Beautiful cabin with modern finishings and fantastic location. The hosts were super easy to communicate with and the check-in/out process was simple. Would highly recommend to any family looking for a trip to the Methow Valley.
The listing says it sleeps 10, but it was just the right size for our group of 5 adult men. Plenty of twin beds and couches for kids though if your group is larger and willing to share beds.
Loved this place! Lots of fun little details and nods to keep you amd your family entertained and relaxed. Beautiful place, property and area. Great access to the Methow Trail systems, about 45 min east of North Cascades National Park and a short drive to the Mazama Store.
Only real thing that could be better is the river access path is overgrown and it's two bridges have collapsed, so getting to the river was tricky and pokey.
Had an awesome little weekend in Mazama with friends. The sauna was the selling point (didn’t disappoint), but the property itself was awesome and the house had great amenities. very close to ski trails and Mazama store. Will definitely be booking again. The only small downside was the dishwasher wasn’t working but no big deal, our group didn’t mind washing by hand!

The cabin has a lot of potential and looks promising on the outside, however on the inside it feels dark, tired and worn. At the premium price point we were paying, it was disappointing. Again, at a lower rate it wouldn't have been a problem. However when you're charging premium rates, there's more expectation for charm.
The Happy Trails property is really well stocked with quality kitchen stuff and those spices you forgot to bring. It was like a good friend invited you to stay at their place for a long weekend. The sauna came up to temperature nicely, just read the well laid out directions. The location is incredible and peaceful. Definitely one to return to.
The cabin was very comfortable, clean, and well-resourced (lots of reading material, kitchen was well equipped).
There were some troubles with the heat that were unable to be resolved by the property manager during our visit, but it sounds like they were able to resolve this for future guests after our departure. We appreciated the open communication with the management team during our stay regarding this.
Overall we greatly enjoyed our stay and would recommend for other guests.
Our family of six including parents in their 80s had a magical time at the Happy Trails cabin. The log construction is beautiful and reinforces the cozy, warm feeling of the home. We've been staying in the Mazama area for the last 30 years and love being near the Country Store and all the Mazama area has to offer. The OSH pub is a welcomed addition to this special part of the valley. The star-gazing is second to none and the peacefulness is so welcomed. The sauna is a lovely treat as is access to the hot tub at the Mazama Country Inn. The cabin is well appointed with 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a spacious den area off of the master bedroom upstairs. The heated concrete floors warm the home nicely and are easy with dogs. Tons of games and fun extras like a swing outside, hammock and even climbing holds for those looking to work on grip strength or just have some fun. Lots of family gathering spaces provide plenty of space for conversation, relaxing together and family time. The ski trails near the cabin are easily accessed right across the street and offer miles of solitude and exploration. Conversely, said trails offer lots of mountain biking options in the summer and easy river access directly from the property. Needless to say, we loved our stay and appreciate the owners sharing their sweet space.
The house and property were great.
But beware, the agreement is extremely rigid. A few weeks before our trip, the North Cascades were closed due to fires. As that was the purpose of our trip, and with health concerns about the air quality index (AQI), we attempted to cancel our trip. We were informed that within 30 days, the only way the cancellation would be accepted was if evacuations have been ordered, or if the AQI TWO DAYS BEFORE the check-in date is above 200. Even then, no refund or partial refund - you may reschedule your trip within 6 months.
Within two day of our check-in date, things had cleared up, so we felt obligated to go, but were still uneasy as the park was still closed and fires both in the park and Canada were raging unchecked. We stayed 2 days out of the 5 that we had reserved. During those two days, we learned that a red flag warning was in effect which recommended 'taking action', and that AQI was supposed to increase. We never heard anything from the owners or management company about any of this. Feeling unsafe, and questioning if we would even be notified if an evacuation had been ordered, we notified the management companty we were leaving. The AQI for the remaining 3 days of our scheduled stay were in the high 300's.
Two weeks after our trip, we have yet to hear any response from the management company about a refund or partial refund for the 3 days that were not used, or even the possibility of rescheduling. Disappointing to say the least.

Sarah,
I just want to let you know that I processed a refund for 2 nights as we originally offered. I know the smoke was frustrating as we had several weeks where some days it would be clear and others when the AQI would get elevated after the winds would shift bringing smoke down from the Canadian fires. Thankfully, we are beyond that.
When we get smoke it's difficult as there's no insurance policy that will cover this as I've called around trying to find one. I suspect that if one was created it would be expensive so most people wouldn't purchase it. We tried to accommodate your AQI concern by offering a 6 month window to reschedule your stay or a refund of several nights even though our weather was free of smoke at the time. Unfortunately for everyone, we had a change in the winds that increased the smoke significantly upon your arrival.
It's important to note that Red Flag warnings are meteorological in nature as they identify instances were temperatures are elevated, humidity is low, and winds are high and sustained. We get red flag warnings often and they aren't indicative of an imminent risk...just that the elements are there to create an issue if there's a fire nearby.
I am sorry this trip ended like this. Our goal is to provide the best possible housing experience and we try to work with guests when issues arise.
My family loved this spot! We hiked in the North Cascades, biked through the Methow Valley, played in the river and enjoyed the sauna. This is a perfect spot to bring a family. While not fancy, the cabin really has everything you need, including coffee, a well supplied pantry, plenty of games, and even a nice lotion to use with that drier air. We would happily go back here!
This place is so well situated. The big back porch stays in the shade from the summer sun all day long. There is traffic noise from Hwy 20, but you feel rather shielded from it since the hanging out areas are on the other side of the house. Beautiful woods and river.
