About this property

Aspen Lodge Cabin Sum

Summary:
Aspen Lodge is a comfortable cabin nestled in the pines with views of the upper Methow Valley. The cabin sleeps 8 in two bedrooms (each with queen beds) and a loft space with two twin beds and a queen futon. The large open plan living space looks out through the trees towards the meadows, and features a sitting area with propane stove, farmhouse dining table, and a well organised kitchen. A bonus for winter is the large entry way for organising your winter gear and skis. This cabin was designed as a duplex. This listing is for the entire cabin. It is also possible to rent the first floor only with one queen bedroom, or the second floor studio; please look for our separate listings for those options.

The Space:
This is a 1400 sq ft 2-story home. The 1st floor has a Master Bedroom with a queen bed, bath with tub/shower, fully equipped kitchen, and a breakfast bar with 4 stools. The open plan living space has a wall of windows facing out the meadow. There is a lovely view up valley and of Goat Wall. The living room area has two couches by a cozy gas fireplace.

Upstairs is a landing with a small kitchenette (microwave, coffee maker, sink), the second bathroom with tub/shower, bedroom and loft. The upstairs bedroom has a queen bed, small table and two chairs. Off the landing is a loft furnished with two twin beds and a futon.

The washer/dryer can be found in the large entryway mudroom.

Located in the Timberline Meadows community close to Mazama, the cabin enjoys a prime location just 2 miles from the Mazama Store, and in winter is accessed by its very own branch of the Methow Trails groomed cross country ski, fat bike and snow shoe trail. Set back from the road (SR20) across the hay fields and backing on to National Forest, Timberline Meadows enjoys a quiet location with spectacular views from the tree line.

The Neighborhood:
The Timberline Meadows development, located in the Upper Methow Valley, is home to eight nightly rentals, as well as several private homes. The homes are all nestled in the trees at the edge of the National Forest. The wintertime ‘John’s Way’ cross country ski, snowshoe and fat bike trails connects Timberline Meadows to Mazama and the Upper Methow trail system (permits required), making this a great ski-in / ski-out location, away from the bustle of the Mazama trailhead but close enough to ski down to the store.

It’s a 20 minute drive to the Cutthroat Lake trailhead, 21 minutes to Washington Pass and 27 minutes to Maple Pass trailhead (*drive times according to google maps), making this a great hiking base-camp for exploring the North Cascades and for beating the crowds to the trailhead during larch season.

The Mazama Store, with its great bakery and ‘a little bit of everything good’ is just a 5 minute drive or 10 minute bike ride from the cabin, and around 20 minutes by ski (depending how fast you slide and glide). Mountain bike and ski rentals are also available in Mazama.

The old west town of Winthrop is 12 1/2 miles and around 15 minutes drive down valley, with its great shopping, bakery and dining establishments; the Shafer Museum is also worth a visit to learn about the local history. Winthrop has a fun ice skating rink and is the jumping off point for Methow Rafting’s raft and float tubing on the Methow River. Winthrop’s annual calendar of events includes the Rhythm and Blues Festival, Vintage Car Rally, Memorial Day Rodeo, and Christmas At The End Of The Road (check the town’s website for details).

Getting Around:
Getting here: May to November, from Seattle and the westside, you can drive over highway 20 and Washington Pass (check WSDOT for closures). Alternate, and winter routes from Seattle are via I90, Snoqualmie Pass and Blewett Pass, or highway 2 over Stevens Pass (check WSDOT for driving conditions). Combine these routes and you have the scenic Cascade Loop.

Other Things to Note:
EXTRA GUESTS AND MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY
SIX guests are included in the nightly rental rate, additional guests are charged at $20 per person per night. Maximum occupancy is 8.

PRICING
Please note that the nightly rental rate varies with seasons and weekdays, please enter your proposed dates for an accurate quote. A weekly discount of 5%, and monthly discount of 15% is automatically applied and calculated in any quotes for this duration.

HEATING & COOLING
There is a portable conditioning unit located in the living room. There is no air conditioning in the bedrooms. There is a propane fireplace in the living room, and all spaces have base board heaters.

The Inn Pool - guests of our cabin may use The Inn at Mazama outdoor pool (open from Memorial Day to Labor Day) and tennis/pickleball court located at 15 Country Road in Mazama. The cost to use the pool is $10/guest/day and you should check in at the front desk before heading to the pool. Great Cabin with Great Views
We rented both levels and had a great time. Views from the cabin are spectacular and our host was very quick to respond and made sure we had a great time.

Lovely stay
The cabin was clean and well cared for, the bed comfortable, and the view amazing. My husband has mobility issues and uses a walker and had no trouble getting into or around inside the cabin. The stairs to the back deck were a little tricky, but overall a wonderful stay. Thank you!

Fantastic views up the valley with xc motivation just on the other side of the windows
I stayed with my wife, 4-year old son and two friends. The whole cabin option (downstairs and upstairs) worked out perfectly for our group. The cabin was well stocked with kitchen gear and lots of fun games to entertain my son. Jim was prompt and clear with communication within the VRBO app and via phone. My family has already booked with Jim and the Inn at Mazama for next March!

February stay in Mazama
We stayed at Aspen Lodge for a long weekend with three of our adult kids. The location was ideal, the place was comfortable and clean, the kitchen was well-supplied, and we loved the gas fireplace. It really is true that you can ski right out the door, although the tracks were a bit icy and only two members of our group gave it a try. (Weather was perfect, though.) Already thinking about returning next winter!

Location, location, location!
This cozy cabin was the perfect place for our weekend away with friends. You can’t beat the location- right on the ski trail and easy ski, walk or bike to town. The view from the living room is spectacular. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed.
