Susan and Ned couldn't have been nicer, while also respecting our privacy. We had an unforgettable stay in a gorgeous, meticulously cared for place. It was 3 generations of our family - including our 97 year old Mom - who reveled in sitting on the chaise in the screened in porch enjoying the amazing water view. Coming from the Mountains of Colorado - it was magical to feel right on the water in this lovely cottage. Thanks!
The cottage was the perfect getaway for our group of friends. The kitchen had every tool, pot, or pan you need which we really appreciated. The view is truly incredible! We really enjoyed the fire pit, swimming, and kayaking. The hosts were so kind. We made some really special memories here, my boyfriend (now fiancée) actually proposed on the dock. He said as soon as we walked on the property he knew he wanted to propose here- haha! We can’t wait to visit again in the future. Our only complaint is that we couldn’t stay longer. I couldn’t recommend this property more.
Wonderful location and very well set up, we were there for a family wedding nearby and everybody loved the location.Ned and Susan are very nice people and were more than accommodating. Thanks again for helping to make great family memories.
We had the best time here. The cottage is picture perfect, Susan and Ned are lovely and tremendously attentive hosts, and the setting could not be more beautiful. We hope to come back many times in the future!
The location and property were phenomenal! Susan and Ned checked in with us numerous times to be sure we had what we needed. Gave great restaurant and things to do recommendations. The home is cozy and we enjoyed a fire in the evenings. The home is stocked with everything you could need. Truly an enjoyable experience.
The property and setting is gorgeous. What you can't see, until you get there, are the flexible and generous hosts, Susan and Ned.
A top notch Maine vacation.
For our small family wedding (our daughter and son-in-law,) the groom's family stayed in the Cottage. A couple of my Millennials bunked in the nearby Binnacle. These houses are adorable and comfortable.
This property delivered the quintessential Maine coastal cabin experience we were hoping for—and more. Perfectly suited for our group of nine, it offered ample space without sacrificing charm or comfort. The rustic elegance and thoughtful layout made it easy to gather together while still enjoying moments of quiet and solitude. The setting is truly idyllic, with sweeping views and the kind of coastal atmosphere that defines Coastal Maine living. From the gentle sound of the water to the smell of the pines, every detail contributed to an unforgettable stay. Highly recommended for anyone seeking an authentic and spacious retreat on the Maine coast.
This was our second time back on the property and we were there to celebrate my son’s birthday. We love this property so much - it’s one of the most special places we’ve ever experienced with sunsets, lobster boats a beautiful beach and dock. The house is roomy and the attached cabin makes it seem even larger. We love the outdoor shower and the porch. Everything that Susan and Ned have put into this place is evident - and makes for the most enjoyable and comfortable stay.
Our family, consisting of 5 adults and 5 boys with ages spread neatly from 3 through 9 years, rented this sweet cottage and binnacle on Casco Bay for our annual family reunion in July. Ned and Susan's cottage is by far the best stocked place we have ever rented, and we've rented quite a few. The cottage's age and decor make it so charming, and yet it has been updated with all the high-end conveniences. Ned and Susan were very accommodating, meeting us on arrival and showing us around the property.
Harpswell is a lovely spot. We enjoyed walking to Morse's food truck for lobster rolls and Henry Allen's Seafood Market to buy our own live 'n kickin' lobsters. They were so close we could almost swim there.
But mostly, the adults enjoyed lounging on the screened porch watching the lobster boats come and go. Our boys enjoyed skipping rocks and catching little crabs on the beach, jumping off the dock, playing soccer and lacrosse on the lawn, and giggling in the outdoor shower. Summer as it should be!
This is one of a small handful of the very nicest places we've ever stayed, anywhere.
We were six adults and three small children, staying for a week in July. The setting is idyllic--beautiful and private. (You share the dock, beach, etc. with other guests, but we rarely saw them.) The weather was hot, except at the house, which is on the water and stayed perfectly comfortable. We never used the A.C. The Cottage is a delight--very charming, rustic but well-kept and well-furnished. High quality furniture, indoors and out. Comfortable for all of us (we used the Binnacle for one of the couples and their 16-month-old--a bit crowded, with the crib, but, again, very charming).
We mosty cooked. Kitchen is complete, with quality cookware and utensils. The Corner Market (5 min drive) has beautiful produce, baked goods, meats and basic essentials. Fresh lobsters and crabs, and lobster rolls, fried clams, etc. a short walk away. There's great fresh fish to be had in several places within 15-20 min. The grounds are gorgeous. Nice nature walks nearby. Susan and Ned are wonderful hosts. A total hit!
We were privileged to be able to book this total and complete gem of a property and vacation experience.
The entire property allows you to experience a dock, a beach, a field and SUNSETS without needing to leave home. It was, frankly, hard to tear ourselves away to go explore the rest of the area. Our cottage was actually spacious for the 6 of us who stayed there, and the little binnacle next door was perfect for the family matriarch to have her own space. The kitchen and dining room had everything we could dream of, including spices, a hand mixer and lobster tools (we got fresh lobster at the point right down the hill), and we all fit in the beautifully renovated kitchen.
Overall every detail is thought-out so perfectly. The rooms have a carefully selected decor to look like they are from the 40s but the electricity and conveniences are just so comfortable: a new shower fit under an attic nook, fresh water lines out to the dock, new heater/cooling systems, great outdoor lighting, super comfy porch lounge chairs....
That said, we should say that people who cannot go up/down a gentle hill, an older narrow staircase, or need massive showers are not going to be as comfortable as we were. We loved the mix of rustic and utterly comfortable and enjoyed every minute eating and lounging outing and in. THANKS for this precious getaway!
The Cottage is part of an 8-acre property with 2 other rentals. The property is just beautiful and well maintained. The Cottage sits closest to the water and the view is spectacular. The screened porch is where I spent the majority of my time. The Cottage itself is really cute and surprising large - 3 bedrooms upstairs and 1 downstairs, plus a little bunkhouse with 2 beds and a bath. A nice modern kitchen. The location is great - peaceful and so convenient to Brunswick and Freeport. I hope we can come back and stay again.
We had a great time at this beautiful property. There was plenty of space to roam around on the beach/trail/dock and the entire place was just perfect. Truly hope we can return to this lovely spot. Susan and Ned were the best hosts.
The Ouse is very Cozy it’s a lovely view of the water. E had pleasantly cool weather to enjoy the fireplace using the dry, seasoned wood. The kitchen was well equipped.
We had a wonderful family vacation at this cottage in August 2021, and enjoyed the fantastic view of the bay and the lobster boats. We swam everyday off the dock and at the beach, and made day trips to see lighthouses and for lobster rolls. The property was a perfect peaceful and quiet escape for my wife and me, along with our grown children. Highly recommended.
The cottage is so cute! We loved our time here. The space was perfect for everyone to spread out and do their own thing. If you want to sit by the water, kayak, explore the tide pools in low tide, or watch amazing sunsets, this place is for you! Location was great as a base camp for relaxing and taking day trips. Ned and Susan were so nice and accommodating!
The meadow lush with wildflowers, the cove “boiling” with schools of menhaden flashing in bright sunlight, beside a cottage perfectly sited to enjoy the constantly changing waterfront. Beautiful, calm, cozy, endlessly interesting.
