The Footnote cottage was lovely... very clean, all amenities, comfortable beds and, surprisingly roomy for a small two bedroom cottage. There are water views from deck and master bedroom. The area has lots of little places to explore within 5-20 minutes if the cottage. A perfect getaway!

Thank you, we're happy that you enjoyed the clean and comfy cottage, as well as the views, and nice location!
The cottage was lovely. Perfect for four or fewer people. Well appointed, very clean, great location with walks/hikes close by. Hike down the hill to the bay not too challenging or just enjoy the beautiful view from the deck. An additional light in the living room and a coffee pot, not just a K-cup maker would be nice.

We're so happy that you enjoyed the clean, well-appointed cottage, as well as the location and beautiful views!
We loved our stay in Footnote. Very well appointed with everything you need. We stayed in early July and we’re a little worried about no AC when we got there on a hot day but we opened the windows to get the breeze and never missed it. Would definitely stay again if staying in the same area.

We loved staying in this cozy, beachy, bright cottage. Our favorite thing was sitting on the porch, drinking a glass of wine and watching the sunset over the bay.

We enjoyed our stay at Footnote cottage. It was very clean and comfortable, and the décor was even nicer than the photos. We enjoyed being able to walk down to the water, although the trail was a bit more challenging than we had expected. Highly recommended overall.

Thanks so much, Chris ! I'm so pleased you enjoyed the clean, comfy cottage as well as the setting ! Thanks for the feedback on our trail to the ocean - Most trails in Maine to the water can definitely be challenging ! :)
We were in the area to visit friends and found this wonderful bay view property. The cottage was rustic and cozy which really gave us a great vibe for our Maine sea coast experience. The beds were super comfortable and everything in the house was neat and tidy. Our host, Sheri, was super responsive. We would definitely return in the future.

We loved everything about this charming property. The house is comfortable and stocked with everything needed to make our stay enjoyable. Most of our time was spent on the deck out back taking in the views and soaking up the sunshine. We hope to return soon!
We arrived at the golden hour when the sun was heading for the horizon and the house looked like a place I wanted to live in forever. It was a good size for 4. The kitchen was a little tight if you want to prepare elaborate meals, but luckily we did not, and all the utensils we needed were available, except maybe a slotted spoon. The temperature was comfortable in late summer. The view from the deck was awesome and the other porch was a great place to read. Thanks for sharing your lovely cottage!

Many thanks, Natalie ! I'm so happy you enjoyed the cottage with it's gorgeous views ! We'll pick up another slotted spoon for the cottage, things disappear sometimes !!
Cute little cottage with a beautiful view of the sunset from the deck! Very nice kitchen, and the living room furniture has been updated from the photos, including a slightly larger dining table, which was great for dinner and family games; the sleigh bed in the screened-in porch was also updated with outdoor, all-weather cushions, making it a comfy seating area, or a nice place to curl up with a book. This cottage comes with lots of character, which makes it charming but perhaps not the best choice for those with mobility or balance issues, due to some uneven floors as well as the path down to the entrance, but these are no trouble at all for able-bodied individuals. The path down to the shore is only for the fit, but if that's you, it's great for beachcombing; we only ever saw one other individual, and the kids found more sea glass there than elsewhere. Nearby, we love to watch the waves crash against the rocks at Giant's Staircase, and the kids must stop in at Island Candy Company for ice cream - they even have a lovely garden you can stroll through or sit in while you enjoy your ice cream! Sheri, our host, was beyond helpful and pleasant - not only with great communication before the trip, but even afterwards, when I accidentally left something behind, and she was gracious enough to help track it down and send it back to me.

EPILOGUE & FOOTNOTE THE OWNERS STORY
The story of Epilogue and Footnote started more than a decade ago with our dream of living on a boat. Philip owned a boatyard and had been around boats since childhood. Connie had just published a nonfiction book. We both had retired; the timing was perfect. We bought a 42-foot Kadey Krogen trawler and set out to enjoy the “Epilogue” of our lives. And what better name for Epilogue’s inflatable dinghy/tender than “Footnote?” For six months we traveled the entire Intracoastal Waterway to Florida and then on to the Bahamas. After traveling south, it was time to head north. We spent several summers in Maine, dodging lobster pots, watching seals -whose faces look remarkably like dogs- and chuckled to hear them snort. And of course, we checked off each entry in the long list of lighthouses along Penobscot Bay’s rocky shores. On a cold, dreary summer day, we made our way to Harpswell and joined friends we had met boating. Once we learned how close we were to Portland, we decided “this is it!” - Harpswell is where we wanted to be. We sold our house in Charleston, S.C., and bought our home here in Harpswell. Living on the water was so special there seemed little need to go back out to sea so the boat and dinghy were sold. But Epilogue and Footnote live on in these rental houses - Epilogue, the sparkling new abode, and Footnote, the cozy 1920s cottage. While one dream ended, a new one had just begun.
