About this property

Quaint two bedroom cabin just a few steps away from and on Mountain Rest Lake.

Description
Relax and enjoy the deck of this beautiful cabin or take a kayak or the canoe out on the water. Wake up and watch the morning come alive overlooking the lake from the living room and watch the sun going down each evening. Kitchen is fully equipped. The deck is perfect to grill dinner on the charcoal grill and enjoy the lake views. We have the best view on the lake.

Wireless internet included. Just use your own accounts to access the many apps such as Netflix, Amazon movies, Hulu and many more. Also many DVD are available for your use, most are for children and youth.

Kids indoor games and toys are available.

Come stay with us and enjoy our little slice of heaven on Mountain Rest Lake.

The Chattooga River and many hiking trails are nearby.

Yellow Branch Trail is one of our favorite regular hikes. It’s close by and takes about 2 hours in and out to the waterfall by we usually spend about 3 hours due to playing in the falls.

Across the road from Yellow Branch is Stump House Tunnel. Bring flashlight. Once in the park the tunnel is to the left and the waterfall is to the right. The tunnel is completely dark and is damp inside, but fun. Short hikes but nice waterfall and interesting tunnel to nowhere.

Also from our neighborhood, turn left onto Hwy 28, go to the bridge at the Chattoga River and hike upstream. I don’t know the name of this one but it’s nice and follows the river. Good fishing here also.

It’s a little drive but look up Turtle Back Falls. It’s a very nice hike along a river and passes several falls. It can be quite busy. https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/north-carolina/rainbow-falls-and-turtleback-falls-trail

All about waterfalls

Just on the other side of Highlands NC, about a 40 minute drive is Hwy 64 and it has 3 waterfalls along it. Easy to get to all 3: Bridal Veil Falls, Dry Falls, Bust your Butt Falls. Just a fun drive with easy little walks. If you just want an easy day you could drive through Highlands, see the waterfalls then drive to Clayton Ga and back to Mountain Rest Lake. Clayton traffic for about 2 miles through town can be a bear on the weekends in the fall. It’s a nice loop and there are restaurants in Clayton and Highlands.

Walhalla restaurants
We usually eat at Puerto Nuevo Mexican & Seafood Restaurant in Walhalla. Something on the menu for everyone. It’s nothing fancy but the food is good.

Dakota Grill, just down the hill towards Walhalla. Food is usually quite good. Closed for the winter season.

If you don’t mind driving a little farther (20 minutes) we like Paesano's Italian Restaurant in Seneca.

A beautiful quiet cabin on an extremely peaceful lake. Spent four wonderful days there in perfect relaxation. Everything you need! A lovely set of canoes and paddle boards will really help you to enjoy the water.

Wonderful weekend getaway!

We had a wonderful time. Lake is calm and peaceful. Had fun fishing off the dock and using the kayaks and canoe. The house is well-equipped and comfortable. We will be back!

Quaint, Quiet, Quality

This house is nestled in a beautiful spot right on the lake with a gorgeous view! The house was cozy but provided all of the amenities that one could need for a quiet mountain weekend. We had a great time and would definitely book here again.

We loved our stay at this cabin! It was just perfect for a 5 day stay on our honeymoon. We loved that there was kayaks there and spent a lot of time on the super peaceful lake! Beautiful in the evenings! Also very friendly people in the area. We went to the mountain rest Baptist church and really appreciated the friendliness there!

Scenic and Serene

Very clean and cozy lakehouse with great view of private lake. Easy lake/dock access for fishing, reading, canoeing, or just relaxing and taking in the view. Everything was provided; all we had to bring was food. Good restaurants close by as well. Would come again and bring our two grandkids.

Cozy in the cold

Really enjoyed this place. It was very cold outdoors 15-25 , but cozy inside. We had everything we needed. Owner was very hospitable communicated to make everything easy. Beautiful view of the lake and the wildlife. Perfect for a romantic getaway.

Wonderful location

The cabin is perfect, it has everything you could need plus some. The queen bed was very comfortable, kitchen well stocked, and the AC works great! The two tiered deck was perfect for grilling and eating meals. The dock is a short walk from the deck and setup for fishing and using the kayaks/paddle boards. The waterfalls in the area are a must! We visited 3 and loved all of them. Would definitely come back!

Quiet Getaway

We had a wonderful time at the cabin with the beautiful view of the lake. It was very quiet and relaxing; we kayaked early in the morning and in the evening when the sun went down over the trees. Also met the resident goose, "Ralphie" and enjoyed his company. Great host who responded quickly to questions. We look forward to staying again in the future!

Cozy little cabin in the lake

So cozy, so peaceful-absolutely loved our stay. Perfect place to come back to relax, drink coffee on the deck, swim in the lake, jump off the dock and take the kayaks out for a spin! Oh and the view….loved it! Owner gave us all the information we needed, answered our questions, made suggestions-made communication very easy. Thank you for everything!

Perfect getaway!

My husband and I came to celebrate our 7yr wedding anniversary! It was perfect. We can’t recommend this enough! The host are extremely accommodating and made our stay even better! We had to change the date last minute and they helped us with no hesitation! We relaxed, fished, enjoyed a near by hike, and felt like we had the entire lake to ourselves. We can’t wait to come back with the kids and let them experience Mt Lake Rest!

The cabin was clean, except for you should have an exterminator come in. You have a roach problem. In the kitchen and in the bathroom.The only other suggestion I could have for you is for you to get a satellite and maybe be charged just a little bit more so that at least somebody could watch TV and sports and movies.And if you had one of the dusters for outside to get rid of the cobwebs, cobwebs are everywhere.

This is our second time staying here and hopefully will not be our last. This property is seriously something special. There's something about it that just instantly feels like home and always has us leaving feeling recharged. The cabin is wonderfully equipped with everything you may need to enjoy your stay. It's always clean and kept up. There's so much to do from enjoying the views in the home or on the deck, paddles on the lake, or exploring the area. We had a great stay here! The place was clean and well kept, and the owner was very helpful. The lake was small (which we knew ahead of time), but it was great for paddling and swimming in. And we loved how peaceful the lake was (no motor boats)! We had our own paddleboards so we didn't use the owner crafts, but they had multiple kayaks/paddleboards available for use. Overall a great stay and we will be back!

this cabin was fabulous! overlooking the lake it was the perfect respite i needed. i took the kayak out early mornings and in the evening. the convenience of being right on the water is everything. the cabin is well stocked and the bed was super comfy. there’s no reason to leave!!i was traveling solo, and margaret checked in to make sure i arrived safely. that’s incredible hospitality, thank you!

We are the Harrison family. My husband, 2 sons and I love going to the lake as often as we can. We live in Augusta Georgia but love Mountain Rest Lake! Fishing, swimming and paddling a boat around the lake are our favorite things to do.

Why they chose this property

We used to camp nearby to visit my mother and sister that both live on Mountain Rest Lake. We were so excited when we found this perfect little cabin.

What makes this property unique

We fell in love with our cabin instantly. The view is magnificent and we always enjoy waking up and watching the day begin and come alive on the lake. Watch the birds landing or swimming by and turtles and fish surfacing. If you are an outdoor enthusiast like us you will also love the hiking trails nearby and the Chattoga River is very close also.
