Journey back in time and relax in the Bluebird Cottage of Mountain Rest Lake. Nestled in the woods, this charming lake front retreat offers a multitude of activities for peace seekers and outdoor enthusiasts alike.
The newly restored 1940's cottage is a sanctuary of rest and beauty. Walk to the dock and enjoy paddling, fishing, swimming or just relaxing lakeside. Sit on one of the screened porches with your morning coffee and breathe in the fresh air. Enjoy a perfect sunset view and star gazing at the end of your day. Close to great hiking trails and waterfalls, Clemson football games (45 min.) or a visit to Clayton GA (30 min.) or Highlands NC (35 min.). There are excellent dining opportunities within 15-30 miles. Art galleries, antique stores and many boutique shops are nearby and waiting to be explored!

This place was immaculate and decorated very nice. It is in a peaceful, serene woodsy area with beautiful views of lake. The host is very generous and had coffee, creamer sugar, few snacks and pantry staples. She also allowed use of kayaks and tubes/floats, life vests etc . Excellent host! Lots of games, books and puzzles available too. Would definately recommend!

Very off the beaten path and peaceful directly on the lake. The decor was perfect in every detail. Beds were comfortable and everything was impeccably clean. We had everything we needed, including coffee and creamer, spices, condiments, tin foil and plastic wrap. Outside gas grill for cookout. Lovely quiet peaceful stay.

The property was absolutely beautiful! We had a little trouble with the internet when we got there (from no fault of Barbie's of course). She went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and that we stayed in touch with out kiddos while away! I appreciate the cleanliness and the gorgeous decor of the Lakeside Haven. I would definitely return!

Beautiful cottage

My husband and I came to celebrate Valentine's day in a peaceful, calm place and we couldnt have found a better one! This cottage is perfect for peace and seclusion, but not too far from civilization. We loved it and will defintely come back soon!

We had a lovely time at The Bluebird Cottage. The house was just as described. Actually it was better than described. Being there and sitting on the porch overlooking the lake was so relaxing. The kitchen is well stocked and we enjoyed cooking meals with a view. The location was perfect for chasing waterfalls and we saw 7 this trip. I especially enjoyed the peaceful spin around the lake in the provided kayak. I would recommend this house to anyone looking for outdoor adventures in the area with a comfortable, cozy place to return that makes you feel right at home.

A GEM at Mtn Rest Lake!

The bluebird cottage is a very special place. Clean, cozy, well decorated with a great host. It has EVERYTHING you need to escape the hustle and bustle of life! We enjoyed sitting on the back porch looking at the peaceful lake and also a little fishing off the pier. We would recommend this property to anyone who needs a BREAK and just needs to slow down and relax.

Mountain lake retreat

Love this spot in Mountain Rest! Such a quiet and peaceful location and a wonderful and comfortable cottage overlooking the lake. Had a wonderful time unwinding and visiting local friends and celebrating my retirement. Will be back!

We loved the cute cabin which was right on a little lake. The surroundings were so peaceful and the cabin was nicely decorated and had all the comforts of home. Barbie was extremely accommodating and responsive. We highly recommend!

Best Hidden gem in the upstate

This is probably the best place that I have ever stayed! The attention to small details and the welcome gifts made us feel right at home from the moment we walked into the door. Home away from home

This is our 2nd stay at Bluebird Cottage. The addition of the Edison bulb lights on the screen porch facing the lake was a pleasant surprise as were the fresh sunflowers on the kitchen counter. The cottage is so comfortable we already consider it our home away from home. We will definitely return!!

Bluebird beauty

This bluebird cottage is so charming, you wont believe it. Besides being decorated with such taste, it is pristinely clean!! Follow the driving directions provided by the owner, the roads are lake country gravel but easily managed if you drive slowly. We thoroughly enjoyed being in this charming setting.

Beautiful place to stay

Beautiful cabin on lake. Wonderful place to stay and relax. The cabin decor is beautiful. Beds are super comfortable with nice linens. Cabin is well supplied. Host is super sweet. Mornings enjoyed sitting on back porch watching the ducks and drinking coffee. In the evenings family and I would enjoy the larger front porch. The fire pit and comfortable seating made it so nice to sit out. Even on the coldest nights.

This cozy cottage is so serene. It was a perfect getaway for my husband and I. I loved waking up and drinking coffee with such a beautiful view of the water. Lovely with thoughtful accents

Enjoyed time in this well appointed cottage. Lovely place for reconnection. Did enjoy the kayak on the small lake. Did not attempt the trip through the culvert to the big lake (as one neighbor suggested). Beds were comfortable and linens were nice quality. Thank you for sharing your cabin. And the painted signs and backsplash are delightful.
