Quiet escape for R+R
Worth the 20-25min drive from downtown to be high up among the pine trees and get a glimpse of Lake Whatcom. Quiet cul-de-sac. Steep driveway and well-lit multiple uneven steps though so not fit for anyone with mobility issues but for us it was fine. We don’t usually take advantage of hot tubs but this one was nice and private. Enjoyed the balcony/decks. Beware of any fire ban signs- there was one while we stayed here so we didn’t use the fire pit with logs. Kitchen had everything needed and definitely appreciated the coffee beans and grinder and french press. Wifi was reliable and we had 4 of us using it including for a few days of remote work. We enjoyed having the chess set and scrabble and guitar too which helped with our family time. We’ll be back!

Beautiful Home
We loved everything and the house is great. I did not see anything in the description regarding the very steep driveway and climb on uneven slanted stairs, that would have been nice to know since carrying suitcases and coolers, I am just glad we did not have any grandparents with us or that would have been a disaster. I do think you should mention this in your listing or if someone can't get to your home due to physical limitations a refund clause should be noted at minimum. Other than that everything was great.

Tree top retreat
Amazing property, so quiet and secluded. A great tree top retreat. Everything is clean and well done! Complete with complementary wine and chocolate… we loved our Soaring Eagle Lodge experience!!! Tons of hiking nearby. By the way… make sure to make a trip to Taylor Shellfish for 🦀 lunch. One of the best lunch west coast casual seafood experiences around.

Hello happy travelers!

We are Owen and Kristin, and we love our job of creating magical retreats for our guests to stay and relax in. Owen is a former contractor and I am an Alaska Airlines flight attendant, and both are real estate brokers. We pride ourselves on creating a rewarding experience for all of our guests. We buy (or help our clients buy) unique properties all around the PNW. We then remodel these homes to chic faux-rustic design. All the way through sourcing furniture and stocking shelves the process goes on. We love family, skiing, hiking, traveling, gardening, photography and searching for new properties to renovate.
Our adventure started 4 years ago as house flippers and helping our clients do the same. Things took a turn when we completed our 3 cabin remodels. The plan was to finish and sell them so we could roll into other flips, but the night before listing, while sitting around the campfire, we decided to roll the dice and keep the cabins and turn them into Vacation Rentals. That single decision has completely changed our lives and business plan.

Owen and Kristin

Why they chose this property

Our client's and co-hosts have been searching for the right property for years. Together in the early part of 2021 we met and started looking at various properties across the PNW. After a short bit of time the short term rental discussion came up (as it has with many others), and then direction changed to find the perfect property that the owners and guests all could enjoy. The owners are also avid mountain bikers, and just in the back yard you have mountain biking paradise! Galbraith Mountain and Lookout Mountain are both some of the best hiking and mountain biking areas in the PNW. This particular home also offers the privacy and full mountain feel while also close to all things convenient. With an easy remodel to bring the true charm out of this place, we created the Soaring Eagle Lodge :)
