About this property
The perfect lakefront cabin close to Acadia National Park
Lantern Shores is the perfect lakefront cabin located on George's Pond. If you’re looking to get away, disconnect and get into nature, it has everything you could want for a quiet, peaceful Maine vacation. Its rustic ambiance has all of the modern-day amenities without sacrificing the experience. It is lake life at its best! Whether you like to swim, fish, kayak, paddleboard, or just fall asleep listening to the loons sing and awaken to the sunrise watching eagles and osprey feed on the lake, this is where it's at. This cabin is nestled on George's Pond which is a 380-acre spring-fed lake surrounded by glimpses of Schoodic Mountain. This cabin sleeps 8 (king master bed, 2 twin beds, double bed in the loft, and 2 twin beds in the garage loft). We are minutes to Schoodic Mountain and Schoodic Beach which is a great place to hike and swim or have a picnic on Donnell’s Pond. Schoodic’s summit is flat with 360-degree breathtaking views over Frenchman Bay and Mount Desert Island. The Downeast Sunrise Trail is a revamped railway with miles of trail for biking, hiking, ATV, or walking (see website for more information) just 5 minutes from the cabin. Schoodic Head is 30 minutes towards Winter Harbor and also part of Acadia National Park. There you will find beautiful hikes, a cute harbor town, great ice cream and see some more of beautiful Maine. The cabin is 40 minutes to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor. Acadia National Park, known as the North Atlantic crown jewel, protects some of the most beautiful and highest rocky coastline. You can hike, mountain bike, shop the island boutiques, dine in Bar Harbor restaurants, go on a whale watch or grab a delicious homemade ice cream cone. You can also play golf at the famous Kebo Valley course. Adventure awaits! On your way home, stop and pick blueberries and make a cobbler or relax on the screen porch. This rare screen porch is sure to relax you and is the perfect place to start the day with a cup of coffee or to take an afternoon nap. We provide kayaks and life vests. There are multiple local bikes, kayaks, and boat rentals available. Acadia is a must-see but George's Pond is where the memories are made!

About the host
Hosted by Danielle Hartley

My husband grew up in Bar Harbor. As a child, he spent his summers "upta camp" swimming, boating, fishing, and hiking. He wanted our son to grow up making those same memories. We love George's Pond. It is our happy place.

There are many great hikes, biking trails, and nature's attractions nearby. George's Pond is where you can truly disconnect, relax, and get into nature.
What makes this property unique
George’s Pond is unique because of its location, incredible nature and wildlife. It is lake life at its best and close to great hiking, mountain biking, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.
