Waterfront Retreat: Hot Tub, Kayaks, Bikes & Lake Superior Access
Welcome to your private waterfront retreat on the Chocolay River, where you can kayak to Lake Superior, bike to downtown Marquette, relax in the new (2025) hot tub, and experience the best of Michigan's Upper Peninsula from one unforgettable location. Just minutes from downtown Marquette, this peaceful riverfront setting offers easy access to restaurants, breweries, shopping, beaches, hiking, and everything the Upper Peninsula has to offer.
Set on 100 feet of private river frontage, the backyard is designed for making memories. Enjoy your morning coffee on the covered porch, spend the afternoon kayaking, prepare dinner on either the Blackstone griddle or propane grill, then gather around the fire pit or relax in the hot tub beneath the stars. Kids will spend hours playing on the custom pirate ship playhouse while adults enjoy the peaceful river views from the expansive 530-square-foot elevated deck.
Outdoor recreation begins right outside your door. • Take the stairs down to the river to kayak the Chocolay River to Lake Superior or simply relax and enjoy the peaceful waterfront. • Ride the nearby Heritage Trail to downtown Marquette using the complimentary cruiser bikes. • Watch bald eagles soaring overhead, migratory birds, and frequent visits from local wildlife including rabbits, chipmunks, and Marquette's distinctive black squirrels. • Explore the protected Chocolay Bayou Nature Preserve directly across the river. • In winter, access Marquette's extensive snowmobile trail system directly from the driveway.
Inside, the home is warm, inviting, and thoughtfully designed to maximize the river views. Large windows fill the living room with natural light while the fireplace creates the perfect place to gather after a day outdoors.
Whether you're preparing a quick breakfast before exploring or cooking a family dinner, the kitchen is stocked with everything you need to cook for your group, including a full assortment of cookware, cooking utensils, serving pieces, basic spices and seasonings, an Instant Pot, a countertop air fryer, and many of the thoughtful extras that make preparing meals easy while you're away from home. Cherry cabinetry, granite countertops, heated floors, and a large island provide plenty of space for everyone to gather.
Upstairs, the primary suite overlooks the river and features a walk-in closet and private bathroom with granite countertops and a tiled tub/shower. Two additional bedrooms and a full bathroom provide comfortable accommodations for family and friends. Traveling with little ones? A nursery with a crib is available, and a high chair is provided so you can pack a little lighter. The lower-level bedroom also serves as an ideal second living space or playroom, giving everyone room to spread out.
Whether you're planning a family vacation, a couples' getaway, an outdoor adventure, or simply a peaceful weekend beside the river, this waterfront retreat is the perfect home base for experiencing everything Marquette has to offer. We thoughtfully maintain the home using primarily non-toxic cleaning products whenever possible to provide a fresh, comfortable environment for our guests.

The owner was very easy to work with and my grandchildren loved the playground in the back. Also very nice backyard.

Thank you, Debra! I am so glad you enjoyed the backyard, and your grandkids enjoyed the playground. I think you'll love the improvements I made since you were here even more! Please come stay another time!
The house had a little bit of everything. Plenty of inside and outside things to do. Host was very easy to reach and discuss things that came up.

Thank you so much for your kind review! It was a pleasure hosting you and your family, and we truly appreciated how thoughtfully you cared for the home during your stay and how considerate you were at checkout!
We’d love to welcome you back anytime you’re planning another trip to Marquette!
Valerie was an excellent host, quick to communicate, we had our access details nice and early. The property itself is lovely, this was actually our second visit and it didn't disappoint the second time around! The view from the backyard is beautiful, listening to the sounds of the frogs and crickets while relaxing in the hot tub at night was lovely. The kitchen was excellently stocked with lots of baking trays and pots and pans, it made cooking for our group a breeze. Beds were all comfy, as was the living room furniture, with a big TV for relaxing together. You're also close to plenty to do, a hike up Sugarloaf Mountain overlooking Superior just across town and a pleasant little downtown to explore in Marquette. Only a 40 minute drive over to Munising to do some kayaking at Pictured Rocks too! Highly recommend booking this property if you're visiting the area :)

Thank you for such a wonderful review! I’m so glad you and your friends were able to stay here a second time! Have a great summer and I hope you can stay again!
Stayed with a group during the Noque ski weekend. We loved it, especially the hot tub! Kitchen was extremely well stocked. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Drive to UNM/downtown Marquette took less than 10 minutes. We are already planning a repeat stay for next year!

I’m so glad you loved it! And you had bitter cold temps! I really look forward to hosting you again!!
Great space, plenty of room for all of us to fit. And when my aunt locked the wrong part of the door, essentially locking us out, they were quick to come and unlock the door for us. Will definitely consider staying here again the next time we’re in the area

Thank you for your review and glad we were able to help with the door! I really hope you can stay here again sometime!
Valerie responded quickly to a couple of questions we had. This is probably the best-stocked Vrbo home we’ve stayed at - plenty of towels, washcloths, kitchen tools, pantry spices, etc!

Perfect place for our needs. Beautiful view from the deck/living room!! I only gave a low score for communication to host because we didn't need anything!!
