About this property

Mountains in Your Face

Come enjoy the glorious views of Taos Mountain and the Sangre de Cristo Range from Luna Vista just outside Taos.. Summer is coming on so book for this popular season of warm days and cool nights. There is lots to do in the area. Visit Taos Pueblo, eat at any number of excellent restaurants or shop around the Plaza. Or, stay home and relax in attractive Southwestern surroundings and comfort. The house, patio and hot tub all have stunning views. The kitchen is large and well-equipped. The house sleeps five, depending on family/friends preferences. Sleeping features are a bedroom with a massive king sleigh bed and another room with two queens. The sofa pulls out to a queen in the living room as well. The house is built with traditional viga (beam) ceilings and tile floors, and sports furniture built for comfort. There is original Southwestern art work on the walls and a cozy TV nook with recliners off the living room. The banquet-style dining room table is great for entertaining but the home encourages intimate get-aways as well. Keep us in mind and we hope to see you soon. Please note that the $160 per night rental fee covers two people. Additional guests are $20 per person per night.

Relaxing winter getaway

The house was spacious, clean and the decor was very pretty. This place was plenty large for a group of 4, along with 4 dogs. The wood burning fireplace and hot tub are a bonus during the cold winter months, we really enjoyed our stay here!

We loved our stay. House was clean and well supplied for a comfortable stay. Hot tub was very clean and worked great. Great views. Convenient 5 minute drive to Taos and close to Enchanted Circle drive. Great communication and everything went really smoothly. Will recommend to others and will stay again.

Relaxing Getaway

We spent 4 days in this lovely home which is well stocked with all the essentials for kitchen and bath. The hot tub was so enjoyable to come home to after a day of hiking or sightseeing. The location was peaceful and serene and we walked up to the top of the street for the most amazing sunset on our last night there. We hope to be back soon!

Lovely home

Home was beautiful and fully stocked with everything you could possibly need for an extended stay. It is a bit far from the center of town and with snow it was at times challenging but the kiva fireplace and hot tub made the commute over the unpaved road worth it. Thank you to Madrona for being a great caretaker and available when you need information.

Beautiful view of the mountains. Nice roomy house. About a quarter mile of rough dirt road to get to the house, and an annoying number of large speed bumps on the paved streets.

Just what we needed.

Luna Vista is a special Taos property. It sits on a nice parcel of land in a quiet neighborhood just outside of town. Both the owner and property manager were attentive to our needs and also gave us space. The views are gorgeous, and the silence was just what we needed. Bright warm sunshine and big blue skies during the day, and star-filled, moonlit skies at night. As a bonus, we connected with the fly-fishing guide in town and had a very memorable day on the Rio Grande. We hope we are able to return!

So I didn’t get to stay at this property- my husband and young adult son stayed here while on a short ski trip. They loved it. Husband said the house was amazing- beds comfy- clean- house even had some coffee in freezer!! Maybe I can go next year and we can get this place again! First hand, communication with the house manager, Madrona, was great! She was extremely responsive and helpful throughout my hubs and kid’s stay. Recommend 💯!

Roomy and Comfortable

We and our pooch were very comfortable during our early February visit. The house is spacious enough for a larger group, yet always felt cozy for the three of us. Being a few miles from town, the HDTV channel selection was much appreciated - better than any vacation home we have visited, with the added bonus of a PVR to save and watch our chosen programming over the course of the week. The Wi-Fi was speedy and reliable, as well. The area is quiet and the mountain views are special. We didn't try the second bathroom but the master bedroom shower was somewhat tricky, requiring a fair bit of fiddling to get the right temperature. Perhaps a change in shower head would improve the experience as well. The master shower is the only reason for not giving the home a full five stars. Madrona, the caretaker was friendly and helpful. We would go back in future visits to the Taos area.

Taos with Mountain Views

House with wonderful mountain views in two directions. Once we got our bearings, location was easy to get to and to get to downtown Taos area. House was very comfortable with two bedrooms and two bathrooms. Ample space to relax in living and dining rooms. Kitchen had all appliances one would need. Since we stayed a full month, we settled in nicely. Property manager greeted us upon arrival and showed us around the property. Would stay again.

After a career as a print journalist, I wrote a non-fiction book at the casita on the property I now call home. The book is called Finding Home: How Americans Prevail. A native of Kansas City, I have lived in New Mexico for almost 25 years. I moved briefly to San Francisco in 2011, and then to the California Delta 2013, after an extensive book tour. I owned and ran an art gallery and store in Isleton, CA, for four years. Now, when my husband, dog and I are not at 30A Valerio Rd. North in Taos, we are traveling the country in our retro Winnebago Brave.
At home and during travels, I am working on a novel, and sketching and painting the countryside we pass through.



























Why they chose this property

The mountains and quality of light found in and around Taos have become part of my soul. I love the organic feel of an adobe house. Plus I am a sucker for a view. That's why I chose my particular viewing spot. The sunrises and sunsets always delight. Watching the moon rise from the portal is magic.
