Perfect location for hiking in Shenandoah National Park
A very nice home with lots of room and place to relax after hiking in Shenandoah National Park. The house is very quaint and in a great location. Highly recommended!
We were able to walk everywhere in town and enjoyed the Greenway. The Shen Nat'l Park is just a short drive away, which makes visiting the park on multiple days very easy!
Great location, with short walk to coffee shops downtown and short, easy drive to Shenandoah National Park. Home was clean, comfortable, and spacious. Owner was very accommodating with our change in plans.
This was our first overnight trip as a family of 6! Our 4 children, ages ranging from 9 months to 7 years, had an absolute blast. We enjoyed this location being so close to Luray Caverns and being on Main Street. We hope to come back for a full weekend so can experience more restaurants and shops that close on Sunday.
We found this home to be the perfect spot for a long weekend in Luray with our two kids. The house was clean, comfortable and the owners had thought of everything from hand sanitizer to a step stool for the kids to coffee! We hope to be back someday! Thank you!
The owner was very prompt at answering questions. The house was clean and the decor was lovely. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen and bathrooms provided all of our basic needs. Thank you!
We spent three nights at the property with our teen aged granddaughters. It is very convenient to both Luray Caverns and Shenandoah National Park. The home was very clean and nicely decorated. The air conditioners in the bedrooms upstairs were very noisy. Not downstairs though.
Overall nice house. Upstairs full bath sink is cracked in 2 large areas, no plug for a tub bath. My toddler would have preferred to have a bath over a shower. Kitchen is clean and user friendly. House has plenty of room.
Sounds like birds are inside the walls of the upstairs bath, you can hear them flying and making noise ( in bad weather).
This commodious cottage is a great spot for a getaway of any length of time. It was hard to leave after spending a short weekend away. The host has provided everything needed for a comfortable stay. The cottage looks small from the Main Street, but it has 2 generous sized bedrooms plus a smaller one just right for kids, one and a half bathrooms, an office, a dining room, an eat in kitchen, a mudroom off the back, off street parking, outdoor seating and laundry in the basement. We enjoyed sitting on the porch swing while sipping our evening wine. We were very happy and content. Communications with the owner were perfect, and we had no trouble following his excellent instructions.
The cottage is very well located with shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. The Luray Caverns, which are a "Must See", are about a 7 minute drive away. We also went wine tasting at DuCard Winery, which is well worth the drive. There are a number of other wineries in the area, along with hiking, antiquing and other outdoor pursuits to enjoy in the area.
First off - I love the swing on the front porch! This house has plenty of space upstairs, downstairs, and outside. Just realize that there are 2 bathrooms, and only 1 shower/bath, as stated in the description. (BTW - the towels are luxurious!) We cooked breakfast inside and grilled dinners outside - the kitchen had plenty of supplies. There is central air downstairs and a/c units upstairs. We had to get used to the units turning on/off at night, but the 2 rooms with units were nice and cool. The small trundle bed room has a big fan. There is even an office with a desk which is closed off with glass doors in case you need to get some work done; and the internet connection is great. The house is on the main street of Luray and you can walk to little shops. Even though it's on main street, there is not much noticeable noise. Enjoy this little jewel!

Thanks a lot for staying at the house Dana! We hope to see you again!
Home ideally in downtown Luray and accommodations were great for myself, daughter and two granddaughters. We were in town for our nephew’s wedding. Unfortunately, the weather didn’t cooperate with the rain preventing us from exploring more of the area. We did fine at two lovely restaurants and met family at the local brewery.
We experienced two issues with the property, the first being the upstairs bath sink did not drain after turning it on the very first time, resulting in us not being able to use and relying on the downstairs bathroom sink. Secondly, the dining room rug was curled up on edge that was directly in the pathway between the kitchen and living room, presenting a possible trip hazard.
Both items totally fixable.
The outdoors of this home would certainly be quiet enjoyable between the lovely swing on the front porch and spacious backyard with furniture to use in ideal weather.
We came to Luray to visit the caverns with our daughter and grandsons. The house is centrally located and so cute!! The three adults all agreed that the decor, cleanliness, and the really comfortable beds mean that we will be back!
My daughter and I stayed in the home 2 nights for a quick weekend trip! The host was very receptive and responded immediately to any questions. We had all the comforts of home, from the coffee maker to games! The beds were absolutely exquisite! The house has charm and is centrally located in Luray! We will definitely stay again!
The house is the perfect location for hiking in the Shenandoah Mountain area. This was our purpose in visiting, and we were very happy with the house and our stay. The host allowed us to check in early so we had the whole afternoon to visit the caverns and stock up at Walmart.
We loved staying in this house for our first time going to Shenandoah. It was so close to the park and the perfect amount of space for our family! Thanks to the host for a great vacation!
Probably the best communication I’ve had with property owners with renting on VRBO. House is in a great location, everything in downtown we walked to, super close to the caverns and quite a few wineries. Had a great time, would recommend and would stay in the house again.

Why they chose this property
We chose this house because it's walking distance from the beautiful, quaint downtown of Luray. It also has a lot of history, when it was first built, Luray was tiny, with not much off Main Street - then it was made into an office space, and finally most recently, a home for Shenandoah National Park's Park Rangers.
What makes this property unique
When you stay at this house, you're 6 minutes from Luray Caverns and 14 minutes from Shenandoah National Park's Thornton Gap Entrance - and walking distance to awesome restaurants, stores, and coffee shops like Gathering Grounds.
