The Space:

Morning light filters through east‑facing windows, casting a soft glow over the forest‑lined deck as birds begin their chorus. A gentle breeze carries the scent of pine and budding wildflowers, inviting you to step outside and breathe in the fresh mountain air. After a day of hiking nearby trails, the private hot tub steams quietly under a sky streaked with pink‑orange twilight, while the fire pit crackles, offering a perfect spot to unwind. Inside, the loft‑style chalet feels open and welcoming, with tall windows framing the surrounding woods and a cozy living area ready for relaxed evenings.

Sleeping arrangements

Two bedrooms each feature a queen bed, complete with fresh linens, extra pillows, and blankets to keep you comfortable during cooler spring nights. The single bathroom provides all the essentials for a refreshed start to each day.

Kitchen & dining

A full kitchen is equipped for everyday cooking, from a quick breakfast before a hike to a leisurely dinner around the spacious deck. The adjacent dining area keeps the group together, and a BBQ grill on the deck makes outdoor meals easy and enjoyable.

Outdoor living

Step onto the expansive deck to soak in the forest setting, where budding trees and gentle rustle of leaves create a serene backdrop. The private hot tub offers soothing warmth, and the fire pit adds a cozy gathering point as the sun sets. A collection of yard games is available for both kids and adults, and free on‑site parking makes arrivals hassle‑free. The backyard is open and not fully fenced, providing ample space to relax.

Work and comfort

A dedicated workspace in a separate room with its own door ensures privacy for any work you need to attend to. Fast WiFi and a TV with Roku keep you connected and entertained, while heating maintains a comfortable temperature and window AC is ready for warmer afternoons.

Location

Forest Haven sits a short drive from Berkeley Springs’ shops and restaurants, historic Harpers Ferry, and Winchester’s breweries and wineries. Numerous hiking trails wind through the area, offering year‑round opportunities to explore the rolling hills and forested paths.

Perfect for

This pet‑friendly cabin welcomes couples, families, and small groups of friends seeking a quiet mountain retreat. Dogs are welcome, but cats are not allowed due to allergies. The space is ideal for those who want to unplug, enjoy nature, and still have the comforts of a well‑appointed home.

Note

The indoor fireplace is decorative only and currently non‑functional. Our cleaning team sweeps the deck, stairs, and walkways before each arrival, but you may still notice leaves, pollen, or similar natural traces, especially during spring.

Returning home to VA

Just an overnight stay. On our way back home from northern New York. The place was nice. It is peaceful sitting on the deck. The check in process was a little tedious with various emails and downloads required. The Backstep is a little sketchy. Be careful walking in. Overall the place was nice

beautiful treetop setting

The property was immaculate with new furnishings. I was able to access the house an hour early on the day of arrival, thanks to great communication from owner. He checked in to make sure I didn't have any questions later that day. I booked the property for some peace and quiet and it certainly met my expectations. Stairs to loft room, where TV is located, are quite steep but my 10-year old dog and I got used to it.

Serene beauty

Words cannot express the experience we had at this beautiful cabin. They just would not do it justice, but I am going to try. Driving to the cabin, in the neighborhood, you feel a sense of serenity and peace. The neighborhood seems like a family place. Full of love and joy. Ample parking is provided at the cabin. The excitement amplified as we see a fire pit and what our view will be from the porch. We open the door to an absolutely clean and fresh smelling cabin. We arrived at dusk, which made our view out the large windows even more beautiful than the pictures on the site portrayed. We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed every second of our time in the cabin. We went grocery shopping at the food lion 14 min away, and just had a perfectly quiet retreat in the home. My two complaints, I couldn’t stay longer…and I couldn’t find a pen to sign the guest book. I am almost wary of writing a good review… because soon enough I won’t be able to afford to come back again. We are already planning our return trip with our kids and fur babies.

Beautiful Cabin in the woods

The house has been newly furnished and looks out over wooded valley. You're far enough away from everyone else, but it's a quick 15 minute ride to the Food Lion. Only limitation: the TV is in the bedroom in the loft.

I live in DC with my wife and three young kids. I love camping/hiking, drinking (and sometimes brewing) great beer and wine, exploring new restaurants and shops, and traveling all over.

Why they chose this property

We spent years searching for the perfect getaway, and wanted to be close enough to DC that we could do a day trip. We fell in love with the area – and Forest Haven in particular. We love how cute and cozy our cabin is, and all the fun outdoor activities we can enjoy year-round. :)
