We absolutely loved this place. The host was friendly and went above and beyond from start to finish. This is a true secluded retreat, the cottage has its own open-air porch with a hammock and a rocking chair, plus al fresco dining that looks straight out onto the forest, which is literally a step away. The grill worked perfectly, and so did the fire pit down by the tree line. At night the sky is unbelievably gorgeous, you get lost counting stars adjacent to the core of the Milky Way.Honestly, the photos on the listing don’t do it justice. The interior is fabulous, every amenity was functional, and the bed was very comfortable, and I mean VERY. It’s classic Vermont simple living, with neighbors far enough away that time seems to stop and the clock slows down.Back to hassle and bustle of NYC and frankly, can’t wait to come back and count the leaves!!!!

Photos and the description were wonderfully accurate, but don't show just how cute and cozy the place is! The hosts were responsive to any questions and suggestions. We loved our stay - will recommend it to all of our friends and hope to be back next year. The only issue was that we were so busy visiting family that we didn't get to hang out at the cabin enough!

Great leaf peeping in VT

We had a great time at the small, seculded cabin. It was perfect for myself, significant other, and our dog. We really enjoyed the large window and listening to the creek just below us.

Snowy Vermont getaway!

My husband, myself and our dog really enjoyed this beautiful cabin. And it snowed for us while we were there! We are from SC so we hardly ever see snow, what a treat! Cabin was super clean and the bed was so comfy, we will definitely be coming back.

The place was just as advertised. Clean, cute, awesome views of the woods and stream. The owner spent time letting us and our daughter meet the chickens and peacock. Hoping to stay again!

Cozy cabin

We most recently stayed at Brookside Cabin on the Budding Homestead and had the pleasure of meeting the owners and their children. The cabin was spacious, clean and nicely decorated-large comfortable bed, living room, kitchen facilities and bathroom with shower and tub. They also had a propane heater which made the cabin comfortable in the chilly evenings. We truly enjoyed our stay and will definitely return.

Short Get Away

The property and accommodation were very clean and was as stated on the reservation. Unfortunately nothing was close for eating out or things to do. Most things were at least 45 min to 1.5 hours away.

Winter Respite

Highest praise for this place and the hosts. The larger property and the cabin itself are beautifully kept and everything in the listing is as pictured - comfy and nicely decorated and with all the basics for one or two people…but better than pictured because of the amazing setting on the edge of the woods next to a brook. It was perfect to be in the coziness of the house with that huge picture window, bringing the outdoors in with you. I also sat on the porch, all wrapped up, and listened to the silence (except for the sound of the brook). Thanks Keith and Erika for the perfect winter getaway - my only regret was that I forgot my snow shoes and that my stay wasn’t longer.

Amazing, secluded location with a babbling brook!

This is probably one of the best views and experiences I’ve had in a short-term rental. The scenery was superb and so relaxing. I was here at the end of February, with snow on the ground, and it was a winter wonderland. The cabin itself is well-appointed and very comfortable, even for such a small space. I had all the pots and pans I needed to cook for one every day. (I stayed here for 2 weeks, which is probably longer than most people.) Remember the fridge size and don’t over shop! Tankless water heater, so there was plenty of hot water. If you need to work while you’re visiting, including video calls, the router is in the cabin and I connected just fine with the Ethernet cord I brought along. Everything is so well put-together and organized and the furnishings are all very cozy and comfortable. An excellent stay with very considerate hosts.

A cozy, perfect, secluded slice of heaven! Wish we would could have stayed longer!

The place was exceptionally clean when we arrived. It was a cozy little cabin, decorated beautifully & updated. The drive out to the cabin is secluded & down a dirt road. it's a beautiful drive with rolling hills & farms. We personally didn't have any cell service (there is wifi at the cabin!) so we had to put in the address to the cabin before we left our destination & before if we went anywhere using the wifi. It was nice being set apart from the world for a little while. The bed was so comfy - best sleep we had the entire trip! we may or may not have researched & found a bed similar to buy when we arrived home. My favorite was having coffee on the couch in front of the large window overlooking the brook & trees. We had our 1 year old with us & she enjoyed climbing up & down the soft foot stools with a good sized area for her to crawl/walk (she's learning) & play with her toys. We also had enough room to set up her playpen. There is a little sink, refrigerator with freezer, toaster oven & an electric tabletop stove. They provide a couple cups, silverware, bowls, plates and a kettle. I had to learn how to do the pour over method for coffee - easy and the coffee was smooth & delicious. The propane heater added to the coziness of the cabin. Very down to earth, nice & hospitable owners! We met Keith during our stay, who brought us down a pint of maple syrup locally collected ($15/pint - worth it & delicious!). He showed us the property & gave recommendations! A wonderful stay!

We had the most wonderful stay at the Brookside Cabin on Budding Homestead last weekend while attending the Jenny Brook Bluegrass Festival Brookside cabin on Budding Homestead - Washington - Vrbo! It was the absolute perfect, peaceful haven to come back to after a full day of music. Our favorite part of each evening was completely relaxing on the porch in the hammock swing, soaking in the beautiful, soothing sounds of the stream running right below us. After long days out, winding down in the incredibly comfy bed was pure heaven. While the cabin feels like a secluded escape, it was a fantastic home base for exploring. We loved making the scenic, hour-long drives through the gorgeous Vermont landscape to visit Hill Farmstead Brewery and grab a bite at Worthy Burger in South Royalton. Everything about our stay felt so restorative and cozy. Because we were out and about so much, we barely saw our hosts, but Keith and Erika were so friendly—communicating wonderfully through messages and giving us a warm wave whenever we crossed paths. They made sure we felt completely accommodated from start to finish. We are already looking forward to our next visit!
