I can't say enough about this property! Hannah met us at arrival and walked us through the property. She also gave us a tour and introduced us to Star and Nova. She also included little touches to make us feel at home. I would highly recommend staying at Sweet Retreat!

Wonderful space, lovely hosts, gorgeous views, and musk oxen...what more could one want? :)

We stayed at Hannah and Ray's home and had a fantastic time. The welcoming touches were so thoughtful. Every detail was perfect but the misty sunrises over the trees were our favorite. The property is gorgeous and the home is comfortable. We will definitely be telling friends and family to book here in the future!

Not like renting a guesthouse, it's like staying at an Inn!

It's like you are one of the family having come to stay. Hannah filled the fridge with breakfast food so we had something to cook after a late arrival, she put a cot and extra blankets in the room that we needed for the kids, and took the family on a sleigh ride without asking a dime in addition! This was the warmest stay we have ever had, and we rent in Vermont quite a bit. Thank you for your hospitality, it was so generous and kind!

We truly enjoyed having this family visit. They were very interested in all that we are doing at our farm. And they left the guesthouse spotless!

Country bliss

A beautiful stay in the woods in an immaculate sunny apartment. The oxen were awesome and the maple sugar house quite an operation. The property also boasts a beaver pond with dams and all. A beautiful stay any season of the year. Hannah was most helpful and friendly. It was special being greeted with a bottle of wine pancake mix maple sugar made on the property snd a refrigerator filled with butter milk snd orange juice. The apartment is quiet and the o my sounds are from the breezes gently blowing

It is always a delight to have guests who are interested in our "hobbies": oxen, maple sugaring, and hiking trails. Joan and Bob were perfect guests!

We had an incredible stay at this beautiful property in Northfield. We were in town visiting family, and this home gave us the perfect balance—allowing us to spend quality time together while still having our own peaceful retreat without imposing on anyone. From the moment we walked in, it truly felt like a home away from home. The open, spacious layout made it easy to relax, and the thoughtful touches—especially the breakfast items—made us feel genuinely welcomed. Each morning was something special. Waking up to the calming sounds of birds and watching the sun peek over the tree-covered mountains created a peaceful, almost zen-like start to the day that we won’t forget. The details throughout the home really stood out. The towels and water pressure felt like something you’d expect from a high-end spa, adding a touch of luxury to the entire experience. The dining and living areas were so comfortable that we often found ourselves wishing we had booked a longer stay. The property itself is just as impressive. Having access to such a large acreage gave us a sense of adventure right outside the front door. One of the highlights was meeting the “neighbors”—a pair of friendly oxen who came trotting over to greet us during a walk, which made the experience even more unique and memorable. This place offers a rare combination of comfort, peace, and a connection to nature. We’re incredibly grateful for our time here and would absolutely love to return.

Wonderful hosts greeted us as we arrived. The guest house was warm and welcoming.

The property had main residence home plus the guest house above the carriage house . It couldn’t have been a more perfect place to stay for our all too short visit in Vermont. Hannah was a wonderful hostess and provided us with all the fixing for breakfast. There are oxen on the property which we made time to visit which added to a wonderful stay. Mountain View’s in the daytime and brilliant star gazing at night made it perfect place for us to stay.

A delightful family, very interesting to talk with! They took great care of the place while they were here, and had a nice visit with some of our family and the oxen down at the barn!

Beautiful guesthouse which felt more like an apartment with the perfect amount of space. Loved the breakfast goodies left by Hannah and Ray and truly enjoyed the deck with amazing views! If you're looking for something quiet and private, this is the retreat for you!

Beautiful and peaceful

Hannah and Ray are great! Friendly and helpful but not intrusive. Sweet Retreat is just beautiful. So quiet and peaceful yet conveniently located in central Vermont. Morning coffee on the front porch was delightful! We are looking forward to returning here again!
