This home with “history” overlooks the gulf and is a little bit of paradise. Built in 1947 by George Burris, this home was originally a hunting and fishing lodge and a center of entertainment for his family. After extensive remodeling in 2000, this resort home is now a grand resort home for our family and yours. Built on a large sand dune, just one block off the beach, this home features commanding views of the beach and the Texas Gulf.
Sleeping 16 comfortably it is host to many families, fishing and hunting parties, and corporate retreats year-round.
The amenities and simple elegance of Summer Place are unequaled. Located on 1.86 acres, the 5,500-square-foot home is a resort in itself. This stunning home features six bedrooms including two master suites. The views from the poolside deck and upper deck are stellar. The built-in pool provides hours of enjoyment when you're ready for a break from the sand. The gourmet kitchen has all the tools to fix that exquisite meal to be served in a dining room that can seat 24. Include a ping pong table, wet bar, card table, TVs, couches to lounge on and a few bar stools and Summer Place becomes a home away from home.

Port Aransas, Texas is the perfect getaway and vacation destination. Located along the Gulf of Mexico, this area offers a variety of activities such as world-class fishing, boat excursions, horseback riding on the beach, and more.

Things to Know:
Must be 25 years old to book one of our units. Strictly enforced, ID verified upon check-in.
Pets not allowed.
Parking for 7 vehicles, a golf cart rental will use a space.
Please bring coffee and filters.
Laundry detergent not provided.
Pools are serviced weekly, upwards of twice per week during the summertime. Services may be performed while occupied.

There is so much upkeep that should have been done through the years. The location is great but beware the wood floors that will pinch your feet, the upstairs door to outside you can see daylight through, was wondering why we were getting bugs in. The furniture is very old and smelly. The oven is a little off on temperature so check your food. Finally got the pool clean so on day 3 of our stay we could use it. I'm sure it was a lovely house at one time, but it has been let go.

Reviewer Comments: We love it here, however after staying here for almost five years now and seeing them not make the necessary updates needed to justify what they charge we will have to start looking at other options next year. Two years in a row we’ve had electrical fires, leaking windows when it rains, gaps in doors that are 1-2” big, doors that don’t open, etc... It’s everything we look for when coming to Port A in regards to size and outdoor area so hopefully they get to the updates they need.

Amazing Property

This vacation rental was amazing in every way. The pool was huge and the tiki hut was great for shade. The house has all modern conveniences like huge commercial grade kitchen appliances and TVs in every room, but retains a ton of antique beach house vibes. The home was clean and exceded every expectation for all 15 of us that stayed there. One block from the beach. We would definitely book again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Summer Place is a great large house for big groups or multi-families. In an attempt to have a safe vacation in the age of Covid, it was important to us to have a large pool and outdoor area in case we weren’t able to leave often. We thoroughly enjoyed the huge pool and awesome palapa. The house is fantastically positioned close to town and the beach, so only a short golf cart ride away. The kitchen was also great for large groups with commercial sized oven/stove and double fridge. A few things to keep him mind: few of the TVs work, but we didn’t care (wouldn’t work for football season), take your own beach towels and possibly shower towels as they only provide 1 white hotel towel per guest, the dryers don’t really dry, so be mindful before you do a large load of laundry, some of the doors stick and have old fixtures that aren’t holding up in the salt air (we were not able to access the top deck from inside. Overall, a great vacation in a quirky old house that suited 12 of us perfectly.

Not a failure...not a home run

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location was great...and being on the hill was really nice to add to privacy and the view. The placed was very roomy and easy to navigate. The only 2 main issues I have is NONE of the TVs worked. 29 remotes and no tv labeled for which remote belonged to which frustrating when just wanting a large group to settle down from playing in the wonderful pool all day after a wedding. Then my pet peeve...Broken tiles, wood flooring missing and worst 2 stairs that had wood flooring on them that had broken tongue and if you walked down/up barefoot it made you nearly fall when the piece gave way and the nosing had a sharp edge to poke the bottom of your foot. So on a side note..if the owner or management team sees this review...I will fix all these issues in trade for a weekend stay again? I have done flooring for 35 years now... i can make this place look more like it should for the cost it takes to stay in it! But to anyone that made it this far in the review...yes lease this place...because other than those 2 little is a wonderful place.

WE HAD TO CALL AN EXTERMINATOR CAUSE WE WERE OVERWHELMED WITH WASPS DODGING AND DUCKING THEM WHILE TRYING TO RELAX BY THE POOL(THE INVOICE FROM THE EXTERMINATOR SAID HE KNOCKED OUT 20 HIVES) KILLED ABOUT 10 COCKROACHES AND MY HUSBAND GOT BIT BY A SPIDER IN HIS SLEEP. THE HOUSE WAS NOT CLEANED AND THE OUTSIDE CABANA WAS A MESS. WE HAD TO CLEAN... US! WE WERE PAYING GUESTS AND SHOULDNT HAVE HAD TO CLEAN OR CALL THE EXTERMINATOR. THIS WAS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING!

The doors to the pool from the living room would not open. There was dead tree roaches all over the floors. For a group of 12 staying the 3 night minimum they left two towels per bathroom. The speakers no longer work outside. I feel for what is charged per night that it would have been what we had gotten in the past and it clearly isn't. Hopefully they are still tying up loose ends from Harvey but with that said the price should reflect it. There were several other minor details that disappointed but will contact management directly.

We were not on top of one another and had so much space in the kitchen area!!! The house looked great considering the hurricane and we noticed a few set backs but the house was still in good shape. We booked the house again because we enjoyed it so much.
