We are delighted to offer you the 4½-room house “Il Lavatoio,” an exceptionally charming property. In 2019, a former washhouse was converted into an architectural gem according to the latest ecological standards and tastefully refurnished with great attention to detail. The entire structure is made of wood, and birch wood has been used in nearly all interior rooms to create an optimal indoor climate. Natural insulation materials and ventilated walls meet the latest standards. Even the water for the sauna’s refreshment pool comes from the property’s own spring!
The house is situated in a quiet and sunny location on the edge of an idyllic park landscape spanning approximately 5,000 m². The living area of approximately 150 m² offers plenty of modern comforts, including a living room, a dining room, a separate kitchen, two bedrooms (each with air conditioning and an en suite bathroom), and a separate guest bathroom. The various outdoor areas offer a wide range of opportunities for everyone to leave their daily routine behind and enjoy their holiday. Behind the house lies the enclosed property, approximately 2,900 m² in size (partly left in its natural state), featuring a stone table and benches as well as a barbecue. From here, a stone staircase leads down to your enclosed private garden, approximately 170 m² in size. Here you’ll find the 7.5 m x 2.5 m pool (open from mid-May to the end of September, weather permitting) with a sun deck and outdoor shower, as well as the directly adjoining portico with its cosy wooden sauna and the old stone washbasin (il lavatoio!), which has been converted into a plunge pool and is the source of the villa’s name. Four balconies offering beautiful views of part of the park and an impressive, over 100-year-old Lebanese cedar round out the amenities. The rest of the idyllic park, with its approximately 10-meter-tall, centuries-old rhododendrons, azaleas, camellias, and various fruit trees, is unique and unrivalled on Lake Maggiore. Especially in the spring, the blossoming trees offer an unforgettable spectacle that you shouldn’t miss for anything in the world! Your host will be happy to give you the opportunity to explore the grounds with him upon request. If you’d like to share your experiences with the rest of the world afterwards, you can do so easily thanks to the free Wi-Fi.
Within a five-minute walk, you’ll find a well-maintained mini-golf course with a restaurant, a pond where you can fish, and the small church of San Martino with its picturesque old cemetery. Both the public tennis courts, located about 200 metres away, and the golf course in Premeno—situated about 8 km higher up—offer you a variety of opportunities for physical activity. For hiking enthusiasts, an extensive network of well-maintained trails begins right at the villa, allowing you to explore the beautiful surrounding area on foot. The town of Intra, with its restaurants and shops, its public beach, and the beautiful lakeside promenade, is just under 10 minutes away by car.
