Bright bathroom with tiled shower and floor, a covered porch with Amish gliders, and parking just below your cabin. Explore roughly 100 acres of hiking trails, creeks, mountaintop orchards, and next-door access to the Mon National Forest. Please Note: All-wheel drive recommended in snow. Also, there’s a short gravel walkway from the parking area up to the cabin.

The cabin is way back off the road in a wildlife management area. The area is beautiful and isolated yet a short drive to town. It's a small yet cozy little pet friendly cabin. We'd definitely stay again.

We (and our dog) loved the hiking trails! There were so many beautiful areas of the property to explore. The cabin was a perfect cozy size with everything you need and nothing more.

Home base for a trout trip

Property was great for what we needed. Kitchen and utensils were nice for cooking breakfast, before heading to the Tygart, Shavers Fork, and Elk rivers. Close enough to get to Elkins for supper if you want.lothistory

Beautiful secluded getaway

This is the place to go if you are looking for a quiet private escape from it all. Trails around the property were nice adventure. The tiny cabin was one of the cleaniest we have ever stayed in. It was equipped with all the essentials. Host got back to us quickly to handle our checkin hiccup.

Incredible little retreat!

This little cabin is so perfect, it’s in a nice secluded part of the state. We were the only ones staying at the trails this weekend so we had all the hiking trails completely to ourselves! The cabin is the perfect size for two people and a dog and we loved all the creature comforts included. This spot is close enough to lots of cool hiking and fishing spots, only an hour from the beautiful Seneca rocks and black water falls!

Wonderful!!

Had a great stay at the cabin! My wife and I and our dog. Away from it all, but a short drive back to civilization. The cabin had everything we needed, and nothing we didn't. Exactly what we were looking for. 5 stars only because i can't go higher.

Peace and Tranquility

A gem of a cabin on serene beautiful surroundings. A small cabin with a picture window next to the main bed that provides an unobstructed view of the forest. Very clean with everything you need. Internet connection was great. I went on a snowy day it will be great if there was a trail map but I was able to figure it out. My dog loved the place. I strongly recommend this place and will definitily come back.

Everything we were looking for!

We weren’t sure what to expect of the tiny cabin in the woods but what a fantastic time we had! The directions to the place are spot on. The cabin itself is off the beaten path, very warm, cozy and inviting. It has everything you need for your stay. The Wi-Fi is fantastic and we were able to be in touch with the outside world on our own terms. The travel to and from the adjacent town is beautiful - lots of deer! When we arrived we had good weather and took advantage of it. We checked out the surrounding area including dinner at The Forks (show up hungry as this is an excellent restaurant), a day trip to Thomas and Davis including lunch at Hellbender’s Burritos and a hike in the Blackwater Falls State Park to see the waterfall. We had the good luck of a huge snowstorm later that night, and enjoyed watching it from the giant picture window. The next morning Max, our host, came by to check on us and to make sure we had a snow shovel in case we needed it to get out. In the morning we hiked the Steepside Trail (adjacent to our cabin) to the top, then made our way into town to Mi Fiesta for fajitas and margaritas. We took a different route home to pass through Seneca Rock. It was a very zen weekend!

What a treat and just what we needed. We have highly demanding jobs and needed a place to unplug & get away. This property allowed us to recharge. We planned ahead & took enough food so that we did not have to leave for 5 days & what a treat it was! The location is very remote and private with very little outside noise. It was great just to wake up to bird song and nature. We enjoyed sitting around the campfire with good books & no TV. The cabin itself is furnished with everything you may need. Immaculate & very comfortable. There are several additional touches throughout which show the thought put into making it a comfortable stay. They have thought of everything. The trails are maintained & offer viewing vistas, places to reflect & explore. Sidewinder and Steepside are NO JOKE. My husband hiked the trails 2x daily doing the full loop. He never saw anyone else on the trails but did encounter wildlife. Numerous rabbits, birds, deer & bear were sighted. While doing the trail just as you come down Steepside there is an apple tree. As he was jogging down, he startled a black bear who was up in the tree gorging on apples. The bear fell out of the tree and of course ran down the trail that my husband was continuing down on. Don't know who scared who more but it made for a great memory! Also saw a bear just strolling along across the creek from the cabin.My husband wasn't bothered by bugs but if your mosquito sexy (like me) bring some bug spray. Five stars

The cabin itself is lovely, but what really makes this place special is the property. I booked 5 nights here last minute without doing any research. As I walked the trails I was delighted by the details I discovered along the way. Max is an artist and it shows in the property. The Cabins at Files Creek provides a magical little forest adventure. There are benches and picnic tables strategically placed at beautiful vistas.I went in June and saw tons of wild animals, fungi, and luscious greenery. On my last night, fireflies danced outside the big window as I fell asleep. I brought enough food for my entire stay, a couple books, some art supplies, and my dog, Jackson. I parked my car at check-in and didn’t leave the grounds until check-out. I prepared all my meals and found the kitchen sufficient (all cookware is coated in teflon). Jackson had the time of his life and was off-leash for our walks. The main hike loop is about 2mi. When it rained, I enjoyed the glider on the front porch and Jackson enjoyed sleeping on the bed.The only thing that I didn’t love was that the windows on the front side did not have curtains. This was initially unsettling for me as a woman traveling with only a dog for protection, but no one ever walked up the trail to my front door and the property generally felt very safe. I’d recommend this location to anyone looking to slow down and reconnect with nature without surrendering their creature comforts.
