About this property
Get back to nature! Unique cabin in the mountains 15 minutes from Asheville N.C.
Wild Ridge Trail is a unique cabin perfectly tucked away in the woods just outside of Asheville N.C. and is also only a short distance to the charming town of Black Mountain! One of our guests described our place as "soul-soothing" and "undefinable" and we couldn't agree more! The cabin is simple yet modern with a touch of elegance. Please take note that our cabin is off grid and designed for the adventurous at heart! (off grid meaning there is no power or running water) yet, you won't even miss it with our set up of an off grid rain encatchment to collect water for the heated outdoor shower (seasonal) and a pretty awesome flashlight to help keep the space lit up at night! So, if you're looking to disconnect and just take it easy, then come stay for awhile!
Wild Ridge Trail was designed for the adventurous at heart! You can drive on up if you have 4WD or AWD, and if you don't, no worries! Just park in the designated space, grab your gear, and hike on up! (The hike in is steep.. about 300 ft but takes less than 5 minutes) We have a cooler up there for any perishables you may have, just bring ice! If you are bringing a pet, please add on the pet in the drop-down menu when booking. We do charge a $25 pet clean-up fee at the time of booking.
NOTE: DUE TO THE STEEP DRIVE, ONLY 4×4 OR AWD NO EXCEPTIONS All others will have to park at the bottom of the gravel drive and hike up.
Please note: There IS cell reception at the cabin :)
Our heated outdoor shower is closed in the cold winter months. Usually that is from late November- late March. We provide a solar camping shower bag to use for those months. There is also a Ymca 15 minutes from the cabin that offers a daypass for $15 a person and that includes their shower facilities. (We keep our winter prices lower to help cover these costs)
There is a Jackary solar power bank to help charge your phones etc..
To heat the space in the colder months, there is a unvented wall mounted propane heater that works great to heat the space BUT you MUST crack a window when running the heater or the carbon monoxide alarm will sound. We also have a small heater in the outhouse- do not leave unattended.
There is no AC in the summer but there is a battery powered fan and lots of windows for breeze.

Overall great stay for our anniversary!! Very quiet and secluded spot but close to town. We even had a mama bear and baby cub climbing the tree outside the deck area, so that was an awesome experience
Peaceful place to stay, equipped with everything you need for a secluded weekend. The hill is no joke, so if you can't drive up be prepared to carry your belongings! Pack light!Thank you!!
Beautiful home, very pleasant! Felt more comfortable than we expected given the off grid aspect. Do note that if you don't have AWD, the hike up the hill to the house is quite steep and intense! However, was well worth it. Host was also very helpful and responsive! Would stay again.
My partner and I really enjoyed our stay here! It's a beautiful, comfortable getaway in the woods. Gorgeous view and comfy bed. We both commented that it would make a great writers retreat cabin.
This cabin is incredible! Being able to open it up and be immersed in nature while laying in bed was awesome. This was my first off-grid cabin experience and this cabin made it great and easy. The host was very communicative when I had questions which was very helpful. I highly, highly recommend!
This was our second stay here. We absolutely love this hidden treasure. It is so peaceful and the views were great through the garage door. Especially the early evening winter moonlight. The heater was our best friend as a cold front came through. It worked great to keep us warm. The cabin had everything we needed for a comfortable experience in nature! We will be back!
This cabin is absolutely stunning - it is modern and has gorgeous mountain-top views! Everything was cleaned to perfection and the cabin is fully stocked with everything needed for a great weekend away. We loved being close to Asheville (about 10 minutes by car) and still able to enjoy some solitude.
Super peaceful and clean place tucked away from it all! The outdoor shower is awesome and all basic needs are met and then some. Will be back next tome we're over this way for sure.
This was a great property! You really don't realize you don't have power. They do a great job with providing everything you need. The driveway to get to the property is intense but a lot of fun. Very dog friendly which is always a plus. Hope to visit again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the off grid cabin in the woods. It got pretty hot with just the one fan to cool us off, but otherwise a pleasant experience. The drive up the mountain was INTENSE but loved the privacy once up there. Thanks again for letting us enjoy your slice of paradise in the blue ridge mountains!
We took our dog on a weekend trip to Asheville and our stay was amazing! Very pet friendly and user friendly. The gas, electric and bathroom were all easy to figure out. The place was secluded and relaxing, but still close to downtown Asheville. The cabin had everything we needed and the host was easy to get in contact with. The drive up is a little steep, but we didn’t have any issues. All around we had a great stay!
This little cabin was PERFECT for our second wedding anniversary! The swing was my favorite part and my husband loved the outdoor shower. We grilled out almost every night and enjoyed some quiet reading time around the camp fire. Also… THE TOILET! How cool!
We highly recommend this spot and we will be back again! Next time with our pups. We didn’t realize how dog friendly it was going to be :)
This was our first trip to this part of western North Carolina and we had a wonderful time! The cabin was very clean and had everything we needed. The roll up garage door was a real treat as we could open up the cabin to the beautiful woods right outside and bring in the cool fresh air. We really enjoyed the outdoor shower and the location is a short drive to either Ashville or Black Mountain. We would also highly recommend the Trailhead Restaurant in Black Mountain. Looking forward to coming back next spring!
We spent LDW here, escaping up to the mountains from Charleston. It was so close to everything we wanted to do while exploring Asheville for our first time! The cabin itself was so clean, so CUTE, and had everything you needed. The road to get up the cabin is (very) steep but it’s totally worth it. My fiancé loved the views, I loved the outdoor shower (was not expecting that to be my favorite part but WOW), and our dog loved the gated deck. I would recommend this spot to any of our friends and family! We will be back 😊
We wanted something remote, private, and quiet. Ambiance is everything. And this was IT. We loved falling asleep to the sounds of the crickets at night (with the glass garage door open) and enjoying our coffee on the porch in the mornings. It's only about 15 minutes from downtown Asheville, where we spent our evenings. And 15 to 30 minutes from prime kayak launches, where we spent our days. We will definitely be back sooner than later.

About the host

I have been cleaning vacation rentals for over 15 years and always dreamed of creating a space of our own to share with others. It took my husband and I a long time to make that dream a reality, but it makes us appreciate it that much more! We are raising 2 kids who are 8 and 12. In our rare free time, we love to hike with our Dobermans Otto and Liberty!
Why they chose this property
We created this space to share with folks who are up for an adventure! It is simple yet elegant, rustic yet Serene.
What makes this property unique
Once you enter our cabin at Wild Ridge, we hope you feel right at home! Roll open the full view garage door and let the outside in! We hope our guests come here to escape the craziness of everyday life and can just soak in the fresh air of our N.C. mountains!
