We are glad that you and your guests had an amazing time, and we would love to host another memorable stay for you soon!
Great location and gorgeous views. The cabin had everything we needed. wish the hottub was upstairs but it was fine and worked well. Please provide wood for fireplaces since they are wood burning, though we had no trouble getting wood down the road.
We enjoyed our stay at Bear Necessities, especially the ultra comfy king bed and the sunset views on the rocking chairs on the deck. The living room furniture was relaxing and screened in porch perfect on a cool rainy night. We have traversed many mountains and this was bar far one of the easiest drives up to the rental. One thing to note, the main level with kitchen and living and dining is only accessible by climbing a flight of stairs. Was not an issue for either of us, but could be for others. We would definitely recommend this place!

Thank you so much for your feedback and 5-star rating of your recent stay at Bear Necessities, Amy! We're happy to hear that the cabin met your expectations, and we're thankful for your kind words. We would love to host you again on your next getaway to the Appalachian Mountains!
The property is in a desirable location. It has beautiful views, however there are many maintenance issues that need to be corrected. Upon arriving the lower level outdoor lights did not work at all, the Street lamp also did not work, the cold water in the half bath on the main floor did not work, there was so much dust on the fans I don't think they have ever been dusted, there is a smell of mold and mildew in the lower level, there are also several dust webs hanging throughout the home, the electrical fails at all times you have to constantly flip the circuit breakers in order to make sure that wherever you are the lights or TVs are working, the driveway is extremely steep and is very difficult to turn in from the main road unless coming from one side. Overall it is a good property however there is a unique smell, and needs a good overall cleaning.

Great view…but
This rental was disappointing. Owner needs to take care of maintenance and safety issues.
The stairs to the main level are a safety issue. Railing on main level is “shaky”, screen door on main level has missing lower screen. Outside lighting in parking area on lower level needs bulb replacement. The “bear” rug in lower bathroom was so dirty that I washed it and the floor was dirty all over house. Leaking outside faucet by hot tub causing electrical outlet issue and breaker to flip on lower level (leaking was addressed) by workers sent out, however they were not electricians - leaving us some outlets not working.
The driveway parking area has a dangerous “washed out” area near the edge and had it been dark, I could have stepped into this hole, causing injury.
The owner needs to address these issues, replace mattress in full bedroom (lower level),
and give this rental the tender loving care it deserves - making Bear Necessities a good, safe, and enjoyable rental!

Somewhat disappointing
The photographs displayed on VRBO represented the property well. The location was within minutes of Blue Ridge and offered all conveniences. Although it was just the two of us, my husband and I wanted plenty of space to stretch out & provide the amenities that would allow us to stay put and relax for several days. The reason I titled this review as "somewhat disappointing" is that the clothes dryer did not work and was not repaired or replaced in the five days of our visit. We were contacted on Monday, the day we were to arrived, that the dryer was in need of repair. Wednesday when I called to check on the progress of repair, I was told it needed a part. Thursday a repair man came unannounced, and stated the dryer was not connected correctly and he was surprised there had not been a fire because it was a gas dryer converted to propane use. Later I received communication that a dryer would be delivered on Friday from 1-3. No one came. We checked out on Saturday. I received an email soon after requesting us to complete a satisfaction survey. I completed the form, no response.
The cabin itself was lovely & offered gorgeous views of the mountains. But the lack of service we received was far below the standard we expect from VRBO rentals. I delayed on writing this review as I wanted to give the property manager time to respond. However, it has been nearly four weeks since our departure and still no response. Beware of amenities advertised, but not available.
Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Your feedback is incredibly important to us and we'd love to talk more about your experience to better serve you and future guests. Please let us know if there's anything we can do.
