About this property

Retreat to glorious Cheyenne Canyon

This adorable 900 square foot Cottage is located in scenic and serene Cheyenne Canyon, just a 10 minute walk from the renowned Broadmoor resort. A fenced backyard is great for small to mid-size dogs and especially private for patio dining. Wraparound windows in the master bedroom feel like sleeping in a treehouse and the nearby creek and chimes from Will Rogers shrine will lull you to sleep each night. Three hiking areas are walkable from the house, and downtown is a short bus ride away. A gift certificate to nearby Sacred Grounds Cafe is included!

A few notes about my quaint and cozy cottage. (It's a bit quirky because it was built in 1909.)
The driveway is handy, but small. 1 large car or 2 compact cars max.
Dogs are welcome—first dog is included in base rate; $25 additional per dog. Please take advantage of the towels at the back door if they are coming in wet or dirty. Dogs may not be left in the house alone. Clean up after the dog, inside and outside. Fine may apply for pet damage or messes.
Coffee, (regular and decaf), cocoa, and tea are in the cupboard above the coffee pot.
You’ll find a gift certificate to the coffee shop/cafe up the street on the kitchen bulletin board.
Should you want to (take a bubble bath and) enjoy TV in the evening, you can access all streaming apps with your credentials, or watch loads of free Comcast and Peacock streaming. Just use the small remote to control the TV.
There are 11 steps (narrow and turning) to the upstairs. No large luggage advised upstairs. Beware the top step landing—it is quirky. HOLD THE HANDLES when you are going down the stairs, and if you're sleeping in the "office" be especially careful as the landing is smaller than you would expect coming out of the door. PROCEED WITH CAUTION. Guests who are slight of foot should sleep downstairs on the comfiest sofa bed in the city. Sofa bedding is in the living room coat closet. For the best sofa bed experience, lay the 3” memory foam mattress topper on the mattress, followed by sheets, blankets, and pillows. Futon bed is also fitted with a 3" memory foam topper. Sleep tight!
This home does not have an air conditioner. There are fans in the master bedroom closet (and a space heater).
If you are staying over a Tuesday night, please take the trash cans to the curb. Green is recycle (single stream); brown is trash. Trash/recycle is collected throughout the day on Wednesday, beginning as early as 7:30am. The bungee cords must be used, due to snacky raccoons and bears.
The garbage disposal is operated by the on/off switch on the power strip under the sink.
The fireplace is cozy; the flue opens by pulling out toward you. OPEN THE FLUE before lighting a fire and close the flue after the fire is completely out. This keeps the heat from escaping through the chimney and the smoke from pushing out into the house. A duraflame log is provided, and additional wood may be purchased at the nearby Safeway. The chiminea outside also takes a chill off cool evenings. Matches are on the mantle.

Another amazing stay
This is the most incredible place to stay. It’s close to everything and such a cute property. We really had the best time. I would highly recommend staying here. If we could stay here every time we come to Colorado Springs we would.

Close and steep
I stayed here for a conference at the Broadmoor to save a few bucks. It is close enough to walk, but there is a pretty steep hill. If you like the exercise, this can work well for you too.

About the host

Host profile image
Welcome to my quaint and cozy cottage. It's a bit quirky because it was built in 1909. When not helping out with my partner's kids (who are homeschooling during COVID) I live in the home. I couldn't bear it sitting empty, so I want to share it with you. The main attraction in Cheyenne Canyon is the incredible scenery and tranquility. With so many walks, hikes, and bike rides nearby, guests are easily entertained, and often by wildlife.

Why they chose this property

The Cottage is short walk from the 5 Star Broadmoor Resort, where a glass of wine or cocktail on the lake feels a world away. Fine dining or casual coffee is available at the resort’s many restaurants. Even closer is Sacred Grounds, the neighborhood café and coffee shop. The spacious patio is perfect for social distancing, and every stay at the Cottage includes a gift card to visit the café. Live music on the weekends is not to be missed!

What makes this property unique

The Cottage is close to all the things that bring visitors to the area. Enjoy easy access to Broadmoor Golf Course, Broadmoor Spa, Seven Falls, Stratton Open Space Preserve, North Cheyenne Canon Park, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Garden of the Gods Park and Visitors Center, Helen Hunt Falls, Manitou Springs, Old Colorado City, Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Downtown Colorado Springs, Pikes Peak, Santa’s workshop and the North Pole, Air Force Academy, Cave of the Winds and Glen Eyrie Castle. You’re a straight shot on bike or bus to great restaurants, but you’ll quickly forget that as you relax in the peaceful Cheyenne Canyon.
