The rental experience was seemless....communication was great, the property fit our family so easily and the location was easily accessible to many beautiful spots. The home is well equipped and it was a delightful stay!
We had a large family holiday gathering and needed extra space, this spot was perfect! Convenient to I-89, easy check in, wonderful communication and flexibility from the host, and a fabulous kitchen for extra holiday meal prep! We will definitely keep this location in mind for future stays!
This place has everything you need to travel with a large group. All the details from a baby gate to a hand mixer in the kitchen were thought of. We stayed in July and the window units worked great to keep us comfortable. I would definitely stay there again.
Lot's of room. Quiet. Close to things. Great living room. I wish that mine was so comfortable. When you drive up, it looks a little rough, but it is nice inside. Dining room table seats ten. Nice stove top. Dual ovens.
Emily and I have four children and we reside on the Eastern Shore of Maryland. We are fanatical about making sure our guests enjoy our little slice of Vermont in Randolph Center. We spent six months improving the property over the fall of 2022, and recently made it available to guests.
Why they chose this property
If houses could tell stories, oh the stories this one would tell! Originally built by the town postmaster in 1812, and later expanded to house his livery teams and their drivers, this house has been home to many families over the generations.
This house boasts so much original character, from charmingly crooked original wooden floors, to original beams in the kitchen and living room, to beautiful old windows. The rooms are large, well-sized for a big family or gathering of friends. The kitchen and living room each comfortably seat 10-12, with spaces designated for eating, enjoying a cup of coffee, curling up with a good book, or watching a movie.
The kitchen was updated and outfitted by a chef friend, and you should find everything you need to prepare a gourmet meal. The appliances are new, and the large sink fits everything from all the dishes to a small child needing a bath.
The bedrooms are designed for comfort and function, with two king beds, and a queen bed on the 2nd floor, and then the dormers on the 3rd floor (five single beds) designed with kids in mind. Most of the bedrooms have electric wall heaters installed for additional comfort on the coldest of Vermont nights.
Like all old houses this one can be a bit drafty in the winter. We have layers of heating available (from the baseboard heat, to the electric wall heaters, to our favorite - the pellet stove!) but we also suggest bringing slippers or thick socks to keep your feet warm.
The bathrooms are clean and functional, although a bit unsophisticated. They get the job done!
This house is happiest when it is full of people enjoying the funky charm that is has to offer. It isn't fragile or precious, it wants to be loved!
