About this property

This newly renovated private suite with a walk score of 94 is a great spot for couples, solo adventurers, & biz travelers. Centrally located, close to Balboa Park, Downtown & Harbor Front & the airport. Enjoy easy I-5 access & 5 min walk to Little Italy for great restaurants. This NO PET suite has Queen bed in the bdrm with a large closet & a pull-out queen sofa-bed for 2 in the Living Room that makes this apt very comfortable for short or long stays. Restaurants & grocery store 2 blocks away!
The space
The newly upgraded kitchen & bath include all new cabinets and quartz countertops. New appliances include dishwasher and microwave. There is a tub/shower bathroom with a large separate dressing/powder room. This suite comfortably sleeps 4. There is a Queen bed in the bedroom, as well as a comfortable queen sofa bed with easy an access storage component underneath This suite is also suitable for longer term guests. For the safety of our other residents, PETS or other animals are not permitted in this small, gated community.
Guest access
Guests access through the front security gate, into a raised courtyard area and the suite is on the right, up the first staircase. Guests will enter through their own private front door after opening the dead-bolt and door handle lock. You have exclusive access to the entire apartment.
Other things to note
PETS or other animals are not permitted. No smoking - means no smoking of ANY kind ANY where on the premises. This includes e-cigs, cigars, vaporizers, hookahs etc. You will forfeit the deposit and be asked to leave the premises. If you see anyone with a PET, smoking or are being affected by someone with an animal or smoking/vaping etc., please notify us as soon as possible.

Our 6 day stay was so-so. The reason for the title of my review is that, while it is in a great general location, close to downtown, Little Italy, the airport, I-5, it is TOO CLOSE to the freeway and, more importantly, the airport landing pattern. The noise was very high(deafening outside), thought the windows did help. I had no notion we were in the direct path of the planes. They flew right over the apt. at a low altitude. I-5 was also too close, so that, even if the planes weren't there. you'd have to keep the windows closed to keep the noise down. Planes landed late into the night, Not good. Let me positive about the location to places you'd want to go. Balboa park was very close and I walked to downtown, near the train station, easily. The interior of the place was fair, but there were a number of areas that needed attention. Further, while Cherie was responsive to my emails, no one ever checked in with us once we got there to see how we were doing. In the unit, there were very few instructions and the door codes were a bit annoying. I can't recommend this particular place for the reasons above, though the area was fine . if you could get away from the freeway, airport.

Great location - nice place

Great location. Easy walk to Little Italy. We enjoyed the restaurants and Farmers Market on Saturday. Easy access to highways. Main bed was super comfy and loved the towels. Sofa sleeper was not very comfortable. Communication with host was easy and quick responses. Would definitely stay here again!

Owner cancelled me AFTER checkin time :-/

At check in time I contacted the owner asking for the access code. She didn’t respond. I waited 20 minutes, asked again. No response. I texted again giving my telephone number telling her please call me ASAP. No response. Owner had a emergency, but I didn’t learn this until almost 2 hours after I was supposed to check in. And that was after customer service from Vrbo called her. Emergencies happen but I should’ve been notified. So my stay was canceled. My payment was refunded. Vrbo arranged for me to stay at an alternate hotel (funded by my hostess) for one night. It wasn’t nearly as nice. Then I had to find a place for the other 2 nights which was much more expensive. Other reviews are positive. Owners just have to communicate better.

Comfortable and convenient

The rental was clean and had everything we needed. We picked it for location to restaurants and things to do because we didn't have a car. Little Italy is walking distance and the highway is close by. We walked and use Lyft to get around and it was affordable due to things being so close. We would stay there again!

What makes this property unique

This secure little hide-away is walking distance to Balboa Park, Zoo, Waterfront Park, USS Midway & Little Italy (with all it's great restaurants & nightlife). A little further afield is the downtown Gas Lamp area & the Convention Center. We are very close for access the airport or the I-5; south to Coronado, Tajuana (Mexico), or north to Pacific Beach, Mission Bay, La Jolla, Torrey Pines etc..
