Enjoy close by wineries, National & State Parks & Battlefields, antique shops, or just relax and recharge from the front or back porch with a view and privacy. Or just hang out at the river with a picnic lunch, fishing rod, swim trunks, blanket, and drinks. Picnic tables & porta john are provided at rivers edge. Local wildlife is abundant. (Please bring your own linens, pillowcases, blankets, towels & wash cloths)

Remove personal items, remove leftover food and drinks and take out the rubbish
Turn off the lights, lock the doors and return the keys
Wash dishes and place dishes etc. in cupboards, cabinets, drawers. Sweep and vacuum, flush toilets, clean sinks, showers.
Disposal of your trash is your responsibility. Google the dump site 3 miles away @ 25360 Old Valley Pike, Maurertown, VA 22664. Open Daily 7AM to 7PM. Sunday 1PM to 5PM. Closed Thursdays and Holidays.
Lock all windows, pull down shades, deadbolt back door, leave rental key in the basket on breakfast bar, lock the front doorknob on your way out. Text Steve & Tina when you're leaving. TY!
Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.
No events allowed. Guests, please bring your own linens and pillowcases for 1 queen bed, 1 double bunk bed, 1 day bed. Towels and washcloths too.

Tranquility

Enjoyed being able to walk out the back door and follow the mountain ridge line behind the cottage, the blooming dogwoods was gorgeous. The cottage was very clean and the owners very gracious.

Quiet place near the river

The property was very clean and the owner is very responsive. It has a very nice river front area that you can access that is great for a picnic or just to relax. Would definitely stay here again.

A slice of paradise

Steve and Tina were great, the property was great, the experience was great! If you’re looking for a quiet place to relax and get away from life for a while, this is it. On the north fork of the Shenandoah river, the fishing was good and the scenery can’t be beat. There’s even a good place by the river to set up camp if you want a more outdoorsy experience.

Beautiful

We stayed at this cozy place while our son took part in the 160th Battle at Cedar Creek. It was about 12 miles from the battlefield and very close to all towns around. The house was extremely nice. And the view by the river was breathtaking. We only wish we could have stayed longer.

The place was clean, and Steve was a good host/responsive communicator. The river access was a very nice area to relax and/or hike. Our stay was in the midst of fall colors and the view was beautiful. I can imagine the joy here in summertime, enjoying a splash and paddle. The reasons for 3/5 ratings are: 1) The water at the cottage is very stinky. Steve told us about this at check in (you can smell the odor when you enter, but it's much, much worse when you actually turn on the water), and there is a drought in the area. I realize this is outside of the owner's control, nonetheless it made the stay much less comfortable. We didn't want to drink the water or shower in it. 2) The 'couch' is VERY uncomfortable; almost zero cushioning. An upgrade is necessary! 3) The kitchen has a coffee maker, filters, and a small amount of coffee, but ZERO sugar/sweeteners. Sugar is cheap; supply your guests with this to improve their stay!! Otherwise, the kitchen was well stocked. 4) I get that you want your guests to bring their own linens & towels, but the checkout list is a bit too much. Requiring your guests to clean sinks and toilets is just wrong in my opinion. If you're reading this, don't let this feedback stop you from staying here, simply be prepared for these detractors.
