About Michael Epperly
I grew up in the Detroit area but spent a good portion of my childhood summers in Northern Michigan. From that experience I always had a dream of someday owning a cottage in Northern Michigan.
Michael Epperly purchased this Cottage in 2013
Why Michael Epperly chose Harbor Springs
I was introduced to the Tunnel of Trees approximately ten years ago and was instantly taken by its uniqueness and natural beauty. This chalet-style home is surrounded by trees, yet has great views overlooking the Tunnel of Trees and Lake Michigan. Behind the property is over an acre of unblemished woods with a creek running through it. Property also has private beach access.
What makes this Cottage unique
The property is conveniently located for many day trips. Tour or bike the Tunnel of Trees or take a short drive to the Sturgeon Bay and Dunes. Petoskey, Harbor Springs, and Mackinaw City are approximately 30 minutes away.

Great Location in the Tunnel of Trees
Nice private home in the Tunnel of Trees. Lake Michigan is across the road with several beaches within walking distance. Homeowner is very informative with information about the home and local attractions. Clean home.
Less than a mile to Leggs Inn. Well stocked vacation rental.
Beautiful location in Cross Village. Easy private access to Lake Michigan. Very comfortable home. Extraordinarily clean and well-kept. Easily accommodates 6 with plenty of privacy. The lack of air conditioning is no problem — cool lake breezes keep everything comfortable even on the warmest days.
Family fun and relaxation
This was our second vacation spent at the lovely cottage in the Tunnel of Trees. We all felt right at home on arrival. Days were spent hiking, at the gorgeous beaches, visiting nearby towns and local wineries. Dinners were either grilling at the cottage or eating out at terrific local eateries. Evenings were spent on the main deck overlooking beautiful Lake Michigan, just talking and laughing with family. We’ll definitely return next summer!
Had a wonderful time! We had almost perfect weather. The home is beautiful with wonderful views. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen has plenty of dishes and pans. Having a washer and dryer onsite is so helpful. Due to high lake levels the beach is smaller this year, but the sand and water are very clean, perfect for the grandkids to play and adults to kayak. We saw deer and bald eagles! Great central location for day trips to UP, Mackinaw, Petoskey area, and golf courses. The owner is very conscientious, but with all the great info he provides ahead we didn't have any questions after arrival. A great vacation; we didn't want to leave!!!
Great quiet location.
We can’t recommend this property more. It was perfect for our family vacation. It’s a great home in a beautiful location. Plenty to do nearby and a great place to relax if you’d rather do that.
Cross Village is a natural destination point for travelers in Emmet County, as it stands at the northern end of M-119, a state designated Scenic Heritage Route, that extends north from Harbor Springs following the Lake Michigan shoreline. This road is renowned for its natural scenery, particularly the bordering hardwood forests. En route to Cross Village, the traveler passes meadows, occasional panoramic views over Lake Michigan, historic cottages, tree stands that bridge the road in canopy fashion, through Good Hart, and antique shops. The road winds and twists to encourage slow speed and enhance the enjoyment of the scenic tour. While Cross Village is a the terminus of M-119, it is not the end of the road, as Shore Drive continues northeast out of the Township into Bliss Township.
