We were in town for a girls’ trip in early July. I’m very familiar with this area and was looking forward to staying in Manitou. The host meets you upon arrival as there is no other way to get into the house. We texted alerting the host we’d be there at a certain time, but ended up waiting almost 45 minutes for her to arrive. We had to walk down to the main area and use public restrooms as no shop allows anyone to use their bathrooms unless you are a customer. That was OK, but once we got inside we realized how hot it was. There is no air conditioning in the house, with the exception of a portable window unit which is upstairs in only one of the three bedrooms. There are two fans in the house. It was HOT. By the second night we decided to move to a hotel for that night because it had been over 90 degrees and there was no way the house would cool down. You also cannot leave the windows open at night because there are bears. We had a bear come through the first night we were there and knocked the trash can over and ripped through the trash. It was a mess, but the host came to clean it up. We planned to stay a total of 5 nights and could only sleep there 3 due to the temperatures. When we were there, we all had to sleep on the main floor, meaning someone had to sleep on the couch. The house is cute , but we wouldn’t recommended it during the summer.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at this VRBO in Manitou Springs with some friends visiting from out of town, and it was an absolutely delightful experience. The property is beautifully maintained, offering a perfect blend of comfort and style that made our stay truly memorable.Sharon and Tom are exceptional hosts, always available to answer questions and provide recommendations. Their attention to detail is evident throughout the property, from the well-equipped kitchen to the cozy bedrooms. The location is ideal, providing easy access to the charming town of Manitou Springs and its surrounding attractions. If you're planning a visit to Manitou Springs, I highly recommend staying at this VRBO. It's the perfect home away from home!
This 1889 updated Victorian in a surprisingly quiet, quirky neighborhood is less than 5 minutes by foot from restaurants and shopping, less than 10 by car to Cave of the Winds and Manitou Cave Dwellings, and convent to Garden of the Gods, Pike's Peak and Colorado Springs. Beautiful mountain views from windows and porch swings. Perfect for friend groups and families w/ out toddlers. Relaxing setting after a day of hiking or shopping. 5 stars
The house is beautiful. It felt like home immediately. Everything was clean and updated. The front door is maybe 200 yards to the main street. Local shops and restaurants were delightful. My favorite was Red Dog coffee and cafe. The locals were super friendly and the location to other areas around Colorado were easy to get to, about 45-60 minutes to everywhere we wanted to go like Red Rocks and the Gorge train ride. My only minor complaint was the lack of A/C. I think this is almost never needed in Manitou Springs because of the mild temps and low humidity but we picked a hot week and it got up to 80 in the house with the windows open. A portable ac unit in the bedrooms would have been nice but we survived a couple hot evening and by morning the rooms felt great. This is a perfect house for multiple families. It had 5 bedrooms and 2 full baths. 2-3 families would have had plenty of room to not be on top of each other. Thanks for a lovely week we won't soon forget. FYI driving up Pikes Peak is scary as heck but worth it and driving down was a piece of cake.
