About this property
5 minutes to the Wichita Mountains, Ruffled Feathers Cabin, pet friendly Cache
After a fun filled day being in nature, wind down your day at The Lazy Buffalo. Nested at the foothills of the Wichita Mountains and just 3 miles from the entrance to the Wildlife Refuge, the Ruffled Feathers Cabin accommodates up to 2 guests and your fur baby.
Many say that The Lazy Buffalo resembles an Old West Town. Our Cabins are similar to a classic motel layout. There are charming touches throughout the property along with modern offerings such as Wi-fi, Netflix, and the convenience of self check in.
Bird Enthusiasts will especially enjoy our newest Cabin named after the abundant species of birds that can be spotted in the Wichita Mountains. The Ruffled Feathers Cabin features a spacious king size bed, kitchenette space, and full shower with separate vanity. The kitchenette area has a mini fridge and microwave along with table and chairs.
Knotty pine and corrugated tin are used throughout the space. The wood tiled floors paired with the tin ceilings throughout really add a rustic touch. With its gorgeous bird photographs and unique wood decor, the space exudes hunting cabins vibes.
During your stay, enjoy complimentary Netflix and Wi-Fi or unplug and take in the beauty of our area. Oklahoma Sunsets are truly beautiful. Sip on a cup of coffee to get your morning started right and end your adventurous day gathered around the picnic tables while enjoying smells from the charcoal grill. Yummy marshmallow goodness at the fire pit is a memorable way to cap off the evening or relax under the stars in the back of our vintage star gazing truck, located just a short walk from the cabin.
Both kids and adults will love tossing horseshoes and playing old fashion games. Toss Frisbees at the disc golf stations, drop giant checkers to make a Connect 4, create music at our interactive music wall, or team up for some volleyball action. We are always adding new outdoor activities. Don't forget to snap some memories at The Lazy Buffalo photo ops.
LOCATION:
Nestled at the foothills of the Wichita Mountains, The Lazy Buffalo offers 13 individually themed cabins and a bunkhouse. Each Cabin is uniquely decorated to capture the essence of the Wichita Mountains and the history of our hometown.
The Wildlife Refuge preserves 59,000 acres of mixed prairie grass, ancient mountains, lakes, and streams. Herds of bison, longhorn, and elk can be seen roaming free and there's endless recreations opportunities such as fishing, bird watching, mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, and kayaking. A paved bike lane joins the property and runs throughout the Wildlife Refuge.
The Lazy Buffalo is less than a mile from the original Quanah Parker’s Star House and minutes from Lawton Fort Sill and historic Medicine Park so there's plenty to see and do nearby.

About the host
Hosted by Julie Logue

We have lived in Southwest Oklahoma for over 60 years and love our hometown of Cache. The Wichita Mountains are right in our backyard and we get to enjoy their beauty everyday. In 2019, The Lazy Buffalo opened with 5 vacation rental Cabins. These Cabins were designed to capture the essence of the Wichita Mountains and the history of our hometown.
In 2021, the Venue with Bunkhouse opened and we carried over the same western vibe when designing the 2400 square foot space. Throughout 2022 and 2023, we opened 6 more Cabins and in late 2023 our first set of pet friendly Cabins opened. Conveniently connected by sidewalks, it's just a short stroll being the bunkhouse, our Cabins, and 24 hour guest laundry.
All together, we can accommodate up to 49 guests among the 13 Cabins and Bunkhouse.
We are blessed to be family owned and managed. Our favorite thing about hosting is seeing multi-generation Families gathered around sharing quality time together. Should you need anything, our home is only 2 blocks from the Cabins. We hope you make wonderful memories while staying at The Lazy Buffalo.
