Walk to Acadia! Maine Farmhouse 2025: 3 night min May-Labor Day

Smack dab between Northeast Harbor (5 min) and Bar Harbor (10 min) this fully renovated Maine home has all the comforts of a new home with all the charm of a historic maine farmhouse. Giant tub and rain shower downstairs, spa shower with dual water heads upstairs, fully stocked chef's kitchen, granite fireplace are among the features to make your stay comfortable.

The home is conveniently located on Sound drive on a 1.5 wooded acre lot with a beautiful flower garden, mature lilac bushes and crabapple trees. A short walk along Sound Drive to the entrance of the Giant Slide Trail brings you directly into Acadia National Park for hiking and a five minute ride in either direction brings you to Eagle Lake or Upper Hadlock for biking. Acadia at your fingertips (and hiking boots)!

After a day of hiking and popovers at the Jordan Pond House, put your lobsters on to boil while the family gathers around the square dining table (seats 8, dishes, silver and linens for 12-16) then its over to the fireplace for drinks, snacks and games or choose a movie from the huge dvd selection... A perfect end to a perfect day in Acadia...

Three second floor bedrooms with 1 King, 1 queen size bed and 1 full size bed and gorgeous linens sleep two each and share a full bathroom. The 3rd floor bedroom has its own half bath and has four twin beds. *Please note: in 1910, hallways were not a thing. The master bedroom is completely separate, but the 2 back bedrooms and the third floor bedrooms are connected by doorways and you have to walk though rooms to get the other rooms. An additional full bath with separate bathing area and claw foot tub with rain shower is located on the first floor.

A truly comfortable and serene home, well behaved pets will be considered.

*Other notes: a max of 2 parking spaces are provided
*I price the nightly stay below the average because I understand that you can hear road noise. The town repaved our little two lane road that was once a horse path and now it is too tempting to fly by on it. I have been lobbying to get the speed limit reduced but in the meantime, I have put in noise reducing curtains in the front rooms.

Wonderful home! Everything is comfortable and well-appointed. The kitchen is spacious and beautiful. Showers were updated and were the most unique ones that we have ever seen. The property is located conveniently to attractions in Acadia, including Cadillac Mountain. Our family had a short walk to Acadia from the property. The host was kind, warm, and friendly with excellent tips for an enjoyable experience.

Great place to stay. Centrally located for all things Acadia NP. It is a very old house that has been well cared for and updated, but it helps if you like old homes. Just some old home things like one of the main bathrooms on the main floor but all bedrooms are upstairs. There is another very nice bathroom on the 2nd floor and a toilet/sink bathroom on the 3rd floor. Temp management can be a bit to handle when its cooler (we had lows in the 40s) but the host was available to assist as she has taken several steps to manage the temps in the old home. Kitchen is spacious and well supplied - great to stay here if you plan on doing some cooking. Tracey is a lovely host that is happy to provide general info about the area and responds quickly to any concerns. In addition, the house is advertised as being great for dogs - which I’m sure that it is. However, we are not dog people and I was concerned there would be dog hairs/smells, etc, BUT there were NO concerns or evidence of previous dogs. Home was very clean and a pleasure to stay in for 3 nights in early June. We would stay here again, no doubt.

Thank you; it was a pleasure having you and your family. Yes, the farmhouse turns 116 this year...it is truly a mainstay on the island. I renovated it completely, but as you mentioned, had to work with the layout so while it has all the comforts, it is not always intuitive...bc in 1910, they didn't think about hallways and ensuite bathrooms! My housekeeper and I take great care of it and I am happy you did not notice any traces of pets. And Maine weather is definitely a little cooler than Alabama so I am glad we figured out the smart thermostat. I'd be happy to have you back at any time...three days is only Acadia 101...:)

Our daughter called this place "The House of Dreams". It was the perfect place to spend our evenings after long days exploring Acadia. The pictures do not do this house justice. It is indeed very spacious! The beds are cozy and the hot water seemed endless! The house is located very close to all the places we wanted to see.

I started my career as a chef on yachts and landed in Northeast Harbor time and time again. It was so beautiful I bought a home here.

What makes this property unique

For me, having access to Acadia for hiking and biking during the summer and fall and cross country skiing, hot baths and crackling fires in the winter is why I love my home. I love having my friends over for dinner and games but enjoy jumping into Bar Harbor for pizza and a movie at Reel Pizza equally as much. Taking a boat out the Isleford and visiting the art gallery or poking around the shops in Northeast Harbor...it is all a true delight!
