Our 'Sandcastle' Beach House is perfect for a family vacation by the sea! Its unique, soothing architecture brings the beach right into your living area. Our 2 story plus (3rd story Loft and Crow’s Nest) home offers 2,300 square feet of large, bright open spaces lending itself to gatherings of family and friends…plenty of space to spread out.



Our Beach House sleeps 12 in beds...10 adults plus kids under 9 (9 to 17 count as adults). Perfect for 2 families! We also provide a new porta crib and high chair for the babies!



Located in a quiet neighborhood only 1 block from one of Santa Cruz’s best sandy and sunny beaches with steps to the sand at the end of our street. A short walk to Sunny Cove and the other East Cliff beaches, surfing and many great restaurants. Short drive to Capitola Village, Santa Cruz Beach and Boardwalk, hiking and golf. Only 40 minutes from San Jose International Airport and 1 ½ hours south of San Francisco. Nearby, you will find Monterey, Cannery Row, the famous Monterey Bay Aquarium and beautiful Pebble Beach and Carmel…only a 30 to 45 minute drive south.



The views from the Sandcastle are outstanding…cook and dine while watching the lights on the Monterey Bay through the large solarium windows. Enjoy dinners with sweeping views from the second floor deck and sip a glass of wine from the top of the ‘Castle’ on the Crow’s Nest. Gather with the family in the downstairs family room with comfortable sofas, games, Foosball, ping pong and wet bar with a NEW under counter professional clear ice maker and refrigerator. Discover the hidden spaces to sit and read and relax throughout the house.



The house offers 3 spacious king bedrooms, a loft queen bed and a bunk room with two bunk beds. From the loft queen bedroom, you can lie in bed and enjoy whitewater views.

A great house!

This was our second time staying here and we love this house. It is incredibly well stocked. Our group of 11 stayed here for four nights and cooked all of our meals. There wasn’t anything that we wished we had, that wasn’t in the house. It’s so close to the beach, the location couldn’t be much better. It’s a great place for a couple of families to stay together.

Clean and close to beach

The house was great for our annual friend/family together. The beds were comfortable with nice crisp white sheets. Layout was great, I wouldn't put small kids in the loft but it was perfect for the teenage girl in our group. Kitchen was well stocked. It is a block and a half to the beach and the house had plenty of boogie boards and chairs. Would rent again if in the area.

Fantastic home. We brought extra toiletries and TP due to experiences that some in our party had endured when staying at other spots. Not needed here. This home was generously supplied with everything visitors might need, from the kitchen to the baths to the puzzle closet and more. Lovely views, everything as advertised. Highly recommend!

Great Spot in Santa Cruz

We booked this for Thanksgiving and then half of our family couldn't attend with us. This was still an amazing space for our family even by ourselves for the holiday. My 7 year old LOVED the loft room, and we appreciated all the beach toys to use. I just want to live in that living room the rest of my life.

Perfect spot, wonderful house

The stay was everything we needed and wanted for a handful of teens/kids and chaperones. Only issues were door code was based off of Vrbo account (old cell number) but the Welcome letter had my new number as the code, so a bit confusing. Also, there were some ants, the fridge filters needed to be replaced and the water filter on the sink didn't work so we just drank tap water and hoped for the best (we were totally fine). Teens stayed downstairs and had a great time with the bonus room, TV area and bunk beds. Younger kids and adults loved the loft and master bedroom. Thank you so much, we will absolutely stay again!

Thanks, Corey, for your review! Glad you and your group had a good time at the beach house! Sorry you had trouble getting in. The code was set from the phone number we had on your VRBO reservation and there must have been two numbers floating around! So glad we were able to get you in right away with the correct code. As for those tiny ants...We have been chasing those for some time as has most of the neighbors in Santa Cruz! We have had someone out monthly or even more often taking care of them when they reappear and each time we think we have them! Someone will be out on Saturday to follow up. While the water is perfectly fine to drink in Santa Cruz, however, we were forced to disconnected the water filter at the sink about 3 weeks before due to a fitting that burst. Parts have been ordered and when they come, we will replace. We did put some water bottles in the refrigerator for you. The refrigerator filters have been ordered and already replaced. Thanks!

Super Sandcastle

This was our family's second year at the Sandcastle. The property is a perfect spot for our growing family (three young grandchildren). The couples had their own rooms, the two older kids slept in the bunks, and the baby was in portacrib in the master bedroom. The well-equipped kitchen and living spaces made cooking together, socializing and keeping an eye on the children easy, and it was a luxury to have three bathrooms. The 6 and 3 year-olds loved the games and playing hide and seek and foosball. They are looking forward to being old enough to play ping pong and basketball. Best of all, the house is just one block from a great beach for little ones. They played in the sand, waded, flew kites and explored the tidepools.

Definitely a 5+ Star Rental

Definitely a 5+ star rental. We rented this home for a week long family reunion which included 9 adults and 2 children. We traveled from Sacramento, our adult children traveled here from Washington, Idaho and Texas. This home is exceptional in every way! These are just a few of the things that we loved the best: 1) Location – It is a very short walk to the stairs that leads directly to the beach. It is a great beach which is much larger than some other beaches in the area. 2) This home is fully stocked! Kitchen equipment, dishes, towels for home and the beach, beach chairs, boogie boards, washer and dryer, 2 full size refrigerators, one in the house and one in the garage, even an outside shower to clean of the beach sand before coming inside. 3) Lots of space or eating or just visiting. There are multiple eating areas – a large kitchen table, a table with umbrella out on the deck which is just off the inside dining area, bar stools at the kitchen counter and a large bar with stools down stairs off the second family room area. 4) 2 Family room areas, one upstairs, one downstairs. 5) Games & Entertainment – the ping pong table, basketball game and foosball table kept my adult kids very well entertained. There was lots of movies to watch too and two separate TV entertainment areas. 6) The view from the upstairs family room and the crow’s nest seating area. 7) The home was exceptionally clean! 8) The owner was so helpful. I emailed her several times with questions as I planned our trip. While we were there we enjoyed the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, zip line & redwood canopy tour at Mount Herman, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, 17-mile drive, Carmel and the beach. We had a great time. This was a wonderful place to stay and we hated to leave! We would definitely recommend this home to everyone!

Great Stay

In short, we love the beach! When our children were young, we would come and play at this beach. We were so excited to find this wonderful beach house and have created many great memories here.

Why they chose this property

We fell in love with the unique architecture, bright open spaces of the house and the huge solarium windows across the front. But the biggest reason we bought this house is the views! The Monterey Bay is right outside your window where you can watch the lights of Monterey twinkle at night, the fog roll in from the Pacific and the sailboats float by. When we first saw the house…it took our breath away!

Our beach house is in one of the sunniest, warmest spots in Santa Cruz. The beach is wide and easily accessible just one short block from the house. The location is perfect...nestled right between the Wharf, the Boardwalk and Capitola.

What makes this property unique

We love walking down to the beach to watch the surfers up and down the coast and the sunset over the Pacific Ocean in the late afternoon. At night, we either walk or drive to the great restaurants close by.
