About this property

Lost Creek Tent

★ A jungle-themed safari tent built for two, at the end of a private road.

Lost Creek is a canvas safari tent tucked into the most private setting on the property at Elk Hollow, at the end of a private road backed by nothing but trees and mountainside. A creek runs just out of sight below the deck, and you'll hear its soft babble through the day. It's the quiet that gives the place its name.

This is glamping, not camping. The walls are canvas, but the comforts aren't: a full kitchen with quartz counters, a spa-style bath, heat and AC, WiFi, and keyless entry. You'll fall asleep to the creek and the woods, which is the point.

The bath is the slow-down room. A private hot tub on the deck looks into the mountains, and inside there's a spa-style soaking tub with a large walk-in rain shower. Soak under the stars, soak out of the weather, soak twice in a day.

🛋️ INSIDE
➝ Open, airy layout with high pitched ceilings and a jungle-inspired feel: warm orange and earthy tones, soft rugs, rainforest touches
➝ Cozy living area, Smart TV, plus board games and books for a night in
➝ Full kitchen: gas range, full-size fridge, microwave, quartz counters, stocked with the essentials
➝ WiFi, a dedicated workspace, heat + AC year-round, in-unit washer + dryer

🛏️ WHERE YOU'LL SLEEP
➝ Amish hand-crafted aspen-log king bed, dressed in soft linens
➝ Spa-style indoor soaking tub
➝ Large walk-in shower with a rain head and a standard head, privacy curtain
★ Guests call it the most private of the tents, and cleaner and roomier than they expected

🌲 OUTSIDE
➝ Private wraparound deck wrapped in trees
➝ Hot tub with mountain views, open year-round
➝ Fire pit for s'mores under the stars
➝ Gas grill for sunrise coffee or dinner under the string lights
➝ The hidden creek babbling below, and wildlife passing through

♥ WHO IT'S FOR
Couples. Anniversaries, honeymoons, or a quiet escape off the grid, with WiFi and a desk if you need to dip into work. Secluded and romantic by design, so it's a getaway, not a party house.

🚗 GETTING HERE
It's at the end of a private gravel road, so we recommend taking it slow and arriving before dark on your first trip. From parking, it's about 13 steps up to the deck and a few more down to the fire pit. There's a lit path to the entrance. Five minutes from downtown Bryson City, with the Deep Creek entrance to the Smokies close by.

➳ GOOD TO KNOW
It's a canvas safari tent, so you'll hear the rain, the birds, the creek, and a bit more of the outdoors than a cabin. It's glamping with a full kitchen, spa bath, and heat and AC, not roughing it, but the canvas and the steps are real and worth picturing before you book.

This property is so neat! This tent is absolutely amazing, you will not be disappointed! I loved that we were in nature, yet so close to all of the area's restaurants and shops.

Marriage retreat

This was our second stay at Lost Creek in less than a year, and my wife and I loved it as much as the first visit. The private safari "tents" are our favorite stay for a romantic getaway. A three-night stay was great, and while we love the surrounding towns of Bryson City, Sylva, Wesser, and Waynesville, we didn't spend much time away from the luxurious deck, hot tub, and fire pit. Jeanetta is a great host.

Host profile image
Hi, I'm Jeanetta, your host at Elk Hollow.

After 34 years in the rental industry, and with my husband Mike behind me the whole way, I built the retreat I'd always wanted to stay in. Elk Hollow sits a mile from the Deep Creek entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, on quiet ground with a stream running through it, hardwoods overhead, and wild turkeys and deer that turn up like they own the place. They kind of do.

What I care about is that you arrive and exhale. That you feel relaxed, safe, and at home, with more to do nearby than you'll have time for.

I'm happiest outdoors. I have two children, six grandchildren, and friends I've kept my whole life, and most of my favorite memories were made in these mountains. I hope you make some here too.

Come see us.

Why they chose this property

Lost Creek is the jungle one, and it's the most private tent on the property.

A canvas safari tent at the end of a private road, backed by nothing but trees and mountainside. Warm orange and earthy tones, soft rugs, rainforest touches, and a high pitched ceiling overhead. A creek runs out of sight just below the deck, and you'll hear its soft babble through the day. That's where the name comes from.

Guests keep telling us it's the most private of the tents, and cleaner and roomier than they expected. Soak in the freestanding tub, stand under the rain shower, then end the night in the hot tub with the fire going and the creek below.

Anniversaries, honeymoons, or a quiet reset for two, off the grid but five minutes from town.
