About this property

NEAR FRENCH QUARTER, 4 or 8 King beds, Sleeps 8 - 16 - safest area

GREAT AREA, Safe, No Crime! This is two, 4 bedroom homes in Arabi. Arabi is in St. Bernard Parish (County). Arabi has a superior law enforcement that does not tolerate crime. When you stay in Arabi, you can go enjoy all of the fun things that New Orleans has to offer, but you return to sleep in Arabi without any worries of someone breaking into your house or car. Also, you can safely walk the streets at night in this neighborhood. Don't take a chance. Have a crime free vacation by staying at this house!

This is a beautifully restored home four miles from the French Quarter. Very safe neighborhood. Plenty of Parking. Also, very close to a boat launch which offers the best fishing in the country. Stay an extra day or two. Bring a boat or charter a fishing captain and go fishing.

The house has 4 king beds. There are 3 full baths and a half bath. We completed remodeling the house in July 2014. Next door is a another house with 4 king beds and 3.5 baths. We completed remodeling the second house in February, 2020. We have central air and heat and a washer/dryer in the house. The house has a nice porch table and chairs. The front porch is a nice place to sit in the afternoons with sun setting behind the house. From the porch, you can watch the cruse liners, paddle boats and cargo ships go up and down the Mississippi river. This is Southern relaxation at it's best. The French Quarter is 10-15 minutes away.

No Smoking. No Pets.
Early check-ins are available at $50 per each hour prior to 4:00 p.m.
Late check-outs are free if available.

Mardi Gras 2025

Excellent stay in a quiet neighborhood only a fifteen minute drive to the French Quarter, where the parades and festivities were. Plenty of parking for the vehicles we rented, and bus stops a few blocks walk away. There were several small shops within walking distance, but many were closed for the celebrations. Larry was easy to reach when we needed anything. The house was clean and bright. Well stocked cooking and eating necessities, but we did buy more toilet paper, as there was only enough for a couple days, and no laundry soap. Would definitely recommend for a small group or family vacation!

New Orleans Charm

It is a beautiful house with lots of space. The neighborhood was quiet and about a block from the Mississippi River/ levee. We enjoyed our stay.

Authentic NOLA experience!

My husband & I, along with two other couples who are dear, lifelong friends, take an annual trip together. We call ourselves the “Travel Buddies”. NOLA is now at the top of the ranking of the best trip ever! Our authentic low country 1905 bungalow was the crowning jewel of our trip!

What a beautiful getaway!

The home was even better than expected. Close to a donut shop and grocery store, nice front porch to enjoy our morning coffee before headed off to the french quarter. Would stay here again!!

A Bit Disappointing

The owner was great, the pictures were way better than the actual. The house is in disrepair. Has not been kept up. I wouldn’t rent again and I wouldn’t refer friend or family.

Stellar location and comfortable stay

Excellent location and the whole house was comfortable and easy to maneuver. Having the washer and dryer was a plus as we were staying in the area for about week in total. When the Vrbo site wouldn't give me the access information, the owner was in top of it making sure we had a great time!

Family Fun

Our group enjoyed our stay at this property. The description and pictures of the house were accurate. Our group of eight particularly liked the front sitting room where we could all sit and visit. The house is located in an historical area of Arabi and we felt safe staying there. Be aware that another apartment could be rented above your space during your stay which was the case during our stay. Voices, sounds (music) and footsteps are easily picked up on the main floor.

Great house!

We had a great time staying at the house. It was very clean and super spacious! My party of 8 all enjoyed our stay. I loved the high ceiling with the chandeliers and the beds we’re comfortable. I definitely would stay here again. Getting an Uber or Lyft was super easy and didnt have to wait very long.

Great location

This is a very cool old house, in a convenient location if you want to explore downtown NOLA. The house is in a nice neighborhood on a quiet street. It has large bedrooms, plenty of bathrooms, a really large and comfortable living room, and fully equipped kitchen. It has plenty of room for parking and a big yard. The only potential drawback is the back part of the house which is a rental unit as well. You might end up with a noisy partier in that back unit, but hey, it's New Orleans! It's a short drive, or uber ride to the French quarter. The owner was easy to reach by phone and very easy to work with. We would love to return!

Lovely Home

The spacious ground floor apartment is a comfortable accommodation near enough to the French Quarter to quickly access by car, but far enough away to escape the overenergized bar scenes and throngs of tourists. We highly recommend!

This place was the highlight of an amazing weekend with friends.

I had never stayed in this area before but after staying here I will make this my go-to place. On top of such a nice Parrish, this home and entire neighbor has so much character. We found ourselves wanting to stay on-premise more even with all the enticements of French Quarter and NOLA. Convenient drive or uber to other areas. But this place is so quiet and we found incredible out of the way restaurants within 2 miles of this area. We will not only come back to Arabi we would not hesitate to rent this. Huge king beds, ample bathrooms and well maintained historic house. Felt like home

Beautiful home

Larry and his son are great and very accommodating. The home is pretty and very comfortable and the neighborhood is safe. We meet a few of the neighbors and even they were as sweet as pie too! Location wise though we wish the house was a little closer to the French quarter and other landmarks as it turned out to be costly to catch uber or a taxi to travel back and forth

Disappointing - was supposed to accommodate 8 people

There was only 1 complete place setting for meals, no icemaker, 2 drinking glasses, 1 hair dryer attached to wall in one bathroom, no towel bars, no smoke detectors in bedrooms, no detergent for dishwasher, only 2 burners worked properly on the stove, 5 rolls of toilet paper for 8 people for 7 nights, hole in a wall, holes in the flooring covered by rugs, lights flickered, lots more.

Wedding weekend

My family traveled to New Orleans from Iowa so that my husband and I could get married. My bridal party stayed in the front and back apartments of this house. When we got to the property we all decided pictures didn’t do it justice, the house is huge and the room are a really nice size. Larry was super helpful with keeping in contact with us. We were gonna use the lot next door for our wedding but due to rain ended up having it inside, there was plenty of room and the photos turned out stunning! 10/10 would recommend to stay here especially if you have a large group and get both sides, it made hanging out with all our friends so easy but then everyone also got their own space.

Great vacation

The home is great. Larry will answer to any request. This Year we needed festival chairs, last rental it was wine glasses. He really makes every effort to give 1000% Party of 8 was very comfortable in this home. Just sorry we never got to visit rocco's, recommended by many. It's outside the quarter, so we considered renting a car, but did fine with cabs and uber. Much better to ride than drive and try to park. A wonderful vacation, thank you Larry

No HOT water in the shower!

Pros- This was a nice antique home. We had the perfect space for our party. The neighborhood was nice. We even took a walk in the neighborhood and came across the beautiful levee. We was able to see the boats going by playing live music and the wind from levee was nice. Cons- NO(code) instructions on how to get into the home when we arrived. I had to call VRBO and they was able to give me the code. I had called & emailed the owner 1st but no response until hours later. When the owner did respond through text, it was NO hello I am sorry for the delay and welcome to my home/New Orleans. No greeting at all. We had really small ants by the stove and going up the wall behind the stove. We only seen them when we cooked. So if you stay here don't leave any food out not even for a second. Now for my BIGGEST complaint, we did NOT have any HOT water to shower in while we was there. After contacting the owner Larry he sent a plumber out. He did something and we had hot water in my bathroom sink but not the shower. He sent the plumber back out and come to find out the hot water tank went out. They was supposed to replace it but I guessed they never did because they hooked up another line or tank from the another unit that is attached to the house we were in. I continued to communicate with the owner that the showers were still not getting hot. The last thing they did, the water only got barley luke warm. My cousins that shared the hallway bathroom said their shower finally got hot and that was like after we have been there for some days but the showers in the bedrooms never did get hot. I didn't like that at ALL!!! Even on our last night i informed the owner that the showers was still not getting hot and he NEVER communicated again with me. Bad service overall. sidenote- when I met the owner Larry he seemed to be a nice guy and he brought us some cold cut sandwiches. I guess as an I am sorry. That was on the second day of our stay. We stayed 4 nights without hot water in the showers of the bedroom bathrooms. Once he fixed that issue this would be an awesome place to stay at. However, who want to pay over a thousand and something dollars and not have the basic things you need like hot water. I feel he should have compensated us some of our money back for this. Just my opinion. If the shoe was on the other foot I am sure he would feel the same way. Overall we still enjoyed being in New Orleans!

I live in this area all of my life. My family has been living in this neighborhood for more than 100 years. I am the property owner.

Why they chose this property

Why This Property? Because it is not in New Orleans, but only minutes away. I make this point because of the New Orleans Crime. I enjoy all that New Orleans has to offer, but I love coming back and sleeping in a safe crime free neighborhood.

I bought this house because it is a great historic home. It's in a wonderful neighborhood. I remember this home as a child growing up. I was happy to have the opportunity to purchase and restore this old treasure.

What makes this property unique

The best that New Orleans has to offer is just minutes away. This house is close to many waterways, offering charter fishing.
