About this property
Furnished Oak Park Flat / Ideal for 1 to 6 Month Stays / Entire Apartment
This home is designed for people who want more than a place to sleep—it’s for those looking to settle in, exhale, and live comfortably for a month or longer.
Located on the first floor of a classic Oak Park two-flat, this fully furnished apartment offers the privacy and space of a real home in one of the area’s most charming, architecturally rich neighborhoods. Tree-lined streets, historic homes, and an easy rhythm of daily life define the experience here.
Inside, the layout is generous and intentional. Two private bedrooms allow flexibility—perfect for a couple, an executive, or a traveling nurse who wants a dedicated home office or personal retreat. The living and dining areas are spacious and welcoming, designed to flow easily while still offering quiet corners for work, reading, or rest.
The large bathroom is bright and well-appointed, stocked with essentials so you can arrive and immediately feel at home. The oversized kitchen is fully equipped with quality cookware, dinnerware, and everything needed for real cooking—not just reheating—making longer stays genuinely comfortable.
One of the most loved features of the home is the outdoor living space. The private garage-top deck sits among mature oak trees and includes a fire pit, dining table, gas grill, and lounge seating. Guests often describe this space as a sanctuary—ideal for morning coffee, remote work, or winding down in the evening.
The apartment has earned 100+ five-star reviews for its cleanliness, thoughtful design, peaceful atmosphere, and the ease of staying here long-term. Guests also consistently note the convenience of the location, with simple access to Chicago and surrounding suburbs by car or public transit.
This home is best suited for two people seeking a quiet, comfortable, fully furnished apartment for 30 days or longer. While the living area includes a pull-out sofa with an inflatable mattress for occasional overnight guests, the space is intentionally designed for calm, low-traffic living rather than group stays.
If you’re looking for a place that feels grounded, well cared for, and easy to live in—where you can truly settle in rather than count nights—this home offers exactly that.
I’m always happy to answer questions and help determine if the space is the right fit for your stay.

About the host
Hosted by Kathy Carpenter
I’m a long-time Oak Park resident and have lived in this home for nearly 40 years. I began hosting in 2015, welcoming extended-stay guests who were looking for a comfortable, peaceful place to live rather than a short-term vacation rental.
I’m a young spirited grandma and someone who values calm, cleanliness, and care—for both people and spaces. In my personal life, I study and practice Kundalini yoga, metaphysics, and dream interpretation, which shapes how I approach hosting: thoughtfully, intentionally, and with respect for each guest’s privacy and individuality.
What I enjoy most about being a host is creating an environment where guests can settle in and feel supported, whether they’re here for work, a transition, or simply a quieter season of life. I’m attentive and responsive, but never intrusive, and I take pride in maintaining a home that feels grounded, welcoming, and well cared for.
Clear communication, mutual respect, and ease of living are important to me. My goal is to make your stay comfortable and straightforward, so you can focus on what matters most during your time here.

Why they chose this property
One of the things I love most about living here is the sense of community. This is a neighborhood where people know one another, look out for each other, and genuinely enjoy being outside together.
In the warmer months, it’s common to hear porch concerts—neighbors playing music, others pulling up chairs, kids riding bikes, and people stopping to chat. It’s relaxed, joyful, and very Oak Park. Each year we also host two block parties, which bring everyone together for food, conversation, and laughter. Guests often remark on how welcoming and friendly the neighborhood feels, even if they’re only here for a short while.
The streets are tree-lined and architecturally rich, with historic homes that invite slow walks and a sense of place. It’s the kind of neighborhood where mornings begin with coffee on the porch or deck, evenings wind down quietly, and daily life has an easy, grounded rhythm.
Despite the peaceful setting, the location is incredibly convenient. Public transportation and major roads make it simple to get into Chicago or around the suburbs, while nearby parks and green spaces offer room to breathe close to home.
What I enjoy most is that this neighborhood manages to feel both alive and calm—social without being loud, connected without being intrusive. It’s a place where people tend to stay, and where guests often say they feel at home much sooner than expected.

What makes this property unique
This home stands out because it was designed and cared for as a place to truly live, not just a place to stay.
Unlike many furnished rentals, this is a long-established, owner-occupied home that has been thoughtfully maintained for decades. Having lived here for nearly 40 years and hosted extended-stay guests since 2015, I’ve created a space that balances comfort, privacy, and ease—qualities that matter most during month-long stays.
The apartment offers generous indoor and outdoor space, including a rare private garage-top deck surrounded by mature oak trees, complete with a fire pit, dining area, grill, and lounge seating. Guests often say this outdoor space becomes part of their daily routine—morning coffee, remote work, or unwinding in the evening.
The layout is ideal for two people staying long-term, with two private bedrooms that allow flexibility for a dedicated office, creative space, or personal retreat. The home is fully furnished for real living, with a large, well-equipped kitchen, quality furnishings, and storage that makes longer stays comfortable.
What truly sets this property apart is the atmosphere—quiet, grounded, and respectful. The building is home to an executive tenant upstairs who has renewed his lease three times, reflecting the calm, well-managed nature of the property. Many guests comment on how easy it feels to settle in here and how quickly it begins to feel like home.
Combined with a welcoming Oak Park neighborhood, responsive and thoughtful hosting, and a strong history of five-star reviews, this home offers a level of stability and care that’s rare in furnished rentals.
