From either of these great places, you can start your day with coffee on the deck rocking chairs, then take your dog for a 10 minute stroll to the Cheshire Village Shops and Cafes for another coffee, or for a 2 minute drive to lovely (pet friendly) downtown Black Mountain, with it's many interesting shops, antiques, and wonderful restaurants. You'll find the local people to be friendly and welcoming.

The cabin is only 1 mile from the grocery store, a complete Fitness Center, with swimming pool and racquet ball courts, and 10 minutes to scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, or 15 minutes to Asheville and Biltmore Estate. See Asheville's many art galleries, entertainment venues, great restaurants, and eclectic street performers.

Be careful driveway to get to house is steep and in bad condition. House was musty, and the mattress in master was dirty. Hot tub, outside deck, and firepit was nice. Smaller view of a mountain from deck. Older home and more rustic in condition.

Black MTN GETAWAY

We have stayed at various locations in western NC for 10 years running. Many were nice, but this cabin stands alone. Great location, fully equipped, convenient to shopping and restaurants and hiking. Looking forward to next year.

This was a perfect place for us to stay for a quick weekend in Black Mountain The house was so clean and comfortable and the location was perfect. Our hosts were responsive and we so appreciate how they welcomed our dogs as guests as well! We will definitely be back!

Perfect long weekend

We had such a wonderful time in this beautiful little house. We loved looking at the stars from the hot tub, playing games, eating breakfast out on the deck, and eating at many of the wonderful local restaurants (Ole Guacamole and Blue Ridge Biscuit Kitchen were amazing!) There are so many pretty parks and ways to enjoy nature as a family. We hope to return ASAP, highly highly recommend!

Private respite

We stayed while our Black Mountain home was closing. The surroundings - woods, mountains - were perfection. We just needed to relax and the cottage - extremely cozy with a full kitchen, leather furniture we melted in, comfortable beds, updated bathroom - satisfied our wants. I had to work remotely and never experienced an internet issue. Ingles and all shopping were minutes away, so although you feel isolated, activity is within reach.Also, our dog loved exploring the area. We had to extend our stay twice and Gerald was most agreeable.If we ever visit again, the cottage will be our first choice.

This location was ideal. It was secluded enough that we had privacy but were just minutes away from town and other attractions. The grounds and view are beautiful. The host’s suggestions on restaurants etc was incredibly helpful as we were new to this are. We loved our stay.

Cozy Holiday Getaway

We had a nice, cozy holiday in beautiful and fun Black Mountain. The cabin was conveniently located close to town but gave a sense of being away from it all. Beautiful views from the porch, cozy fireplace, and comfy bed. Communication with owner was excellent!

Black Mountain Hideaway

We had so much fun here! It’s a beautiful cabin that feels like it’s in the middle of nowhere but is only a short drive to the lovely town of Black Mountain. It had everything we needed and the hot tub was amazing! I hope to return someday soon.

Perfect cabin and stay!

Thank you so much to Donna & Gerry for this beautiful, well appointed cabin. My best friend and I so enjoyed our stay in Black Mountain. We were able to try some of your recommendations and I was able to get a bucket list hike done. The cabin is cozy, clean and close to town but feels miles away. A perfect place to stay.

Awesome Black Mountain Trip

Super close to highway and easy drive in and out to Ashville. Everything at house had great directions for use ie heat/ac, tv, hot tub, etc. Host is on their A game for having folks have an issue free stay!! Thank you so much and definitely recommend your place to others.

I prefer having a dishwasher. Hot tub was nice but by the end of the week it had lost water below the jets. There was some dog hair on the sofa and dust under the twin beds. The fire pit was fun.

We've been happily married for 54 years, and have enjoyed traveling around the country in our camping van for the past 15 years, since retiring from our hectic careers. We were so often drawn back to the Black Mountain / Asheville area, and the Blue Ridge Mountains, that we finally realized we needed to own a little piece of it. Finding, restoring, and updating our little 'Black Mountain Hideaway' has been a dream come true. We love this cozy, romantic little place so much that we've decided to share it with others when we can't be here. Our wish is for you to enjoy this tranquil home and wonderful area as much as we do.

Update: In 2019, we built our second rental, Bluebird Hideaway, listing # 1684195, just downhill from Black Mountain Hideaway. It is a lovely cape cod style home that sits on it's own 1+ private acres.

Why they chose this property

We chose Black Mountain because no matter where you look, you are surrounded by these beautiful mountains, and each season has its own special appeal. The local people always have a welcoming smile for you. Most of the shops and restaurants are pet friendly, and often have water bowls and dog treats handy. There is a wonderful variety of activities and entertainment venues in this area. Fantastic outdoor life all seasons.

What makes this property unique

We love returning to this quiet, cozy cabin after a busy day of shopping or sightseeing for a relaxed evening in front of the fireplace, or by the outdoor firepit. Even a lazy day at home is a treat. Some of our favorite Black Mountain restaurants are 'My Father's Pizza' for the best crust we've ever had, 'Ole Quacamole's' for their authentic Mexican meals, and the 'Veranda Cafe' for their fantastic homemade soups and sandwiches. We often enjoy afternoon coffee at the 'Dripolator', or yummy treats at the 'Black Mountain Bakery'. All of these favorites have cozy outdoor dining as well.
