About this property
Waterfront Hideaway on the Tidal Falls midway between Acadia and Schoodic
The house, nestled amongst the trees and sitting very close to the shore creates privacy while providing stunning views of the special reversing tidal falls - an ever-changing landscape to enjoy. A great place to stay all day or come back to after Acadian adventures.
This 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath year round home has views from every room. Downstairs has a master suite with queen bed and full bath. Complete kitchen opens up to a dining and living area. Half bath is downstairs. Upstairs are the other two bedrooms -both with a queen bed and one single bed. One bedroom also has a large desk for writing or other projects. Also on the second floor is the cathedral ceilinged artist studio, and full bath. Hardwood floors in the large studio make for a great room to dance, create, read, play music or listen to a great assortment of Classical, jazz, and rock vinyl records.
It's a great set-up for a multigenerational family with the older generation downstairs and the younger upstairs..
The large deck off the downstairs makes for outdoor dining and socializing all while listening to and watching the rush and ever-changing landscape of the tidal falls. Many marine mammal and bird (including eagles, osprey and loons) sightings await.
The walk down to the shore has paths amongst a mature, landscaped garden. Sit in an Adirondack chair by the fire pit and practically be on the Falls.
Enjoy the best of Downeast Maine with trips to Mount Desert and Acadia, or to Acadia's Schoodic Peninsula. Hancock has many fine restaurants to enjoy. Ellsworth is just 15 minutes away for shopping.

About the host
Hosted by Lydia

I have lived in Maine for much of my adult life. I spent many summers as a child in this Downeast Region and love it. I am now a State Representative and work on Marine Resource issues in the Legislature. I live full-time in York, Maine and visit this house as much as possible.
Why they chose this property
My parents built this house in 1987. After they died, I bought the home from my siblings. Our family loves this house for its privacy and year round capability, the area for all the great summer happenings nearby and the fantastic Maine seafood that tastes best eaten here. The ever-changing landscape of the reversing, tidal falls is always worth watching.
What makes this property unique
One of the unique benefits of this house is its privacy and water view. It is built closer to the water than its neighbors because it was one of the first and then the zoning laws changed. The large back deck has lots of bench seating and is an ideal "extra room" in the summer months and a fine place to have a meal. The mature trees, and a natural landscape design help inspire a feeling of getting away from it all. The sculpture in the gardens pleases the eye.
Inside, the upstairs studio provides a great space for an escape on a rainy day. There is a fine piece of stained glass depicting an egret that gives the room extra character. The bedrooms all afford privacy - I like that the upstairs is like a complete family suite, nicely separated from the downstairs master.
