comfortable home near town
We had a lovely stay in Angelita's house. It is a ten minute (uphill) walk into Cisternino, which has a beautiful old town centred around the Piazza. The kitchen was well appointed and there is a basic barbecue in the garden which we used on a couple of occasions. This is the type of barbecue which actually requires lighting a fire and this seems to be the done thing here as at around 7.30pm there smoke everywhere.
The backyard has a number of fruit trees and as such my wife enjoyed fresh figs with her breakfast every day.
Angelita's Mum, Maria came around one day and taught us how to make Orecchiette from scratch, which was a delight.
In town, the locals all hit the streets at about 6.30pm and from 8pm it gets quite busy. We tried one of the Carne al Fornelli (barbecuing butchers) and it was a fun experience.
