The Water Street Flat is a charming space and no detail has been overlooked. Beautifully kept apartment with high end furnishings. Very comfortable accommodations in beautiful downtown Decorah. Even complimentary treats from coffee shop downstairs! Thoroughly enjoyed our stay
Nice location in downtown Decorah. Very walkable to all the downtown shops and restaurants. We enjoyed sitting on the deck in both the evening and morning. Check-in was easy and Susie was easy to communicate with.
Our family of 7 had a wonderful and very comfortable stay. The free coffee and pastry each morning from the Lefsa Lodge was a perfect morning treat. The flat is located on the main strip near many fun stores. We enjoyed the rock store Magic Morpho and the farmers market (right across the street). Mabe's Pizza was amazing! We also enjoyed Dunning Springs and the ice caves only a 3 minute drive. Highly recommended.
The Water Street Flat is fantastic place in a great location.Let me start by saying that the Host was fabulous and very accommodating to our needs. My 9-year-old daughter even stated that "whoever owns this place must be awesome", and she was right. The place itself was comfortable, clean and the furniture was very well laid out from the kitchen to the bedrooms. Speaking of the kitchen, it had everything that you needed. We stayed a whole week and for the times we did not go out to eat, we stayed home and it felt as close as you could get to being in my own kitchen from making crepes to steaks. The internet was solid and could handle four computers gaming Fortnite at once. There was plenty of room to spread out for my family of seven and play games or just relax and with two wonderful bathrooms (one with a tub and the other with a shower) everyone could get ready in a short amount of time for a night on the town.Location-wise, you cannot beat this spot. You have access to a number of local churches within a short walk, the library is a great resource for entertaining kids also a brisk walk away and then shopping in local downtown Decorah is right at your doorstep. Great restaurants abound with the Lefse Lodge Kafe right under foot and a late evening trip to the Sugar Bowl for ice cream just three doors down.Overall I highly recommend the Water Street Flat and know that when I make return trips to Decorah, it will be my destination again.
Everything we could ask for when meeting "in the middle" with friends from the Twin Cities. If you can climb a flight of stairs you will find a clean, nicely decorated, 2 bed, 2 bath quiet apartment in walking distance of restaurants, shopping, ice cream, and museums. Susie was quick to respond to a parking matter. She's a great hostess. This was our second stay and we will return.
My son and I stayed at this home over the Luther College check-in weekend and I can honestly say that both him and I thought this was the most comfortable home away from home we’ve ever been to. We travel a lot and the comfort and amazing location of the flat on Water Street was by far absolutely the best! The beds and living space are set up for lounging and sleeping in, watching TV, enjoying company while on the back deck over looking the morning farmers market and beautiful open windows with access to the hustle and bustle of the lovely town of Decorah right out the door. The location of the flat was literally, step out the door, and you have your pick of restaurants and cute and unique stores. My son actually decided to meet his fellow college friends one evening and just took a short walk to the delicious Mabe’s pizza. No need for a car, simplicity of the vacation comforts one would want from all of the little touches that are in the home, to a town straight out of a Hallmark movie all around and right out the door. I cannot recommend this property enough, especially considering the hospitality and exceptional communication of the owner. We will definitely be staying here again for all of our Decorah visits.
This property was absolutely perfect! The owners have thoughtfully set up the space and we had everything we needed. The location is fantastic to explore the downtown area and the views from the property are lovely with lots of windows and light. If you like the smell of lefse cooking, you will get free smells from the bakery below.
We enjoyed our stay and wish we had more time. One night was not enough time to see and do everything. Nice, roomy place with 2 bathrooms. We were disappointed the Lefse Lodge below was closed on Sundays and closes at 2 pm on Saturday so we missed out on Norwegian goodies. We will have to come back and we would definitely stay here again. Love the location.
Even though our stay had to be canceled due to an unexpected issue, our host handled everything with great care and professionalism. She went out of her way to make things right, and I truly appreciate how responsive and accommodating she was. I look forward to booking with her again in the future!
The Water Street Flat was perfect for what we wanted for our weekend in Decorah. Its location downtown, the open and roomy living and kitchen space, plus the deck in back made for a great place to be.
Everything was perfect! Highly recommend this cute, above the Lefse Lodge, apartment. Close to stores, restaurants, bars as well as the school, museum, etc. You can sit on the back deck and listen to the music at the Saturday Farmer’s Market and visit it to pick up delicious treats, etc. Would definitely stay again - thank you!
Flat was bigger than expected. Had tons of windows with fantastic light. In warm weather, back deck would be a superb place to hang out. Everything was clean, attractive, and in excellent condition.
