About this property

~ Peaceful And Quaint Family Cottage On An Island In Maine ~

This summer cottage on an island in Maine overlooks the beautiful Penobscot Bay. This rustic cottage has a moderate living space with a wood-burning stove, an inner porch with a great view of the bay, and a lot of family charm. The house was built in the 1930s by two sisters of the Allen family, who owned the property next to this one. This cottage has been passed down through the family and cherished by each generation. The entire property has a lovely view of the Penobscot Bay.
Amenities include: WiFi, beach access, shared driveway but private parking, w/d in home, dishwasher. There are only two markets on the island, so we suggest getting your groceries before embarking on your journey by way of ferry departing from Lincolnville (which runs from 8 am - 5 pm daily).

If you are looking for a calm, rustic retreat away from it all this is the cottage for you.

~ If your party needs a little extra room, we have an additional cabin for 2 on the property that you may also consider ~ See HomeAway Listing # 4210882 ~

About the host

We are descendants of the Allen family who started coming to Islesboro at the end of the 19th century. Three cottages were built on the beach by family members and are still enjoyed by their descendants. Islesboro is such a cherished place for all of us that even though most of us live over a thousand miles away we make the trip back to the island every year. We love nature and boating and getting the whole group of us together at least once a year.

Why they chose this property

This property will provide a beautiful and tranquil setting for you. It's a comfortable place where you can kick your shoes off and relax. There's nothing like waking up in the morning and looking out on the bay and the neighboring islands in the distance.
This is the perfect place for you if you want to unwind and enjoy the simple things like beachcombing, taking nature walks, and cycling. Having a private beach allows for you to have a bonfire (with a permit, of course! :))

What makes this property unique

The property is away from the main road so it is quiet. The cottage is waterfront but also wooded so you have the benefit of both. The dining table is out on the front porch so every time you sit down to eat you'll have a beautiful view. On chilly nights you can build a fire in the wood stove and toast marshmallows for s'mores!
