Cozy Cute Historic Sea Spray Cottage #1

If you are looking for a unique vacation opportunity where you do not have to invite 25 of your closest friends and family members, Sea Spray Cottages OBX is the place for you. The location is ideal, Mile Post 11.7, just south of Nags Head Pier and just north of Snowbird's Soft Serve Ice Cream; you will be centrally located to many attractions.

Sea Spray Cottages were built in 1950. There are 5 cottages in total, each cottage is similar to the others, but unique in its own way.

My wife and I have been operating the SEA SPRAY COTTAGES OBX for vacations rentals since 2009. We run a mom & pop operation, an experience from a day gone-by but thoroughly enjoyed by our guests.

Sea Spray Cottages OBX provide guests with a feel of what vacationing was like on the Outer Banks during a less complicated era. The cottages are equipped with modern conveniences that will make your visit relaxing and enjoyable. Linens and towels are NOT provided, but our assistant manager, Billy, can suite you up for a fee. Just ask for his contact information. Check in is at 4 and check out is at 10:00.

Cottage #1 has 3-bedrooms, which sleeps 6. It has an open floor plan that lends itself to relaxed and enjoyable stay. This cottage has a welcoming front porch and a back porch for out-door dining.

Dogs are welcome, we try to keep it to 2 (the cottage is primarily for folks, it's not a kennel). $125 for the first two and $100 each after that.

Unique to the Outer Banks this cottage is available for nightly stays even during the summer. In the summer we do have a 3-night minimum.

If your desired dates of travel are not available in this cottage, we have others. There are 5 cottages in total at Sea Spray Cottages OBX, all similar in vintage, but unique from one another. If you are a regular on the Outer Banks, they are the gray cottages with the pink doors on the beach road in Nags Head.

Failure to complete these may result in a negative review from the host.

Since on septic, only toilet tissue and human waste down the bowl. No contraceptive or feminine products in bowl. Pick up dog poop, right away!

If you cancel your reservation and I am able to rebook - I will issue a refund.

Located in Nags Head, this cottage is near a water park and on the beach. Full Throttle Speedway and Mutiny Bay Adventure Golf are local attractions and those in the mood for shopping can visit Outer Banks Mall and Outlets Nags Head. Professor Hacker's Lost Treasure Golf and Paradise Fun Park are also worth visiting. Jet skiing and kayaking offer great chances to get out on the surrounding water, or you can seek out an adventure with horse riding and hiking nearby.

This is a charming vintage cottage with a well appointed kitchen, sitting area and front porch. Beach access is quite close and it looks just like the photos in the listing. We enjoyed our weekend here and would recommend it.

Sea Spray Cottage #2 was super cute! My family of 5 enjoyed staying there for the long 4th of July weekend! The outdoor shower, the walkable distance to the beach and Jockey’s Ridge Park, and seeing fireworks from the front porch were all great perks!

Great beach house. It was easy to communicate and check in was a breeze. It's your basic beach house. Definitely would recommend to bring kitchen items if you plan to cook. It did not have a beach view as advertised, it was 1 block out. I struggled getting our beach things down the block and up the stairs to the beach. Otherwise, we enjoyed being near the ice cream shops and had a great time. Thank you!

I am sorry you had to struggle accessing the beach. I wish you had reached out during your stay. The Curlew Street beach access just to the north is a flat entrance; no dune to climb over.

The property is close to many of the main restaurants, shops and attractions in nags head which is a plus. The walk to the beach is only 3 mins. The property itself does NOT include linens or towels which is accurate the listening description, however they don’t even provide hand towels or shower wash. There are not extra trash bags or dish detergent. Be prepared to bring everything with you to this property. I would say the plus is that it’s dog friendly but wasn’t the cleanest. We’ve stayed in OBX at dog friendly properties and they were a lot more accommodating, cleaner and we felt welcome in those homes.

Just to clarify, we DO NOT provide sheets or towels. It states that in THREE places: the listing; the rental agreement all guests have to agree to; and in the welcome package sent 72 hours before check in. Not great vibes from the start, we accommodated guest's last-minute change in plans and issued a full refund (although not required to). If the guests read our FAQs that were linked to the welcome package, then they would have an understanding of what is provided. The cottage was left very dirty with dog hair everywhere and sand, even on top of the internet router. Rated this guest low and asked that she not return (which we never have done before).

Great location. Clean. Yard had cactus and small sharp plants that kept getting on my dogs feet, and back yard had a piece of wood over a large hole. I would say walk your dog off property to keep their feet safe. Beds need updating, they are stiff and hot. Good hot water and shower pressure. Had plenty of plates and silverware. Very close to beach , probably our favorite part. Also close to the dunes , easy drive to Kitty Hawk Kites. We bought a kite and flew it in the dunes and on the beach ,very memorable. Loved the hangers on the porch , we used them for wet beach clothes and towels. Also there is a restaurant in a very short walking distance, less than a block away, very convenient for late night snack when you get tired from the beach.

Fantastic Beach Cottage

Traditional Nags Head beach house with lots of space for gathering. Nearby family came for the day, and we all enjoyed sitting on the front porch. Very short walk to the beach. We would definitely stay here again.

Quick spring get away

We were looking for a small place close to the beach for just my wife and I and our 2 dogs. This was perfect for what we were looking for. The house was very clean, and check-in was easy. We only stayed for 2 nights but would consider a longer stay next time

My wife, Laura Lee Garrett, had been vacationing on the Outer Banks of North Carolina since she was an infant and introduced me, John Vollino, to the area when we were dating. We purchased our first vacation cottage a year after we were married in 1991 and purchase the Sea Spray Cottage Court in 2007. The cottages were built in 1950; there are four in total.

Why they chose this property

The cottages were slated for demolition and sale of the bare lots. We purchased the cottage court to save them from the wrecking ball. Our intent is to preserve and revitalize a little piece of old Nags Head so that we and others can enjoy a bit of history and vacation in a comfortable and uncomplicated way.

What makes this property unique

At the Sea Spray Cottages you will not have to vacation with 25 of your closest friends and family. Given the size of the cottages, you can enjoy your vacation with your immediate family or with a few close friends at a very affordable price. There is plenty to do in Nags Head including enjoying the beach, which is across the street. Cottage #1 has a large comfortable front porch were you can sit, enjoy your favorite beverage and watch the world go by.
