About this property

Laughing Water Yurt

★ A Moroccan oasis for two, deep in the woods.

Laughing Water is a round hard-wall yurt at Elk Hollow, tucked into the trees with a stream running just below the deck. A community trail with footbridges and benches winds through the woods nearby. The loudest things here are birdsong, the stream, and the wind in the trees.

🛋️ INSIDE

➝ Custom oversized Moroccan-tiled walk-in shower with a rainfall head
➝ Full-size washer + dryer in the unit

🌲 OUTSIDE
➝ Wraparound deck in the trees
➝ Private covered hot tub on the deck
➝ Gas grill + table for two
➝ Fire pit down by the stream

♥ WHO IT'S FOR
Couples. Anniversaries, honeymoons, or a quiet reset for two. Quiet by design, so it's a getaway, not a party house.

🚗 GETTING HERE
The arrival is part of it: a wooded trail of about 38 steps leads up to the deck, with five more down to the fire pit. It earns the seclusion, but it's a real climb, so pack light and skip this one if stairs are a problem. Easy drive in otherwise, no 4WD needed. Five minutes from downtown Bryson City, right by the Deep Creek entrance to the Smokies.

My wife and I have visited this area for several years to celebrate anniversary’s because we love the mountains and by FAR this experience has been the highlight of all trips. Jeannette the host was awesome to work with. We would recommend this to anyone looking for a private and peaceful stay near Bryson City area. Without a doubt we will be back, we wrote names of other yurts and safari tents we want to check out. Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise and we will see you again!

This place is very well represented in the photos and quite private. We absolutely enjoyed the space, and its proximity to great hiking (the national park is like 100 yards down the road). The deck, hot tub and fire pit are very near a running stream, adding to the peaceful wooded surroundings. We would most definitely stay here again! Thanks, Jeanetta!

Hi, I'm Jeanetta, your host at Elk Hollow.

After 34 years in the rental industry, and with my husband Mike behind me the whole way, I built the retreat I'd always wanted to stay in. Elk Hollow sits a mile from the Deep Creek entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, on quiet ground with a stream running through it, hardwoods overhead, and wild turkeys and deer that turn up like they own the place. They kind of do.

What I care about is that you arrive and exhale. That you feel relaxed, safe, and at home, with more to do nearby than you'll have time for.

I'm happiest outdoors. I have two children, six grandchildren, and friends I've kept my whole life, and most of my favorite memories were made in these mountains. I hope you make some here too.

Come see us.

Why they chose this property

Laughing Water is the Moroccan one, and it's built for two.

A round hard-wall yurt layered in rich red and blue textiles, soft lighting, and a custom Moroccan-tiled shower. Round walls, a wood ceiling overhead, and a stream running just below the deck. It doesn't look or sound like anywhere else you've stayed.

The arrival is part of the draw: a wooded trail of about 38 steps up to the deck, which is a real climb but buys you a level of seclusion the easier units can't match. A community trail with footbridges and benches winds through the woods nearby.

Sip coffee as the forest wakes up, unwind in the freestanding tub, and end the night at the fire pit by the water. Anniversaries, honeymoons, or a quiet reset for two.
