Looking for nice accommodation close to the state park for hiking. This met and beat our expectations. We liked the quietness of the property. Saw out 1st moose on the road there. The house has all the essentials to cook. Would book again
Absolutely adored staying at the Loon’s Nest. The family that run the cabins were so considerate & accommodating. The cabin was very clean with a picturesque view of Mt. McKinley & wildlife. My husband & I adored staying here and will again the next time we’re in town!
This was a great stay with amazing views of Mt McKinley. It was remote enough but still close to things to do. Suzie was great to work with and was very available if we needed anything!
Susie was awesome to work with and had wonderful advice. Would definitely stay here again. The cabin was immaculate and setting provided for some great pictures of Denali from a different perspective. While 10 minutes off the main road we thoroughly enjoyed the drive each time and the tranquility of the setting.

Our stay
Property manager was VERY accommodating when we arrived. Very kind and helpful! Didn’t received check in info before check in so we were worried. It all worked out. He was there when we arrived and called us back right before we got there to let us know.
We were a bit bummed at first that we couldn’t find a place closer to Talkeetna, but as soon as we arrived in Trapper Creek, we realized how perfect this cabin was. Rod was so a accommodating, helped us with fishing poles, lure and the canoe. He also helped us with briquettes and lighter fluid when we wanted to grill our salmon. When we went camping at Byers lake he let us take the fishing equipment offsite. We didn’t get to meet Susie but when there was an accidental overcharge she was very responsive and quick to resolve it. Excellent communication throughout. We REALLY enjoyed our stay and would love to return in the winter!
Yes, the location and cabin were great. What sets this property apart is the hosts. We woke with to find a flat rear tire. I installed the spare, but it was one of those 100 mile spares and we had to make 140 miles to Anchorage that day to catch our plane home. I contacted the office to see if they could recommend a tire place, and the owner Rob came out to look at the tire. Ends up he had a tire repair kit in his shop. He removed the screw from the tire, plugged the hole, inflated the tire and checked the plug, installed the fixed tire, helped put away the spare, and would not take any money for his efforts. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.
