This cottage was very charming and comfortable for our young family. The perfect refuge after a day on the slopes. Check in/out was seamless. We hope to return! Thank you!
We had a wonderful experience from communication with the owner, cleanliness, location, and the beautifully appointed home. We will absolutely rent again.
Perfect location to visit Norwich University for parents weekend. This cottage was so peaceful and relaxing. The fall foliage was spectacular and the running stream was so calming. Will definitely stay again😊
We were very comfortable at Orchard Cottage. Great beds and shower. The area was friendly and lots of fun. Spent lots of time on the beautiful porch when we weren’t hiking and exploring. Would love to return another time.

Wonderful ski weekend retreat!
We have stayed at Orchard Cottage three times and will be back! It is a charming and peaceful cottage nestled in the Vermont woods. Perfect for ski weekends - beautifully decorated, great kitchen with magnificent views, working fireplace, and close to Sugarbush! Both the owner and local property management are on top of the details and maintain the house to a high standard.

ORCHARD COTTAGE
Beautifully decorated and impeccably clean renovated antique house nestled in the woods near Sugarbush/Warren center. The beds/linens were extremely comfortable, kitchen fully stocked with necessary and brand new utensils/knives/appliances.

Wonderful Girls Weekend in Gorgeous Setting
Our group of 6 women had an extraordinary weekend retreating to this special cottage. The house was beautifully appointed with plenty of space/privacy and the mountain setting was the perfect location for an early fall getaway. Nearby Warren Village is vintage Vermont with the Pitcher Inn (excellent dining/bar area) and General Store (necessities and wonderful gifts). I look forward to returning to the Orchard Cottage with my family as soon as possible!

Orchard Cottage: A Great Option in the Mad River Valley
My buddies and I had a great visit to the Mad River Valley this weekend in Heidi's home. She has everything you need for a great stay, including comfortable beds, beautuiful views, a roaring fireplace and a chef's kitchen. For up to six people, this is the place to stay near Sugarbush and Mad River Valley. Period.
What a wonderful place. Orchard cottage is everything it seems like in the photos and more. We cooked all of our meals here and sat by the fire for hours. Highly recommend. Note: If coming in winter, you will definitely need AWD or 4WD and snow tires wouldn't hurt! We should have known to heed that warning.
Staying here feels like experiencing history. The cottage feels like stepping back in time to Colonial America. But don’t worry, the bathrooms and kitchen are beautifully updated. We enjoyed the fireplace and porch immensely. Making a meal was easy and we enjoyed the quiet solitude of the place. Waitsfield is an easy 15 minute drive. The cottage was meticulously clean and I felt safe, even in COVID times. We’ll be back!

A quaint VT mountain cottage
Orchard Cottage is the perfect spot for a quiet family get-away. It has wonderful colonial VT country charm, but with the modern convenience of updated bathrooms & kitchen. The bedroom space is suitable for a single family or 2 couples, but the living space is quite ample, with a wonderful fireplace & deck looking out to the mountains. We came up for a weekend of skiing at Sugarbush and found it so warm & welcoming we were reluctant to leave the house. The mountain is no more than 15 minutes drive, but would recommend 4WD/snowtires as the access road to the house is quite steep. We look forward to staying again soon.
My friend and I stayed here for several days and we were so happy we chose this as our home base The home and property are just beautiful! As many reviews have said, the home is even more lovely in person (which is hard to imagine!) and it has all the amenities one could ask for. The morning coffee on the deck with a gorgeous view was the perfect way to start our day. Waitsfield and Warren are so close and very charming towns. There is so much to do in the surrounding area. Hiking, biking, swimming, tasty cheeses, maple creemee at Canteen Creemee, great farm stands, local markets (so close!!) wonderful restaurants, pottery, glass art and so much more… We had so much fun exploring and then coming back to our lovely, comfortable home base. I plan to return here with my family. Thank you!

The perfect secluded Cape!
After driving up a beautiful private dirt road at peak foliage, we turned into the driveway of the cottage, as they refer to it. The landscaping and stone work is beautiful, paths lead you to either the front door or basement level mudroom. Upon entering, my family and I were all blown away. It was far more spacious than expected. The basement level "den" is an entire floor of extra space, including a bathroom. Walking upstairs, you couldn't help but notice all of the impeccable details that made this a house we'd all want to buy. Everything from the furnishings to the wall décor was truly perfect. Clean and super warm and cozy. Spacious and easy to entertain kitchen with large dining table was a plus to host our family. The bathroom on the main level is large, inviting, and complete with a claw foot tub. Upstairs, the bedrooms were plenty big, another half bath for convenience, and the beds were extremely comfortable! The cottage is very thoughtfully stocked with any essential that you might look for. They made the check-in and check-out process very easy, which was also a plus for us. All in all, a wonderful experience!!
A beautifully situated and beautifully decorated and maintained property! Communication was clear and easy and we felt very taken care of. Recommend highly!
Beautiful home, great location. Beds were very comfortable, very clean, well stocked kitchen. Shower was awesome! Very charming and nicely updated. Our only complaints would be that it would have been nice to have a little larger of a tv, and the cleaning fee was a bit high considering we were required to take sheets off the beds, wash the towels, run the dishwasher, and take out the garbage.
We had a great post Christmas stay at Orchard Cottage. The cottage was even more quaint in person, with everything we needed for our stay. The high quality bedding and linens made for a cozy stay. We enjoyed lots of family time by the wood-burning fire - our favorite part of our stay by far. Thanks for sharing your beautiful home!

This is a 5 star rental that acts like a warm embrace from the chaos of day to day life. The property and home are beautiful, spacious, clean and incredibly inviting. On top of the space being so fabulous - the owner and housekeeper were attentive, responsive and committed to all the details that make a vacation special. We can't wait to come back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Orchard Cottage. When we arrived we found the house spotless and lights were on to welcome us. The cottage is very well maintained and decorated with beautiful antiques. My favorite part of the house is the oversized and well-stocked kitchen, the large bathroom with extra soft towels and the views of the sunset in the evening. Easy drive to Sugarbush. When reading a few reviews, I was a little nervous how the road would be, but relative to other dirt roads in the Mad River Valley, this was easy. This is by far, my favorite house I have rented in the Valley (and I've rented many). Hope to be back!
Beautiful, historic home in an equally beautiful setting.
Fantastic, beautifully preserved and renewed old home for those who love historic homes. Great location. Stayed in winter, would love to revisit in the summer.

About the host
Hosted by Heidi Ringsted
Having originally purchased the main house next door, we jumped at the chance to buy Orchard Cottage when it became available. With a growing family, we needed space for all of our friends and family to congregate during the holidays. We live overseas but visit several times a year to ski, play in the Mad River, hike in the Green Mountains and be at peace in this really beautiful spot.
Why they chose this property
Orchard Cottage is nestled into a ridge on Roxbury Mountain in the middle of the Green Mountains. Set below the main house beyond the apple treehouse and the orchard. It has it's own driveway and is completely private.
What makes this property unique
This cottage would be perfect for a small family or a couple looking for a unique Vermont getaway. The setting is very peaceful and romantic and the furnishings extremely luxurious. Whether you plan an active break taking advantage of all that the valley has to offer or you are seeking a cozy retreat to relax and watch the foliage change or the wild turkeys and deer roaming through the orchard, Orchard Cottage can supply all of that!
Old Roxbury Road is a private road and a 4WD is a must even though it is plowed continually throughout the winter.
