Our Hale Makai ('Ocean house') is a spectacular home at a great value. A rare corner unit with gorgeous 180 degree ocean views from all rooms and the wrap-around lanai, we invite you to come here, relax and enjoy the aloha that our vacation home provides (and that Kauai is world-famous for!). The View

Our condo sits on the edge of a bluff overlooking the Pacific ocean and both bedrooms and the living room boast breathtaking ocean views. Wake up to an ocean view from your bed, fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean, have your morning coffee on the lanai and soak up the unspoiled ocean view. In season, watch the whales frolic and the albatross soar by without ever leaving. Also, our condo faces north so from the lanai you can also catch the colorful kaleidoscope of sunrise skies to the east and sunset skies to the west. Our condo is your front row seat to all of the above!

The Accommodations

Our condo is a two-bedroom, two-bath unit that sleeps five comfortably, has air-conditioning (in the summer you will want it!), and is furnished with tropical, island-style decor. The master has a cal-king bed and the second bedroom has a queen bed, both with very comfortable plush-top mattresses and 700+-thread count linens. There is also a full-size air bed (which inflate and deflates in minutes). The master bedroom also has 35" smart TV - so you can use your Hulu/Amazon Prime/NetFlix account to stream your favorite movies.

The floor plan is open and airy, and the condo flows from a well-appointed kitchen (fully remodeled in April 2024) and island/bar to a separate dining area and comfortably furnished living area. For your entertainment, there is a 55” flat panel Smart TV (Roku/Netflix/Hulu/etc.) and an Alexa Echo Dot. There are ceiling fans throughout, as well as ample windows in our corner condo to catch the crisp, tropical breeze. We also provide snorkel gear, boogie boards, beach chairs, and other beach gear to suit all you needs.

The Ali'i Kai complex

Ali'i Kai is a small, quiet complex of 56 units spread over seven buildings. Lushly landscaped with palm trees, birds of paradise, hibiscus, and plumeria trees, the grounds are gorgeous. Ali'i Kai features a resort-style pool, as well as tennis court privileges at the Makai Tennis Club. There are charcoal BBQs in several locations nearby. The inviting walk/jog path that runs through Princeville - with breathtaking views of the mountains on one side and the ocean on the other - is only a half-mile away.

This property was incredible! Spacious, gorgeous, oceanfront views, and a wrap around patio. Nicely remodeled kitchen and you can hear the ocean waves from each bedroom at night while sleeping. The property also has 2 nice bathrooms. This property was very clean and quite. Highly recommend . Easy check in.

Amazing!

We had an amazing stay here!!! By far the best view I’ve had in a vrbo rental. Saw beautiful sunrises over the ocean and several whales! You can hear the sound of the waves in every room. The house was very comfortable and clean. The host provided some detergent for laundry which was an added plus after our muddy hikes. The location was very quiet, peaceful, and uncrowded. About a ten minute drive into hanalei which was a nice distance for us. Would definitely stay again!

Great View

Great location and Great place! We loved our time there. Would definitely come back. Watching the whales from the Lanai having a cup of coffee in the morning was one of the highlights of the trip.

Beautiful ocean view condo

Our favorite spot in Princeville - nothing but sea and sky from the lanai. Great space for two couples with beach equipment, two baths, comfortable living room, equipped kitchen for cooking. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

The views from the condo are spectacular. The host was very attentive to one hiccup we had when we couldn’t get in due to the lock malfunctioning. Condo had all the amenities one needed for a delightful.

Wonderful views

This condo is in a very good location and the views are outstanding. It was very well equipped with all basic supplies. Even though it was hot, we were comfortable with ocean breezes and fans. Would highly recommend staying here.

Lovely!

This spot couldn’t have been a better fit for us on our trip. For first time Kauai visitors, this spot is close to Hanalei, Kilauea, and the beaches / activities in Haena. The actual home has an incredible ocean view, from which you can see a stunning sunrise. We only stayed here for three days of our trip but I wish we stayed the whole time! The one thing I did wish was that the home had somewhere to hang purses/beach bags and raincoats by the door.

Paradise revisited

From the moment we arrived here in Princeville, the tranquility and peacefulness of the community was evident. The beautiful surroundings, the impeccably manicure properties throughout Princeville were just picturesque. The amenities of this property are endless. You have fabulous views of the beautiful Pacific Ocean from every room. Everything you could possibly think of that you have in your own home has provided for you.My wife and I started every morning and finished every evening sitting on the balcony, drinking our coffee or a glass of wine, listening to the ocean’s waves crashing upon the shoreline. It was extremely peaceful and relaxing. I couldn’t think of a better way to start or end the days.

Paradise Found!

We absolutely loved our Condo. Love Alii Kai area, amazing view, close to Turtle Cove. Recently upgraded Kitchen. The trade winds were AMAZING standing in the living room. My ONLY complaint is that we had to leave! John was very quick to respond and assist. 11 out of 10 review!

Wonderful place

The communication from the owner was great and he left us with really helpful tips on restaurants and activities. The condo is amazing. Right on the water. Watched the surf and whales right from the lanai, living room and bedroom. Nicely equipped kitchen allowed is to make a few dinners of fresh fish from a local market. Princeville is a great location to enjoy the north shore and is a nice community for morning walks before you start your day.

Spectacular Ocean Front in Princeville

It would be difficult to imagine a more perfect vacation condo on Kauai. The views and proximity to the ocean are stunning from every window. The sound of waves crashing and the cool breezes 24/7 were amazing. The condo is beautifully done and very well equipped. You will want for nothing. The access to Hanalei and the Na Pali coast could not be better. The bedding in the master was superb and the furniture throughout the unit was very nice and comfortable. We are pretty discerning and widely traveled.....this is a Gold Star property.

Beautiful location!

Our stay was lovely with an amazing view of the ocean from ALL rooms. Falling asleep to the sound of ocean surf was magical as was greeting the whales and turtles every morning. If you enjoy running, wonderful running loop that sends you down a steep fire road to Anini Beach to enjoy views of ocean surf and the lighthouse. The condo had everything we needed and was very comfortable. John is awesome to work with and is very prompt; we would absolutely stay in his place again. Now we must leave and likely get an ocean surf sound machine so we can sleep as well as we did in Kauai!!😁 Mahalo!

Fantastic condo in a superb location

We loved our time at this condo. We arrived after dark, but the directions were so clear and easy to follow that we had no issues finding the place. The location is stunning, perched right at the edge of a cliff. We had wonderful sunrise views. The north shore location was close to many wonderful attractions. However, make sure you don’t try to get over your jet lag - it’s just easier to get used to getting up super early to see the best attractions! To park at both Tunnels Beach and Queen’s Bath, you had to arrive before 8 am. Both were worth it though. Tunnels had a great reef for snorkelling that dropped off steeply into deep waters. I think Queen’s Bath is walking distance if the parking lot is full. The condo was a lovely haven to return to after a busy day exploring. It was well stocked with basic spices and condiments. It also had some towels, sunscreen and after sun products. We would definitely return to this condo. Mahalo!

Great stay on the island for New Year's

Two thumbs up. Communication with John heading into the trip was good, and the condo was just as described. The master bedroom with ensuite was quite a bit bigger than the second bedroom, so grab that room if you can. Balcony was nice, and we saw whales from there the first morning which was awesome: the supplied binoculars were a nice touch as well. If you have a good set of hiking shoes or grippy sandals (not flip flops) check out the trail down to the water that starts out on the other side of the adjacent building. The pool on the property was quite small, but we were busy the whole time and didn't have a chance to even check it out so not an issue for us. Princeville Center was close, with some restaurants and shops including the grocery store with pretty much everything you might need. Our only complaint was the location of Princeville, which ended up being on the opposite end of the island from pretty much everything we were doing. But that issue was all about our planning, not the condo itself, and the rental car made traversing the island pretty easy. Hanalai Beach is actually quite close and it was the nicest beach we experienced on the island, so check that out if you have a chance. All in all I would give the condo location and amenities two thumbs up, just be aware of the location on the island before planning excursions.

Wow! Just wow! Ocean views galore and worth every cent! This location was perfect for a vacation in Kauai. We were minutes away from Hanalei for all the beaches, shops and restaurants. This home comes stocked with all Kitchenware and basic seasonings such cooking oil. The portable ice cooler and beach chairs & towels were awesome to have if you wanna visit tunnels beach or hanalei beach! If you make shuttle reservations to visit Ha’ena State Park, this location is only a 10 minute walk to the Makai Golf Course for the shuttle pickup and the shuttle brings you back right to your front door with a reservation.Tip: leave the curtains open at night and wake up to a beautiful sunrise without having to get out of bed.

Absolutely incredible! The perfect home base for all of our adventures on Kauai's gorgeous north shore. The ocean views, cooling breezes, and comfy furniture made it great for relaxing in between expeditions. The host provided everything to make our stay super comfortable: the kitchen is beautifully remodeled and stocked, and there are beach chairs, coolers towels, and sand toys ready to go. The host is a wonderfully responsive communicator. Highly recommend. We hope to come back!

Beautiful views

This property is in a great and the views from the bedrooms and lanai are just amazing! I was a little worried about not having A/C but the breeze off the ocean was very comfortable! We left our windows open at bedtime and it was so peaceful to hear the waves. The condo was perfect for our family of four and in the perfect location for all that we did while in Princeville/Hanalei. The host was very nice and I would definitely stay here again and recommend this condo to family and friends.

It was an impromptu visit to Kauai with my family. I absolutely love Princeville and have stayed all over, but John's place was among my most favorite. His place is stocked, a breathtaking view of the ocean, and very comfortable. We hope to come back.

Rooms with views

Really did have an ocean view from every room. It would have been nice in the listing to say that there were coolers available so we wouldn't have bought one prior to checking in. Bare minimum of bathroom towels so we had to do laundry several times.
